What's In The Bunch

The name says gerberas but there are roses in here too. The photo shows hot pink gerberas with dark centres, pale blush gerberas with golden centres, cream gerberas with soft tan centres, and three or four pink roses sitting amongst them. The roses add a different texture. Where gerberas are flat faced and bold, the roses are layered and rounded. Having both in the same bunch gives it depth that an all gerbera arrangement doesn't quite achieve.

The palette runs from cream through blush to mid pink to hot pink. Everything stays in the same tonal family. No purple, no red, no orange pulling the eye sideways. The effect is softer and more cohesive than our Bright Mixed Gerberas which goes in every colour direction at once. This one is quieter. It reads as considered rather than spontaneous.

Brigitte ordered this and said "fantastic quality, one week later still amazing." That longevity makes sense. Gerberas are among the longest lasting cut flowers when properly conditioned, and roses in the pastel range tend to hold colour better than deep reds which show every bruise and UV fade mark. A week is a reasonable expectation for this bunch with basic care.

Cat Safe

Gabrielle flagged something in her review that deserves its own section. "I liked that there were a few options there too that would be safe around cats, which was something I had to consider when shopping for flowers for my cousin, since her and her husband have three of them."

Lilies are toxic to cats. All parts of the plant, petals, pollen, leaves, even the water in the vase. A cat that brushes against a lily and licks the pollen off its fur can develop kidney failure. It's serious enough that most vets will tell you to keep lilies out of any house with cats, full stop.

This bunch has no lilies. The gerberas and roses in this arrangement are not toxic to cats. That doesn't mean a cat won't chew on them (cats will chew on anything) but it does mean there's no risk of the kind of poisoning that lilies cause. If you're sending flowers to someone with cats and you're not sure what's safe, this is a solid choice. Our Mixed Gerberas at $80.75 is another option with zero lily risk. Sizing

Four sizes. Standard starts at $80.75. Deluxe adds extra stems for $6 more. Premium at +$31 is the one in the photo, fuller and with a wider range of bloom sizes. Extra Large at +$45 is generous enough to fill a large vase on a dining table.

Vase is not included. We sell flowers with vases separately. For pastel flowers a clear glass vase lets the soft colours speak. A white ceramic works too. Anything dark or strongly coloured and it swallows the pastels.

Gabrielle made a suggestion in her review about being able to see what the arrangements look like at different sizes. We don't have photos of every size yet, but the photo shows the Premium. Care

When the bunch arrives, unwrap it, trim all stems at a forty five degree angle with sharp scissors, and strip every leaf below the waterline. Room temperature water for the first fill.

The gerberas and roses want slightly different water depths. Gerberas prefer shallow water, about 5 to 8 centimetres, because their hollow stems can waterlog and soften. Roses want deeper water. A compromise around a third of the vase works for both. Top up between water changes because the gerberas drink noticeably fast.

Keep them out of direct afternoon sun. Pastel pigments fade faster in UV light than saturated colours. The cream gerberas especially will brown at the petal edges in a sunny window. A spot with bright indirect light is the best compromise between enough light to enjoy the flowers and not so much that it damages them.

Change the water every two to three days. When individual stems start to fade, pull them out. The gerberas will typically outlast the roses by three or four days. Removing the roses as they tire lets the gerberas carry the vase without dead stems dragging down the water quality.

Delivery is $16.95 Australia wide. That fee is subsidised. The actual cost of getting a florist to hand deliver to a specific address is often higher, but we absorb the difference.

Same day delivery if you order before 2pm on weekdays or 10am on Saturdays. Brigitte's order was "same day delivery within a couple of hours." That's not guaranteed, but it shows what the partner florist network can do when the timing works. No Sunday deliveries. Flower markets close Saturday afternoon.

Gabrielle ordered this and "delivery was super speedy and awesome too, and my order was delivered the day after I placed it." She likely ordered after the same day cutoff and received next day delivery, which is how the system works when you miss the 2pm window.

Substitution Policy

Gerberas in pastel shades are widely available but the specific tones change with the seasons. Summer markets tend to carry brighter pinks while winter stock often leans more cream and blush. The roses may vary in shade from soft pink to mid pink depending on what the florist judges best against the gerberas on the day. Any flower substituted will be of equal or greater value and will stay within the pastel pink and cream colour range. The overall gentle, cohesive look of the bunch stays the same even when individual shades shift.
