What's In The Bunch

Deep cerise roses, four or five large blooms in that intense pink that sits right on the edge of red. Pink oriental stargazer lilies, two or three stems with open blooms showing pink petals covered in darker crimson speckling and visible golden anthers, plus tight buds that will keep opening for days. Mixed green foliage, including eucalyptus and lily foliage, filling the base and giving the arrangement depth.

Two flower types. Both pink. Both bold. This bunch doesn't hedge. It picks a direction and commits. The roses bring structure, layered petals tightly wound. The lilies bring drama, wide open star shaped blooms with that distinctive spotted pattern that no other flower has. Between them they fill a room with colour and scent simultaneously.

The speckled pattern on stargazer lilies is natural pigmentation, not damage or disease. Each bloom develops its own pattern as it opens. No two are identical. It's one of the few flowers where variation between blooms on the same stem is a visible part of the appeal rather than something you overlook.

Sizing

Four sizes. Standard starts at $80.95. Deluxe adds extra stems for $6 more. Premium at +$31 is the one in the photo, noticeably fuller with more rose and lily stems. Extra Large at +$45 is dramatic.

Vase is not included. We sell flowers with vases separately. For a bunch this intensely coloured, a clear glass vase lets the green stems show through as a contrast. Avoid pink or red vases because they'll merge with the flowers and everything becomes one flat block of colour.

The Fragrance

This bunch produces two layers of scent. Most people don't realise roses and lilies operate on different scales.

That fragrance intensity means this bunch isn't ideal for hospital wards where scent can be restricted. Care

When the bunch arrives, unwrap it, trim all stems at a forty five degree angle with sharp scissors, and strip every leaf below the waterline. Room temperature water for the first fill, about two thirds of the vase. Change it every two to three days.

Remove the lily pollen anthers from each bloom as it opens. Pinch them off before the pollen starts to powder. Stargazer lily pollen stains badly and transfers from fingertips to fabric faster than you'd expect. Removing the anthers also extends each bloom by three or four days.

The roses and lilies want similar water depths so there's no compromise needed. Fill to two thirds and top up between changes. The lily buds will keep opening over seven to fourteen days after the bunch arrives, which means the arrangement builds in volume and fragrance as the week goes on.

Keep the bunch out of direct afternoon sun. The deep pink pigments in both the roses and the lily petals will fade in UV light. The lily speckling pattern holds up better than the base petal colour, so sun faded stargazers end up looking washed out with spots that are now too prominent. Indirect light preserves the balance.

As the roses start to fade, pull them out. The lily buds will keep the vase going well past the point where the roses are finished.

Delivery is $16.95 Australia wide. That fee is subsidised. The actual cost of getting a florist to hand deliver to a specific address is often higher, but we absorb the difference.

Substitution Policy

Pink roses are available year round. Pink oriental stargazer lilies are widely sourced but less consistently available than white orientals, as discussed on our Pretty Pinks page. If the florist can't source pink stargazers that meet their standard on the day, they may use a different pink oriental lily variety or contact us to discuss alternatives before substituting. The exact bloom stage and speckle intensity will vary naturally between stems. Any substitution will be of equal or greater value and will maintain the deep pink palette and the roses plus lilies combination. If you have a strong preference for stargazers specifically, call us on 1300 360 469 and we'll pass the instruction to the florist.
