Description

One long stem red rose arranged in a glass vase and hand delivered by a partner florist on the day. $62.50, vase included, same day delivery if you order before 2pm weekdays or 10am Saturdays. Arrives ready to display.

The vase in the photo is for display purposes only. Your partner florist will arrange the rose in a glass vase but the style and shape may differ from the image. The florist may also add filler flowers or decorative foliage to complete the arrangement. Rose colour is red.

What You're Getting

One long stem red rose with foliage, arranged in a glass vase with water, delivered ready to put straight on a table, a desk, a bedside, a windowsill. No unwrapping, no trimming, no searching the cupboards for something to put it in. Dennis ordered one and his review sums up the experience: "The rose was beautiful, the vase is beautiful and the little white flowers made the whole gift perfect. On top of this, it was delivered on time." The filler flowers he mentioned are a nice example of a partner florist adding their own touch to round out the arrangement.

A single red rose in a vase is a specific kind of statement. It's minimal, deliberate, and it says more by not trying to say everything. There's a reason it keeps showing up in the orders around Valentine's Day and anniversaries. One rose, properly presented, carries more weight than people expect.

The Vase

The vase is part of the gift and the florist selects it to suit the stem. That sounds simple but there's a proportion to get right, and Anna, who spent fifteen years as a working florist before joining us, is particular about it.

A Anna Qualified Florist, 15+ Years

"There's an old rule in floristry: the flowers should sit about one and a half times the height of the vase. Not double, not equal. Get it wrong and the whole thing looks off. Too much stem above the vase and it looks top heavy. Too little and the rose disappears into the glass. With a single stem you can't hide a bad proportion behind other flowers. Some florists eyeball this instinctively. Some don't. You can tell which is which."

That's part of what the $62.50 covers. The florist is matching the vase height to the stem length, trimming to get the proportion right, adding foliage or filler to balance the visual weight, and arranging it so the rose sits properly before it goes out the door. Compare that to grabbing a random vase from the cupboard and dropping a stem in. The result looks different because it is different.

Who Orders This One

Romance and anniversaries. Also workplaces, hospitals, and anywhere the recipient might not have a vase handy. The fact that this arrives arranged and ready makes it good for elderly recipients or anyone you're sending to from a distance. Colleen ordered flowers online for a "long distance birthday" and had them delivered on time. That's the pattern we see: people who can't be there in person and want the gift to arrive complete.

At $62.50 this is $19.55 more than our single wrapped red rose at $42.95. That difference covers the glass vase, the arranging, the filler, and the extra care needed to deliver glass without breaking it. If you want the rose without a vase, go with the single wrap. If you'd prefer the rose paired with chocolates or a teddy bear (both $60.50), see our rose with chocolates or rose with teddy. For more roses, browse our roses category.

A Note On Valentine's Day

One customer ordered this product last minute on Valentine's Day. The florists were fully booked and couldn't deliver in time. Rather than accept the order and hope for the best, our team contacted the customer within minutes, explained the situation, and issued a full refund. The customer's review said: "A lot of businesses would have just let it roll. Really appreciate the fast response." They said they'll order again and plan better next time.

We mention this because it's worth knowing how we handle the one day of the year when flower delivery demand spikes beyond capacity. If we can't deliver properly, we'll tell you straight away rather than send something late or substandard. Valentine's Day orders placed early in the week before February 14 have the best chance of getting through. If you're reading this in early February, don't wait.

Care

The rose arrives already arranged in the vase with water. The florist has trimmed the stem, stripped the leaves, and set the water level. All the recipient needs to do is find somewhere to put it.

Where you put it matters more than most people realise.

A Anna Qualified Florist, 15+ Years

"Corporate offices are flower graveyards. The aircon runs all day, humidity drops to around 30 percent, and a rose that would last two weeks at home might last four days on a reception desk. The dry air just pulls moisture out of the petals faster than the stem can replace it. If the rose is going to sit in an air conditioned space, mist it once a day if you can. Even just flicking a few drops of water onto the petals with your fingers helps. Or put a small bowl of water nearby. Anything that adds a bit of humidity around the bloom."

Avoid direct afternoon sun. Red roses are prone to colour fade under UV because the pigment compounds break down quickly in strong light. Indirect light in a cool room is ideal. Change the water every two to three days. Expect seven to ten days with proper care, longer in a humid room, shorter in heavy aircon.

Delivery

Your rose is arranged in a glass vase and hand delivered by a real partner florist from our network of 800+ across Australia. We've been running this network since 2009. Not posted, not shipped from a warehouse. Arranged fresh, proportioned properly, and delivered to the door on the day.

Delivery is $16.95 Australia wide. That fee is subsidised. The actual cost of getting a florist to hand deliver a glass vase arrangement to a specific address is often higher, but we absorb the difference.

Same day delivery if you order before 2pm on weekdays or 10am on Saturdays. Those cutoffs are slightly tighter on vase arrangements because the florist needs to condition the stem, select and match the vase, arrange, and route the delivery with extra care for glass in transit.

No Sunday deliveries. Flower markets close Saturday afternoon. Any florist delivering on a Sunday is working with Friday stock that's already lost roughly 30% of its vase life. We'd rather be upfront about that.

Need to change something after ordering? Email [email protected], call us on 1300 360 469 (Mon to Fri, 7am to 6pm, Sat 7am to 12pm), or use live chat. If something isn't right with the delivery, get in touch within 24 hours with a photo and we'll sort it out.
