What You're Getting

Two stems of pink oriental lilies with foliage, wrapped in paper. Two stems sounds modest until you understand how lilies work. Each stem carries multiple blooms, typically three to five per stem, and they don't all open at once. The ones that are already open will be the first thing the recipient notices. The tight buds alongside them will open over the next several days, one by one, so the display changes and refreshes across the week. You're not sending two flowers. You're sending a week of flowers that keeps unfolding.

The oriental variety in the photo has soft pink petals with darker pink freckling. Orientals are the scented ones. They'll fill a room. If you've ever walked into someone's house and noticed lilies before you saw them, that's the oriental fragrance doing its work.

A word on that fragrance: it's strong. Most people love it. But if the recipient is in a shared hospital ward or has scent sensitivities, it's worth considering. Our 3 wrapped gerberas or single wrapped red rose are scentless alternatives that work well for those situations.

Anna spent fifteen years as a working florist before joining us, and lilies were one of the flowers she had the strongest opinions about.

A Anna Qualified Florist, 15+ Years

"Everyone knows to remove lily anthers to avoid stains. What most people don't know is it actually extends the flower's life. The lily thinks it hasn't been pollinated yet, so it keeps blooming, waiting. You can add three or four extra days just by removing the pollen before it sheds. As soon as a bloom opens, pinch off the anthers with a tissue. Don't use your fingers bare because lily pollen stains everything it touches, clothes, benchtops, tablecloths. Once it's on fabric it's almost impossible to get out."

That anther tip is worth the price of admission on its own. Three or four extra days from a ten second job each time a new bloom opens. And because the buds on each stem open one after another over the course of the week, you'll be doing it a few times, which means the arrangement keeps refreshing itself while also lasting longer than most people expect.

Who Orders This One

Birthdays, Mother's Day, thank you, and a lot of just because. Lilies carry a certain weight that makes them feel like a considered gift even in a simple wrap. Joel ordered these for his wife and said "they looked great and made my wife a very happy girl." That lines up with what we see in the order data. These get sent to people who matter, not as afterthoughts.

At $56.50 this includes two stems (with all those buds), foliage, wrapping, a personalised gift card, and hand delivery to their door by a real partner florist on the day. Order before 2pm weekdays for same day delivery. If you want a fuller lily arrangement, browse our lilies category for larger bunches and boxed arrangements.

Care

Trim the stems at an angle, about forty five degrees, before they go in the vase. Lily stems are thick and solid so use sharp scissors or secateurs rather than trying to tear them. Room temperature water for the first fill, about two thirds of the vase height. Remove any leaves that would sit below the waterline because submerged foliage rots, breeds bacteria, and clogs the stems.

The most important thing with lilies is the pollen. Anna covered this above but it's worth repeating because the timing matters.

A Anna Qualified Florist, 15+ Years

"You have to get the anthers before the pollen starts to powder. When the bloom first opens the anthers are still firm and you can pinch them off clean. Leave it a day and the pollen dries, turns dusty, and starts falling on everything underneath. If it lands on the petals it stains those too. I used to tell customers: check your lilies every morning. If a new bud has opened overnight, grab a tissue and pinch off the anthers before you do anything else."

Change the water every two to three days. With proper care and the anther removal, two stems of orientals should give you ten days to two weeks as the buds continue opening in sequence.

Delivery

Your lilies are wrapped and hand delivered by a real partner florist from our network of 800+ across Australia. We've been running this network since 2009. Not posted, not shipped from a warehouse. Made fresh and delivered on the day.

Delivery is $16.95 Australia wide. That fee is subsidised. The actual cost of getting a florist to hand deliver to a specific address is often higher, but we absorb the difference.

Same day delivery if you order before 2pm on weekdays or 10am on Saturdays. Those cutoffs exist because the florist needs time to source and prepare the flowers while they're at their freshest.

No Sunday deliveries. Flower markets close Saturday afternoon. Any florist delivering on a Sunday is working with Friday stock that's already lost roughly 30% of its vase life. We'd rather be upfront about that.

Need to change something after ordering? Email [email protected], call us on 1300 360 469 (Mon to Fri, 7am to 6pm, Sat 7am to 12pm), or use live chat. If something isn't right with the delivery, get in touch within 24 hours with a photo and we'll sort it out.
