I'm Siobhan. Andrew and I bought a flower shop in 2006 and started Lily's Florist in 2009, building a network that now covers over 800 partner florists across Australia. We got to know the Woy Woy peninsula properly in 2019 when we drove down for a long weekend at Terrigal with Asha and Ivy. Andrew wanted to explore the back roads afterward and we ended up winding through all these little waterfront pockets along Brisbane Water. Cheero Point was one of them. What to Send to Cheero Point
Almost every house in Cheero Point faces the water. The estuary is right there, Brisbane Water, and the breeze off it carries salt. That matters when you are choosing flowers because salt changes how long certain stems last. If you are not sure what to pick for someone who lives this close to the water, start with what actually thrives in that environment. And if the flowers are heading to Gosford Hospital rather than a home, check with the ward first as some units restrict fresh arrangements due to infection control or allergen policies.
Native flowers

Natives are some of the hardest working stems a florist can use. The waxy coating on a banksia or a leucadendron acts like a shield against salt air and dry conditions. Regular petals, roses especially, absorb salt and lose moisture through the tissue. Within a couple of days near the water they start to curl at the edges and go papery."
"I worked at a florist at Salt in Kingscliff, right on the coast. It took one summer of customer complaints before I worked out the pattern. Every arrangement that went to a beachfront or waterfront address and fell apart early had the same problem: soft petals in salt air. Once I started leading with natives for coastal deliveries the complaints stopped. The flowers lasted longer and looked better because they were actually suited to where they were going."
