Same Day Delivery - Clifton Beach Wide
You want to send flowers to someone in Clifton Beach and you are not there. Maybe you have been thinking about it for a week, or maybe the phone call that prompted this was twenty minutes ago. You are here, and that is enough. Andrew here, co-founder of Lily's Florist. We have been coordinating flower deliveries through this part of Far North Queensland since 2009.
The Captain Cook Highway runs north from Cairns for about 25 kilometres before reaching Clifton Beach. The beach is netted at the north end because crocodiles visit it, which tends to surprise people who have never been, but the residents chose this place for the low-rise quiet and the village shops. Flowers N Lace in Bungalow was one of our earliest partner florists, back in 2008. We built her a website, same as the others, because none of them had one, and passed her every order that came through. The corridor from Bungalow to Palm Cove is one of the oldest delivery runs in our network. Seventeen years of knowing which roads flood and which driveways have no shade.
Order before 2pm weekdays or 10am Saturdays and a florist in or close to Clifton Beach makes your arrangement fresh and delivers it the same day. Delivery is $16.95. Flowers start from $42.95 for a single wrapped rose.

Anna, qualified florist, 15 years hands-on and 10,000+ customer calls across every postcode in Australia. Milestone birthday for a parent who retired up here? The gerberas or the roses and carnations. New grandchild? The baby girl arrangement. Something for a partner? The red roses. All four are box arrangements, which matters when the recipient has no vase handy.
Anna: Every stem is wired through the hollow centre to stay upright in foam. The yellows hold their colour longest in warm rooms, which helps when the afternoon sun hits through Clifton Beach windows.
View ProductAnna: Six stems in a dark vessel with eucalyptus and pittosporum for contrast. Not twelve, not over the top. A thought that lands without creating obligation. The foliage outlasts the roses by a week.
View ProductAnna: Florist picks from what came in strongest that morning. Foam-based, so no vase needed at the hospital or at home. Chocolates boxed separately so the ward can share them around.
View ProductAnna: The carnations are the quiet hero here. Fourteen days of vase life while the roses peak and fade around day six. Pink spray roses, gerberas, and daisies fill the gaps. Generous look at the price.

People hear "crocodile warnings at the beach" and assume Clifton Beach is wild. Wrong. A quiet, low-rise residential strip between Kewarra Beach and Palm Cove with a Coles, a hairdresser, and a wetland walk. The crocodiles are real but they are not the problem for flowers. The problem is the combination of salt air from the Coral Sea and humidity that sits above 75% for six months of the year. Salt deposits on petal surfaces. Humidity prevents the deposits from drying and blowing off. The petals absorb the moisture, soften, and brown from the edges inward. I took a call once from a woman in Melbourne ordering for her mother's 80th. She wanted peonies. February. Cairns. I talked her through it. Peonies in that heat and humidity last about thirty-six hours. She went with gerberas instead, and her mother still had colour on the kitchen bench eight days later.
The florists sourcing from the Cairns wholesale market on Scott Street in Bungalow have access to tropical stems that most of the country cannot get same-day. Heliconias, gingers, orchids, birds of paradise. Those stems evolved in this climate. They do not fight the humidity, they use it. A heliconia picked at a local grower twenty minutes south of Clifton Beach holds for two weeks without thinking about it. A rose trucked from Melbourne holds for four days, maybe five if the recipient keeps it out of the sun. The gap is not about quality. Geography decides.
Your order goes to a florist close to the area who sources stems from the Cairns wholesale market that same morning. No warehouse sits between the grower and the bench. The florist builds your arrangement in a cool room before the delivery run up the Captain Cook Highway.

The four products above cover the most common reasons people order flowers to this stretch of coast north of Cairns. This section covers the part the products cannot tell you: when to send, who to address them to, and what to write on the card. If you are looking for sympathy flowers for the home or something else entirely, the browse pills above the products link to every category we carry.
Someone in Clifton Beach has lost a person they love and you are not close enough to be there. Flowers will not undo that distance but they arrive when you cannot. The first decision is where to send them. If you know the home address, send there. The family will see them when they walk in the door. If you are sending to a service, call the funeral director first and confirm the date, the time, and how they want the card addressed. The Cairns Crematorium and Memorial Gardens on Foster Road in Mount Sheridan handles most services for the southern and northern suburbs. Far Northern Funerals in Manoora is the other main option. Both accept funeral flowers on the day of the service.
Send within three days of the news. I processed thousands of sympathy orders from the Pottsville office and the ones that caused problems were almost always a timing issue, not a flower issue. After a week, the gesture reads differently. For the card, keep it to one line. "Thinking of you and your family" is enough. Do not try to frame the loss as something positive.
Your person is in hospital or recovering after surgery at home, and sending flowers is the one thing you can do from wherever you are. If they are at Cairns Hospital on the Esplanade, address the card to their full name and the ward number. If you do not know the ward, the switchboard can direct you. Flowers go to the ward reception desk and the staff move them to the bedside when they can. The gap between delivery and the patient seeing them can be an hour or three. Do not chase the florist for a delivery photo during the wait.
If there is any chance the patient might be discharged before the flowers arrive, send to the home address instead. In our experience, hospitals do not redirect deliveries to a home address after discharge. The get well range includes box arrangements that do not need a vase, and in a hospital room where bench space is limited, that counts for more than stem selection.
I took get well calls for Cairns Hospital most weeks from the Pottsville office. Send on day two, not day one. Day one is chaos for the family and the patient. Day two, the room is quieter and the flowers actually register. Write "get well soon" or "thinking of you" on the card. That is plenty. Nobody in a hospital bed wants to read a paragraph.
Bright Mixed Gerbera Arrangement from $85.75. Delivery $16.95.
Order Before 2pm for Same DayYour parent hit seventy, or eighty, and you are marking it from another state. The phone call you made this morning was fine, but fine is not the same as showing up. Birthday flowers to Clifton Beach tend to skew toward milestone numbers. The retiree population keeps growing out here, and the median age is around 45. Seventieth, eightieth. The person has lived in the same house long enough that the neighbours know without being told. If nobody is home when the florist arrives, they will leave the flowers in a safe spot out of direct sun. Adding a delivery note at checkout helps: "leave at side door" or "ring doorbell twice" gives the florist a clear instruction.
I handled milestone birthday calls more than any other type for the Cairns coast. The caller is usually a son or daughter who lives in Brisbane, Sydney, or Melbourne. They want something bright, they want it today, and they want their parent to call them afterwards. The phone call from the recipient is the real gift. The flowers are the trigger. Write "Happy birthday, Mum" on the card and leave space for the conversation that follows.
No occasion. No milestone. You just realised it has been months since you spoke to someone in Clifton Beach and the guilt has been sitting there quietly. Thinking of you flowers cover this without making it a production. The card can say "no reason, just thinking of you" and nothing else needs adding. There is nothing to explain or justify.
These orders picked up in June and July every year on the calls I processed. Winter in Cairns is mild but the days are shorter and people who retired up here from southern states feel the distance more when the rest of the family is bundled up in Melbourne or Sydney. The adult children ring or order because the gap in contact has become loud enough to act on. A box arrangement with bright colour cuts through a quiet Wednesday morning better than pastels do.
Pick any of the four products above. They were selected because they cover the most common reasons people send flowers to Clifton Beach, and none of them need a vase from the recipient. If none of them feel right, the Florist's Choice range gives the florist full latitude to build something from whatever came in strongest at market that morning. You tell them the occasion and the budget. They handle the rest.

Every Northern Beaches suburb depends on the Captain Cook Highway for vehicle access. It is the only road connecting Clifton Beach to the CBD, 25 kilometres south. In December 2023, Cyclone Jasper cut the highway and isolated suburbs north of Holloways Beach for days. Our florists covering the area know the alternative routes and the flood-prone sections. Clifton Beach itself is low-rise residential with no gated estates or high-rise lobbies. Most deliveries go straight to the front door. The new pedestrian bridge to Kewarra Beach opened in 2024 but it carries foot and bike traffic only, so the vehicle delivery run stays the same. Order before 2pm and your flowers are at their door this afternoon.

"Beautiful long lasting Gerberas. The website ordering was simple and quick. I ordered Gerberas for a friend in hospital and she was thrilled. Her arrangement was much admired by staff and visitors, and were taken home with her as fresh as the day they arrived."

Order Flowers to Clifton BeachAnnette ordered gerberas for a friend in hospital. The arrangement went in, got admired, went home with the patient, and still looked fresh days later.
Every gerbera in a box arrangement is wired internally. A fine gauge wire threaded up through the hollow stem into the base of the flower head. Without the wire, the head droops within hours. With it, the gerbera stays upright for the full vase life. The foam reservoir keeps stems hydrated constantly, which is why Annette's friend could take them home after days in a warm hospital room and still have colour. Gerberas give you seven to ten days in good conditions. The yellows hold longest. The hot pinks fade first, but by then the arrangement has already done its job.
Not Every Review Is Five Stars
"I was very disappointed with my order. From what I ordered on your website to what was delivered was completely different. I ordered a mixed gerbera arrangement and only received a couple gerberas with carnation and other flowers and leaves. Not worth the price I paid for it."
Corina · verified customer · 15 May 2024
Corina ordered a gerbera arrangement and received carnations and mixed stems instead. I took calls like this at the Pottsville office and the cause was almost always the same. The florist ran out of gerberas that day. Instead of calling us to delay the order, they substituted with what they had on the bench. The value was probably there but the product was not what Corina chose, and she had every right to be disappointed. Gerbera supply is seasonal. Some weeks the market is stacked with them and some weeks the growers send half the usual volume. A good florist calls ahead when the stock is short. If that call does not happen, this is the review you get.

Your order goes to a florist in or near Clifton Beach who works from a real shop with a cool room and a bench. They source stems from the markets that same morning, or from growers closer to the coast. The arrangement is built on the day you ordered, provided you got it in before the 2pm cutoff. You will not receive a delivery photo. The florist's job ends when the flowers are at the door or with the recipient.
If something goes wrong, or if you need to change the address, the card message, or the delivery date after ordering, call 1300 360 469 during business hours. You will get a person, not a menu.
I know what it feels like to hand over money for something you will never see arrive. You are trusting a florist you have never met to physically represent how you feel about someone. That is a strange transaction when you think about it. The way we have managed that since 2009 is by working with the same florists for years. The partner covering the Cairns Northern Beaches has been with us long enough to know which streets have shade and which doorsteps get cooked by midday. If the recipient does not call you straight away, give it a day. People are busy, or surprised, or both.
Clifton Beach is one of the quieter suburbs along the coast north of Cairns, so the chances of someone being home during a weekday delivery are better than average. Retired residents, families with school-age kids, people working from home. The florist will leave the arrangement in a shaded spot if nobody answers.
