Description

One long stem red rose with a box of assorted chocolates, wrapped with foliage, a personalised gift card, and hand delivered by a partner florist on the day. $60.50 with same day delivery if you order before 2pm weekdays or 10am Saturdays.

Wrapping and chocolate brand may vary from the image. Your partner florist sources the chocolates locally so the box you see in the photo is representative, not exact. Rose colour is red.

What You're Getting

One long stem red rose, foliage, paper wrapping, a box of assorted chocolates, and a personalised gift card. All of it hand delivered by a partner florist on the day.

If you've looked at our single wrapped red rose at $42.95 and thought about adding something to it, this is that product. The rose is the same. The chocolates turn it from a gesture into a gift. The difference between someone opening the door to a single rose and someone opening the door to a single rose plus chocolates is the difference between "oh that's lovely" and sitting down with a cup of tea for twenty minutes.

Tony ordered this for his wife on their 27th wedding anniversary and said "truly a beautiful bunch of roses, excellent quality. My wife loved them." Twenty seven years in and a single red rose with chocolates still landed. That tells you something about the product.

The Rose

Single stem, long, red. The partner florist selects the best rose available on the day from their market stock. Anna spent fifteen years as a working florist before joining us and she's particular about what "best available" actually means in practice.

A Anna Qualified Florist, 15+ Years

"Strip every leaf that sits below the waterline. Every single one. It's the biggest thing people skip and it's the thing that costs them the most vase life. Submerged leaves rot. The rot breeds bacteria. Bacteria clogs the stem and the rose can't drink. I've seen $150 arrangements last four days because nobody stripped the leaves. With a single rose you've only got one stem to get right, so take the ten seconds to strip it properly."

When you're sending one rose, that one has to be right. There's no other flower in the wrap to distract from a poor stem or a bloom that's past its peak. The florist knows that. A single rose order puts their selection under more scrutiny than a dozen, and the good ones treat it accordingly.

Who Orders This One

Romance and anniversaries are the obvious ones. Tony's 27th anniversary order proves the point. But we also see a lot of these go out for birthdays, apologies, and those moments where the words on the card need some backup. The chocolates add a physical thing to sit with after the door closes and the delivery driver leaves. Flowers and something to eat together is a combination that's hard to get wrong.

At $60.50 this is $17.55 more than the single wrapped red rose on its own. That covers the chocolates and the florist's time sourcing and packaging them alongside the rose. If you want the rose without chocolates, go with the single wrap. If you want more roses, browse our roses category for full bunches and arrangements.

Order before 2pm weekdays for same day delivery.

Care

The chocolates look after themselves. The rose needs a bit of attention when it arrives.

Trim the stem at a forty five degree angle with sharp scissors before putting it in water. The angled cut stops the stem from sitting flat against the vase bottom, which would block water uptake. A small vase or even a tall glass works well for a single stem. Fill it about two thirds with water.

A Anna Qualified Florist, 15+ Years

"People think cold water keeps flowers fresh longer. It's actually the opposite for that first fill. Room temperature or slightly warm water is absorbed more easily because the stems don't have to work as hard to draw it up. Cold water later in the vase life is fine, but when the rose first arrives and it's been out of water during delivery, lukewarm is better. It gets into the stem faster."

Keep the rose out of direct sunlight. Red roses are particularly prone to colour fade in afternoon sun because the pigment compounds break down under UV. A spot with indirect light will hold the colour and extend the life. Expect seven to ten days with proper care. Change the water every two to three days.

Delivery

Your rose and chocolates are hand delivered together by a real partner florist from our network of 800+ across Australia. We've been running this network since 2009. Not posted, not shipped from a warehouse. The florist wraps the rose fresh, packages the chocolates alongside it, and delivers to the door on the day.

Delivery is $16.95 Australia wide. That fee is subsidised. The actual cost of getting a florist to hand deliver to a specific address is often higher, but we absorb the difference.

Same day delivery if you order before 2pm on weekdays or 10am on Saturdays. Those cutoffs exist because the florist needs time to source the rose, select the chocolates, prepare the wrap, and route the delivery while everything is at its freshest.

No Sunday deliveries. Flower markets close Saturday afternoon. Any florist delivering on a Sunday is working with Friday stock that's already lost roughly 30% of its vase life. We'd rather be upfront about that.

Need to change something after ordering? Email [email protected], call us on 1300 360 469 (Mon to Fri, 7am to 6pm, Sat 7am to 12pm), or use live chat. If something isn't right with the delivery, get in touch within 24 hours with a photo and we'll sort it out.
