Same Day Delivery - Kirwan Wide
The birthday is today. Or the funeral is Thursday. Or you have been meaning to send a thank you for two weeks and now it is properly urgent. Most orders to Kirwan start exactly like that (I know because we process them). I am Siobhan Thomson, Lily's Florist, and a partner florist in or close to Kirwan is already building from today's freshest stock. Not boxed from a warehouse. Made on a bench, delivered by hand.
Kirwan runs six school zones between Burnda Street and Canterbury Road. The florist who covers your suburb navigates those pinch points daily so your delivery lands before the pick-up queue, not behind it. One thing worth knowing if you are sending get well flowers: Kirwan Health Campus on Thuringowa Drive is not a hospital. No emergency department, no inpatient wards. If your person is in hospital, they are at Townsville University Hospital in Douglas, 4 km away. In wet season, the same florist watched the 2019 flood put Kirwan under evacuation warning when the Ross River Dam hit 247% capacity. The suburb came through, but every January since, the community watches the dam level. The florist watches it too.

Anna, qualified florist, 10,000+ orders processed across regional Queensland. Birthday, sympathy, workplace thank you, and hospital are the four biggest reasons people order to Kirwan. These six cover all of them.
Anna: Workplace thank you at Willows or Brothers Leagues Club. No vase needed, nothing to arrange. It goes straight onto a desk or a staffroom table and people help themselves.
View ProductAnna: Graduation season hits Kirwan harder than anywhere else in Townsville. Bold colours, flat faces that photograph well under gym lighting. The recipient sends the photo back within minutes.
View ProductAnna: The florist reads your card message and builds to match the tone. Formal condolences get whites and greens. A note to a close friend gets something softer. That latitude matters more for sympathy than any other occasion.
View ProductAnna: Pink gerberas, roses, and green chrysanthemums in a clear vase. The chrysanths will still be standing ten days later when the gerberas are long gone. Staggered vase life gives two weeks of colour in Kirwan's warm rooms.
View ProductAnna: White roses and green chrysanths. Nobody gets offended by white and green. I used to steer callers toward this when they did not know the recipient's taste, which was about half the calls to Townsville postcodes.
View ProductAnna: TUH in Douglas is 4 km from Kirwan. Do not send to Kirwan Health Campus, it has no inpatient wards. Chocolates give the patient something to share with a visitor. The florist picks hardy stems that cope with air-conditioned wards and keeps the bunch compact for a bedside table.

I tell every Townsville caller the same thing: if you have any flexibility on which day you order, pick Monday or Tuesday. Fresh stock arrives from Rocklea Markets in Brisbane on Monday and Thursday. The freight covers 1,400 kilometres by road and air. A florist near Kirwan who buys at the wholesaler on Monday is building your bouquet from stems that left Brisbane the night before. An order placed on Wednesday uses Monday's stock. Still good, but two days older. In Townsville's heat, two days shows. Petals soften faster, gerbera necks bend, roses open a full stage ahead of where they should be at delivery.
I processed thousands of Townsville orders from the phones. Callers who had flexibility on timing got better results without spending more money. If the birthday is Wednesday but you can send on Tuesday instead, do it. The florist has fresher stock and more range to pick from. Monday and Tuesday orders consistently produced the strongest builds because the cool room was full. By Thursday afternoon, ahead of the second shipment, the selection narrows. A bouquet built from Monday stock gives the recipient ten days of colour instead of six. Four extra days of something alive and bright on the kitchen bench, for the same money.
One caller from Perth was ordering a sympathy arrangement to a Kirwan address on a Friday. I asked if the service was Saturday or the following Monday. Monday. I redirected her to order Sunday night for delivery after the Thursday restock had settled in the cool room. She rang back the following week to say the arrangement was bigger than she expected for the price. It was not bigger. The florist had more stems to choose from and built generously because the cool room was stocked. The budget did not change. The timing did.
Your order hits our system and we route it to a florist in or near Kirwan. They pull stems from their cool room, build by hand, and drive the delivery themselves. No airport box. No warehouse. The arrangement that arrives at the door was on the bench that morning.

The products above cover the what. This part covers the how. Kirwan has 20,780 people, and a birthday, a funeral, a hospital visit, or a workplace thank you is happening on any given week. If someone asked you to organise flowers and you need it sorted in three minutes, the products above are already filtered. If you need to know how the timing, addressing, and card message work for a specific occasion, keep reading. For a workplace thank you to Willows or one of the clubs, something in the $75-$90 range is the safe middle. It looks considered without looking like you are making up for something.
No speech needed. The flowers say it. You are ordering because you cannot be at the table, and a text or a call does not carry the same weight as something arriving at the door. The arrangement stands in for you. It is better than nothing and also a reminder of the distance, and that contradiction does not go away just because the flowers are beautiful.
Kirwan is 88% houses with front doors and porches. If the recipient works during the day (Willows, Brothers Leagues, one of the six schools), add a delivery note: "leave on back porch" or "try side gate." From thousands of orders to Townsville postcodes, the nobody-home pattern was always the same: the florist tries the front porch first, finds a shaded spot, and leaves a card. For mum's birthday or a milestone 30th, an early delivery gives the best chance of catching someone before they leave for the day.
Write the card message before you start the order, not during checkout. I used to hear callers panic at the card message field. You get 150 characters. "Happy birthday Mum, wish I could be there" lands harder than anything clever. I steered hundreds of Townsville callers away from long messages that got cut off mid-sentence. Keep it short. The recipient keeps that card on the fridge longer than the flowers last on the bench.
Someone has died. You need to do something and flowers are the something. Before you choose a product, decide where they need to go. Flowers for the service go to the funeral director with the director's name and the date of the service in the delivery notes. Condolence flowers for the family go to their home address. These are two different deliveries with different timing and different addressing. Getting it wrong means the flowers arrive at the wrong place.
Kirwan funerals typically go through Fitzgerald's in Hyde Park, Morley's in West End, or Townsville Funerals in Railway Estate. Woongarra Crematorium on the Bruce Highway at Julago handles cremation services. For any of these, the flowers need to arrive one to two hours before the service starts. Send within three days. Keep the card to one sentence. "Thinking of you and your family" is enough. Do not frame the loss as a positive.
The flowers will not fix anything. You already know that. They say you are present when you cannot physically be, and that is simultaneously not enough and the only thing most people can do from a distance.
Kirwan has a Catholic community of nearly 25%, and from what I heard on the phones, Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Morindo Drive and Ryan Catholic College both generate waves of collegial sympathy when a family in the school or parish is grieving. In my experience, white lilies and chrysanthemums tend to be the expected choice at Catholic services. If the service is at Good Shepherd, the tributes around yours will be white and cream. A bright arrangement will stand out, and not in a good way. The 10% Indigenous community means Sorry Business protocols may apply. I never assumed. Every family I spoke to had their own way. Natives were usually welcomed, but the only safe rule is to ask first.
You do not need to know the diagnosis to send flowers. The gesture works for a broken leg and for something you are afraid to ask about. What you do need to know is the address. Kirwan Health Campus on Thuringowa Drive is not a hospital. It has no emergency department and no general inpatient wards. If your person is in hospital, they are at Townsville University Hospital on Angus Smith Drive in Douglas, 4 km south of Kirwan. Getting this wrong sends your flowers to a community health centre where nobody can receive them.
For TUH, address the delivery to the patient's full name and ward number. If you do not know the ward, call the hospital switchboard and ask. Get well flowers go to the ward reception desk, not to the bedside. Staff log them and walk them to the patient when the round allows. In our experience, that gap between reception and bedside runs from 30 minutes to a few hours depending on the ward. Do not chase the florist for confirmation. The confirmation is the text from the person in the bed. "Thinking of you, hope you are on the mend" is enough for the card.
Send on day two, not day one. Day one is chaos. The patient is being admitted, prodded, processed. Nobody is looking at flowers. Day two, the room is quieter, the visitors have thinned out, and a bunch of colour on the bedside table changes the feel of the space. I steered hundreds of hospital callers toward that timing and the feedback was always better. The format matters too. Hospital bedside tables are small. Nobody in a ward has scissors and a vase. A compact arrangement that arrives ready to display earns its spot. A wrapped bunch sits in its cellophane until someone finds a container, and in a shared ward, that might be never.
Florist's Choice Bunch from $74.50. Delivery $16.95.
Order Before 2pm for Same DayNone of those occasions matched. You do not need a reason to send flowers. If you cannot narrow it down, the Floriade Bunch covers the widest range. It works for a birthday, a thank you, a thinking-of-you, and anything else where cheerful and bright is the right register. If you want the florist to decide entirely, the Florist's Choice options hand the decision to someone who builds arrangements every day. They read your card message and match the tone. You do not need to get it perfect. You just need to send it.
Townsville always catches me off guard. Fifteen years of sending flowers there and every time we visit, I forget how the sky looks at six o'clock. This was taken from the hotel the last time we came up. The kids had already gone to sleep and Andrew was doing order audits on his laptop. I just stood on the balcony for a bit.

2pm weekdays, 10am Saturdays. No Sunday delivery. Kirwan's afternoon storms in wet season (January to March) are why earlier delivery matters. Sunday orders queue for Monday AM.
Flat rate, subsidised. One of our partner florists near Kirwan makes and delivers. We absorb the difference between what the delivery costs and what you pay.
Between January and March, afternoon storms can drop 50mm in an hour. Intersections at Hervey Range Road and Thuringowa Drive flood for 30 to 60 minutes when the rain is heavy. The florist waits, reroutes, or delivers first thing the next day. The 2pm cutoff exists partly because afternoon storms in wet season are the highest delivery-failure risk window. Earlier orders go out before the sky builds. If you are ordering in wet season, before noon is better. Order before 2pm today and your flowers are there this afternoon.

"Great service. I was very happy with the service. There's so much range to choose from. The savoury basket that I have ordered for my mother as a birthday gift arrived the next day after placing my order. I definitely recommend this business!"

Send a Hamper to KirwanEssie ordered the Savoury Hamper for her mother's birthday and had it delivered the next day. The hamper arrived as expected and on time.
The Savoury Hamper is one of the steadiest products we send. It does not need water, it does not wilt, and it survives a doorstep in Townsville's heat longer than any floral arrangement would. For birthday gifts to Kirwan, it solves the "I do not know what flowers she likes" problem completely. The hamper goes on the kitchen bench and gets shared. That is the whole point.
Essie's experience is what the system looks like when it works. She ordered, it arrived the next day, her mother was happy. Not every order goes that smoothly. We have had orders confirmed on live chat that still did not arrive on time, and when the surprise is a birthday, a late delivery is a failed delivery. We track these misses and follow up directly. The majority of Kirwan deliveries land on time. When they do not, we want to hear about it on 1300 360 469, not in a review.
Once your order confirms, we route it to a florist close to the area. Most orders are on the bench within an hour of confirmation. The florist builds from their cool room stock, wraps or arranges to the product spec, and runs the delivery themselves. If you need to change the card message or the delivery address after ordering, email [email protected] or call 1300 360 469 (7am to 6pm weekdays, 10am Saturdays).
You will not get a delivery confirmation text from us. The confirmation is the phone call or the message from the person who received them. If that call has not come by the end of the day, it does not mean the delivery failed. Some people open the door, put the flowers on the table, and forget to text. Others ring you in tears thirty seconds after the florist drives away. Both are normal.
I run the operational side. If the flowers arrive damaged, if the wrong product turns up, if the delivery does not happen at all, that is my problem and I want to know about it before it becomes a Feefo review. Ring 1300 360 469 or email [email protected]. We chase it with the florist directly. Substitutions happen when a stem is not available that morning. The florist replaces it with something in the same colour range and value. When the substitution is significant, we note it on the order. The system is not perfect. What it is, is accountable.
Kirwan deliveries go through a florist who knows Thuringowa Drive, knows the school zone timing, and knows the difference between Parklands Aged Care at Kirwan Health Campus and Townsville University Hospital in Douglas. The Health Campus confusion still catches people. If you are sending get well flowers, check the card above for the right address.
