Same Day Flowers to Parkhurst. Even the Streets Google Maps Hasn't Found Yet.

Your daughter had a baby three days ago. You have been staring at your phone since Tuesday, wanting to do something, and flowers feel right but the address she texted you is brand new. I'm Andrew Thomson. Siobhan and I started Lily's Florist in 2009, and our partner florist near Parkhurst has been navigating Edenbrook addresses since before the Limestone Creek Bridge opened. They know which streets have permanent numbers up and which ones are still bare concrete with a temporary stake in the ground.

Parkhurst has the youngest population in the region. Median age thirty-two, household income $2,227 a week, median house price $759,000. The number of new baby and housewarming orders from this postcode runs ahead of every other suburb we cover, and it has done so for three years straight. This is not a budget suburb and the occasion mix reflects it.

Same day flower delivery to Parkhurst from $42.95. Order by 2pm weekdays or 10am Saturdays. Delivery $16.95 (subsidised flat rate).

Four Picks for Parkhurst, and Why They Work

Anna, qualified florist, 10,000+ orders across every state. Birthday and new baby account for most of what leaves the van in this postcode. These four cover the occasions that matter here.

Anna: The florist builds from what came in strong at market that morning. In Parkhurst's January heat, that latitude is the difference between dahlias that wilt on a doorstep and roses that hold for a week.

Anna: Mint-sage dahlias over standard pink. Reads as considered, not grabbed off a shelf. New parents in Edenbrook tend to photograph everything. This photographs well.

What Ten Thousand Phone Calls Taught Me About Delivering to New Estates

Anna

Qualified florist. 10,000+ orders processed from the Lily's Florist phone line, April 2010 to June 2013.

The problem with new estates is not the distance. It is the address. I processed orders to new developments across every state for three years, and the same call came in dozens of times a month: the sender gives an address, the GPS drops the pin on a vacant block, and the florist rings us from the side of the road asking where the house actually is.

A man in Hobart ordered a birthday bunch for his daughter. She had moved into a new estate outside Townsville four weeks earlier. He gave us the address she texted him. The florist drove out, found the street sign but no house number matching the one on the order. Rang the office. I rang the daughter. Turns out the council had reassigned numbers after the estate survey was finalised, and her new number was three doors along from the old one. The flowers arrived ninety minutes late and the surprise was gone. After that one, I started asking every caller sending to a new address: is this a new estate? When did they move in? Have they confirmed the street number with council? Three questions that took fifteen seconds and saved an hour of driving around.

Parkhurst is exactly the kind of suburb where this matters. Edenbrook is still being built out. Streets appear on Google Maps months after they are laid. The Dreamtime Cultural Centre covers 12 hectares at the northern end, the Heritage Village covers another 18 hectares along the Bruce Highway, and the QMAG magnesia plant employs over 200 people in the industrial precinct between them. A florist covering this suburb navigates residential estates, tourist landmarks, and heavy industry within the same delivery run. Our partner florist close to Parkhurst has been covering every stage of the build. They know which streets have kerbing and which are still gravel shoulders with temporary bollards.

How Your Flowers Get to Parkhurst

No warehouse. No airport box. Your order goes to a florist with a cool room and a bench, and they build it from blooms that were at the wholesale market that morning.

Inside the process. The chalkboard is from our Kingscliff shop, where it started in 2006.

What to Send to Parkhurst

The four products above cover the what. This section covers the how: timing, addressing, what to write on the card, and the logistics that trip people up. Parkhurst skews young and celebratory. New baby flowers and birthday bouquets account for most of the orders from this postcode.

Someone Close to You Just Had a Baby

The house is upside down. Sleep does not exist. Visitors arrive unannounced. The last thing a new parent in Edenbrook needs is a delivery they have to manage, but the flowers that land on day two or three, after the initial chaos fades, sit on the bench for a week and remind them somebody thought of them. Send on day two, not day one.

Address the card to the mother, not the baby. Hospital reception desks handle maternity deliveries by patient name, not infant name. If the baby's sex has not been announced, skip pink and blue entirely. A short message works: "Congratulations. Thinking of you both."

Anna, qualified florist

I processed hundreds of new baby orders from the phones. The question that came up more than any other was fragrance. New mothers in warm rooms with the aircon cycling tend to find heavy floral scent overwhelming. Oriental lilies and stock are the main offenders. I steered callers toward scentless blooms: gerberas, roses at the bud stage, chrysanthemums. In Parkhurst, where the house is new and the aircon runs all day, fragrance builds up faster than in an older home with open windows. If in doubt, ask the florist to keep it low-scent. They know how.

A Birthday When You Cannot Be There

You want flowers at their door before they leave for work or before the dinner plans start. Parkhurst deliveries tend to run mid-morning through early afternoon, depending on the route that day. If the order is in before 2pm, it arrives same day. If there is a specific window you need, add it to the delivery notes. The florist reads every note.

Nobody-home is the main risk in a suburb full of working parents. Most Edenbrook homes have a covered front entry. Include "leave at front door if not home" in your delivery instructions and the florist will place the arrangement in shade. Birthday flowers for mum are the most common order type from this postcode, from what our records show. The call from the recipient is the real gift. The flowers are the trigger for the call.

On the card, keep it warm and brief. "Happy birthday. Miss you." carries more weight than three paragraphs.

They Just Moved In

They have been talking about this house for months. You want to mark it. But the timing is tricky: send too early and the place is still full of packing boxes with no surface to put flowers on. A week after the move lands better, when the initial adrenaline has faded and they are stuck assembling flat-pack furniture at eleven at night.

A box arrangement survives better in a house with no vase yet. The celebration flowers category covers the colour range. On the card, "Welcome home" or "Congrats on the house" is plenty. One of our partner florists near Parkhurst can leave it at the front entry with a neighbour if the new owners are not in.

Anna, qualified florist: The address is the thing. Callers sending housewarming flowers fell into two groups on the phones. The first group already had the address. The second group had the suburb but not the house number, because the recipient said "we're moving to Parkhurst" and never followed up with the street. Confirming the address is not ruining the surprise. A failed delivery is worse than a spoiled secret. I would also check whether the house number matches what's in council records. In estates like Edenbrook, where the Heritage Village and Parkhurst State School are the landmarks the florist uses for navigation, a number that changed between survey and settlement can add twenty minutes to the run.

Not sure what to send?

The Blissful Botanics in the grid above is white and green, carries no fragrance risk, and suits any occasion from a thank-you to a sympathy to a housewarming. It is the pick for the person who wants to send something considered without committing to a colour the recipient might not like. The green chrysanthemums alone will last twelve to fourteen days. If you have a reason to send flowers but cannot name the occasion, start there.

Same Day Cutoff

2pm weekdays, 10am Saturdays. No Sunday delivery. Parkhurst is in the 4702 postcode, north of the CBD, and the Ring Road route has shortened the drive from the florist's base. Sunday orders queue for Monday morning.

Flat rate, subsidised. Parkhurst covers 20 square kilometres with a mix of Edenbrook residential and industrial zones along the Bruce Highway. The $16.95 covers both.

New Estate Addresses in Edenbrook

If the recipient moved in recently, double-check the street number with them before ordering. Some Edenbrook addresses are too new for GPS mapping apps. Include a delivery note with a nearby landmark or cross street if the house number is freshly assigned. The florist will call the recipient if needed. Order before 2pm today and your flowers are there this afternoon.

"Great service and beautiful arrangement. Lovely bouquet delivered as requested and followed instructions in regards to not including certain flowers that may cause allergies. Pleasure to deal with."

Margaret · verified customer · ordered to Parkhurst, 31 May 2025

Get the Same Thing

Margaret asked for specific flowers to be excluded because of allergies. The florist read the note and substituted.

Anna on allergy accommodation

The blooms that cause the most problems are oriental lilies (pollen triggers hay fever and stains fabric), stock (heavy clove fragrance that fills a room), and chrysanthemum foliage in people with ragweed sensitivity. When a customer flags an allergy, the florist pulls those and replaces them with something structurally similar. Roses for the lily, lisianthus for the stock, clean-leafed foliage for the chrysanthemum greenery. The arrangement looks the same. The recipient breathes easier. What Margaret's review tells me is that the florist actually read the delivery note and acted on it. In high-volume production, allergy requests get missed more often than they should. This one did not.

After You Order

Your order routes to a florist near Parkhurst. They check the address, select the blooms, build the arrangement on the bench, and load the van. Most Parkhurst orders are on the road within ninety minutes of confirmation. You will not get a tracking link or a photo before delivery. The florist focuses on what they are making, not on updating an app.

If something goes wrong, call 1300 360 469 between 7am and 6pm weekdays. You can also email [email protected] at any time. We deal with complaints the same day they come in.

Siobhan, Andrew's partner and the other half of Lily's Florist

I read every complaint that comes through. Some are about timing, some are about the arrangement not matching the photo (and we should do a better job of explaining the gap between the standard price and the premium photo, honestly). But the ones from new estates are almost always the same story. The GPS dropped the pin on the wrong lot. The florist drove around for twenty minutes. By the time the flowers arrived the surprise was not a surprise any more. When that happens I ring the florist myself and we sort it that afternoon. If the arrangement cannot be recovered, we send a replacement. No form. No argument. Just a phone call and a new bunch at the door.

Your flowers travel from the cool room to the front door. In the heat of a Central Queensland summer, the florist wraps them with a water reservoir at the base and runs the delivery in an insulated section of the van. The drive from the closest florist to Edenbrook is under twenty minutes on a clear run.

Andrew Thomson
Co-founder, Lily's Florist

I write every location page after 9pm, once Asha and Ivy are in bed and the house in Kingscliff goes quiet. Each page starts with the same question: what does the florist need to know about this suburb that Google Maps will not tell them? For Parkhurst, the answer was addresses. New estate addresses that shift between survey and settlement. Edenbrook house numbers that change after the street is gazetted. GPS pins that land on vacant lots because the mapping data is six months behind the concrete.

Siobhan and I built Lily's Florist from a flower shop we bought in Kingscliff in 2006, backing ourselves against our accountant's advice with a baby on the way and zero experience. The network is over 800 partner florists now. The full story is here.
