These get ordered in the half hour after a phone call. Wandobah Road holds the chapel, crematory and lawn cemetery on one site, so flowers for the service are one turn off it, and condolences go to the house.

Memorial Park is a lawn cemetery. On turf a tall vase tips, so a wreath or sheath is what holds.

The new acute building opened in January 2026 with separate doors: Marquis Street for the inpatient unit, Anzac Parade for emergency. Hospital flowers go to reception, not the bedside, and in our experience the desk logs it and ward staff carry it in. Ward and full name in the notes, and day two beats day one.

Boxed, never hand-tied. Nobody on a ward is finding scissors and a vase. No lilies: the pollen travels on a sleeve into the next room.

Mine shifts and machinery work dominate this workforce, so the house might hold someone who came off nights at six, or nobody until dark. A safe spot in the notes or a neighbour beats hoping, and in January a west-facing porch finishes a birthday bunch before the door opens.
