Hospital Flower Delivery to Scott Memorial Hospital, Scone

Order flowers for someone at Scott Memorial Hospital in Scone and we'll have a local Upper Hunter florist make and deliver them, often the same day. Call us on 1300 360 469 or order online before 2pm weekdays or 10am Saturdays for same day delivery. $16.95 delivery, Australia wide. Browse our full hospital flowers range or keep reading for Anna's advice on what actually works in a ward room and what doesn't. She spent fifteen years on the bench before joining us, and she has some strong opinions that'll save you from a well meaning mistake.

Choosing Hospital Flowers That Actually Work Qualified florist, 15+ years on the bench

"Hospital rooms are small, warm, and the patient can't exactly get up to fuss with flowers. The first thing I always told people ordering for a hospital is go with a boxed arrangement. The box is the vase. It arrives ready to sit on the bedside table. No scissors, no trimming, no hunting around for something to put them in. A hand tied bunch looks gorgeous but it needs work, and someone recovering from surgery is not doing that work."

"The other thing with hospitals is scent. Some wards have policies now about strongly scented flowers and lilies are usually the first thing they ban. It's a respiratory thing. Sick people have compromised systems and a heavy fragrance can trigger nausea or headaches. I'd stick with gerberas, chrysanthemums, or roses for any medical delivery. Plenty of colour, no risk of making someone feel worse."

"Scott Memorial is a smaller hospital, 48 beds, which usually means the nurses' station is close to the wards. That actually works in your favour because the flowers won't be sitting forgotten at some distant reception desk for three hours. Smaller hospitals tend to get things to patients faster. But you still need to give us the ward name, bed number, and the patient's mobile. Without those details, even a good delivery can stall."

Anna worked in floristry for over fifteen years before she joined us back when we were still running things from the garage in Pottsville. We hired her because we needed someone who could talk flowers properly, both to customers and to the florists in our network. She's our bookkeeper now but her knowledge runs through everything we write about how flowers behave in the real world.

Our very first hospital delivery was to Murwillumbah Hospital in 2007. Asha was a newborn in the back seat, it was 37 degrees, we couldn't find a park, and we had five minutes to get the flowers to reception before the patient's family left for the day. That was us, one car, one baby, one bunch of flowers, running across a hospital car park. Scone is a long way from Murwillumbah but the feeling is the same. Someone is in a hospital bed and the flowers need to get there properly. The difference now is we have over 800 partner florists so nobody has to do it with an infant and a rising panic about parking.

The florist filling your Scone order works in the Upper Hunter. They know Scott Memorial, they've delivered there before, and they carry the flowers in themselves. No Australia Post boxes. No overnight couriers. Fresh, local, that day.

Three Arrangements Anna Would Pick for a Hospital Room

We asked Anna which of our products she'd recommend specifically for someone in Scott Memorial. She picked three, and she had reasons for each.

Florist's Choice Arrangement ($81.75) is the one Anna comes back to most for hospital orders. "You're giving the florist permission to use what's freshest and what works best for the setting," she says. "A good florist will factor in the hospital environment when they build it. They'll skip the heavily scented stems, they'll keep it compact enough for a bedside table, and they'll use whatever is at its peak that morning. You get a better arrangement because the florist gets creative freedom." With 519 verified reviews, it's also our most ordered product by a wide margin.

Pretty Pink Arrangement ($85.75) is Anna's pick for maternity wards. Scott Memorial has obstetric and antenatal services, so there are always new mums coming through. "Soft pinks are calming without being bland. And this one comes in a box, which matters. New parents are running on no sleep. They don't need another thing to deal with." It's also a popular choice for general get well, especially if you know the person likes something a bit brighter than whites and creams. Sixty verified reviews back it up.

Rose & Carnation Arrangement ($110.95) is the one Anna suggests when you want to send something with a bit more weight to it. "Carnations are underrated. People think they're old fashioned but from a floristry perspective, they're one of the most reliable hospital flowers going. They handle warm rooms, they don't shed pollen, and they last. Properly conditioned carnations can push past ten days in the vase. Pair them with roses and you've got something that looks considered without being over the top." Twenty seven reviews, and it works well for longer hospital stays where you want the flowers to still look good on day six or seven.

One thing Anna always mentions for boxed arrangements in hospital: the water in the floral foam goes stagnant after a few days. If the patient or a visiting family member can use a sports bottle or even a cup, drawing out the old water and adding fresh every couple of days makes a real difference. The stems drink from that foam and if the water sitting in it has gone off, the bacteria clog the stems from the inside. Two minutes of care adds days of life.

What to Send to Scott Memorial Hospital

Scott Memorial is a 48 bed public hospital on Stafford Street in Scone, part of Hunter New England Health. It covers everything from emergency and general surgery through to maternity, palliative care, and rehabilitation. The reason someone is in hospital changes what you should send, and getting it right matters more than spending more.

Recovering from surgery or illness?

Boxed arrangements from our get well flowers range are designed for exactly this. They sit flat, need no vase, and won't tip over on a hospital tray. Our flower arrangements category is also worth browsing as everything in it comes ready to display. If the patient is in ICU, the flowers will be held at the nurses' station until they move to a regular room. That's standard hospital procedure, not a delivery issue.

Welcoming a new baby at Scott Memorial?

Scott Memorial has maternity and antenatal services, so our new baby flowers are a regular order to this hospital. Anna's advice: nothing heavily scented, nothing that sheds petals near a cot, and nothing that needs daily maintenance. New parents have enough going on. A bright, simple boxed arrangement ticks every box.

Just want them to know you're thinking of them?

Not every hospital visit is a crisis. Sometimes it's rehab, or a check up that turned into an overnight stay, or just a rough week. Our thinking of you flowers are a quiet way to say you noticed, you care, and you didn't need a formal reason to send something.

Saying thank you to the staff?

Nurses and staff at smaller regional hospitals like Scott Memorial do an enormous amount with limited resources. Our thank you flowers to the ward are a simple way to show appreciation. A bright bunch or arrangement left at the nurses' station tends to end up on the shared desk where everyone sees it. We can address the card to the ward team rather than an individual.

Supporting a family through palliative care?

Scott Memorial has palliative care services, and flowers sent during that time need a different approach. Anna tends toward whites, soft creams, and muted greens for these moments. "They're calming. They don't compete with grief." Our sympathy flowers are arranged with that in mind. If the family has moved to caring for someone at home, our sympathy flowers for home range works well too.

Not sure what to send?

Our Florist's Choice Arrangement at $81.75 is our most popular hospital order. You leave the decision with the local florist who knows what's fresh and what suits a hospital room. If you're working to a tighter budget, our flowers under $60 range still arrives beautifully, made by the same local florist.

How to Order Hospital Flowers to Scone

Hospital orders need a few extra details that regular flower deliveries don't. This is because the courier can't just leave flowers on a doorstep, they need to know exactly where in the hospital the patient is. Before you order, make sure you have: the patient's full name, the ward they're in, their bed number, and their mobile phone number. We also need your full name, mobile, and email. We won't usually call the patient (we don't want to ruin the surprise), but in rare cases our florist may need to reach them.

Phone: 1300 360 469. Our call centre is in Armidale NSW, staffed by Australians who know how hospital deliveries work. If you're unsure what to order, they can walk you through it.

Same day cutoff (weekdays): 2pm. The florist needs time to source, prepare, and condition the stems before building the arrangement and getting it out on the road. A rushed arrangement means shorter vase life and that matters when someone is in hospital for days.

Same day cutoff (Saturdays): 10am. Saturday delivery windows are compressed because most florist shops close by midday. Orders after 10am will be delivered first thing Monday.

No Sunday delivery. Flower markets close Saturday afternoon. Sunday arrangements would use stock that's already lost a day of freshness, and we'd rather not send flowers that won't last the distance to someone who's unwell.

Delivery fee: $16.95. We subsidise the actual delivery cost in most cases, especially for regional deliveries like Scone where distances are longer.

ICU note: If the patient has had surgery and is still in ICU, the flowers will be delivered to the hospital but held at the nurses' station until they're moved to a regular room. This is hospital policy across Australia, not something we control.

Regional delivery note: Scone is a regional delivery and most orders arrive same day without any issue. On the rare occasion our partner florist can't make the cutoff, we'll contact you before the end of the day so you're not left wondering. We'd rather be upfront than have you sitting there refreshing your phone.

Our reviews are collected through Feefo, an independent review platform endorsed by Google. We can't edit them, we can't delete them, and every single one is verified against a real order. Over 22,800 customers have left feedback and we've earned the Feefo Trusted Service Award three years running.

After You Order

Once your order comes through, we match it with a partner florist in the Upper Hunter area who covers Scone and Scott Memorial Hospital. They source the freshest available stems, build the arrangement, and deliver it the same day if you've ordered within the cutoff. The florist is a real shop with trained staff, not a warehouse, not a production line. They know Stafford Street. They've walked into Scott Memorial before.

If something goes wrong, and sometimes things do, we ask that you contact us within 24 hours. Send photos of both sides of the arrangement to [email protected], or call us on 1300 360 469, or use our live chat. We've been doing this since 2009 and we sort it out quickly.

About the Author

Siobhan and Andrew, founders of Lily's Florist, with their daughters Asha and Ivy on a family trip
Andrew
Co-founder, Lily's Florist

In 2006, Siobhan and I bought a tiny flower shop in Kingscliff NSW. Our accountant told us not to. We had a baby on the way, no experience with flowers, and no real plan beyond a gut feeling that this was the right move. An old Yellow Pages ad started ringing the shop phone with delivery requests from all over the country and we thought, hang on, there's something in this. That accident became Lily's Florist, now a network of over 800 partner florists covering every state and territory in Australia.

We're still a Mum and Dad business. Our daughters Asha and Ivy have grown up with Lily's. Most of our decisions still get made at the dinner table or on the drive to netball. For the full story, including the prune incident on Tweed Valley Way, read our About Us page.
