About Our Florist Partner Network in Tweed Heads

For those who don't know, we bought a real florist and gift shop in Kingscliff on Marine Parade, just down the road from Tweed Heads, in 2007. The initial goal was to shut down the flower side of the business and build the gifting side up by adding products like skincare and baby products. However, the person we bought the business from had just take an out an 'old school' yellow pages advertisement and we kept getting calls for flowers, like loads of them, every day of the week. After a few months of telling people we don't do flowers any more we decided to bring the flowers back into the store and for some time stocked flowers again. We would send flowers just to the local area like to Salt, Casuarina, Cudgen, and Cabarita Beach and of course Kingscliff, we would also have people walking in to buy flowers - yet daily - we would get requests for flowers to Tweed Heads, South Tweed Heads and even as far as Bilambil and Coolangatta. This gave us a great idea, what if we acted like, sort of a wire service, for these people and had the flowers delivered for them.

After giving the idea some thought, we shyly, approached a florist that used to be on Minjungbal Drive in Tweed Heads and asked her if she would be interested in working with us to delivery flowers for customers ringing us to the Greater Tweed area. We would not charge her any fees, but our only request was that she cover some of the commissions that we agreed to, by adding more flowers to the flower orders we sent her. She smiled and agreed with gusto! Outside of our hometown of Kingscliff and where our shop was located, Tweed Heads became our first ever delivery location. From there we partnered with a florist in Banora Point and Murwillumbah which gave us complete coverage of the Tweed Shire. 

Although we had not become 'Lily's Florist' at this point in time, the seeds had been sown, and a year later Lily's Florist was born.

Our partnerships were so positive with our florists that we decided to try our hand in other regional NSW locations, also QLD and VIC, all with similar outcomes. In 2010, with one young child now, we decided to go fully online with flowers and sold our florist/gifts store. A little side note, we still live in Kingscliff, 18 years later.
