Flowers to Cheero Point, the Bushland Side of the Hawkesbury

You're not going to be there this week. That's the order behind almost every call we route to Cheero Point. A daughter in Sydney, a son in Brisbane, a friend who hasn't found the right weekend in months. Your person chose the bushland for the quiet, and the trade-off is the trip you keep meaning to make. Yes, we deliver here. A florist working the corridor handles the run, same day if you make the 2pm weekday cutoff or the 10am Saturday cutoff. I'm Siobhan. Andrew and I started Lily's Florist in 2009, three years after we bought a flower shop in Kingscliff, and the Hawkesbury crossing has been part of the network since the first calls came in.

Cheero Point Road peels off the Old Pacific Highway as it drops down toward the Mooney Mooney Creek crossing, then through bush to a strip of waterfront blocks. The driveways aren't always numbered against the road, and a few addresses are easier to find by the boat shed than by the letterbox. Two lines in the order notes (a property name, a colour, which side the gate opens) save the driver a turn-around in a spot where turning around isn't always easy.

I'm Siobhan. Andrew and I bought a flower shop in 2006 and started Lily's Florist in 2009, building a network that now covers over 800 partner florists across Australia. We got to know the Woy Woy peninsula properly in 2019 when we drove down for a long weekend at Terrigal with Asha and Ivy. Andrew wanted to explore the back roads afterward and we ended up winding through all these little waterfront pockets along Brisbane Water. Cheero Point was one of them. Blink and you would miss the turnoff, but once you are down there the water views make sense of the whole peninsula. Our full story is here.

What to Send to Cheero Point

Almost every house in Cheero Point faces the water. The estuary is right there, Brisbane Water, and the breeze off it carries salt. That matters when you are choosing flowers because salt changes how long certain stems last. If you are not sure what to pick for someone who lives this close to the water, start with what actually thrives in that environment. And if the flowers are heading to Gosford Hospital rather than a home, check with the ward first as some units restrict fresh arrangements due to infection control or allergen policies.

Native flowers

Our native flower range is the strongest option for a Cheero Point address. Banksias, waratahs, leucadendrons and grevilleas are built for Australian conditions and they handle salt air far better than imported varieties. They also dry beautifully, which means the recipient gets weeks of colour rather than days. If you want to add daisies for a softer look, native gerberas pair well without losing the resilience.

Anna Qualified florist, worked at Salt in Kingscliff before joining us

"There is a common idea that natives are filler. Something you throw in behind the roses to pad out the arrangement. That is completely wrong. Natives are some of the hardest working stems a florist can use. The waxy coating on a banksia or a leucadendron acts like a shield against salt air and dry conditions. Regular petals, roses especially, absorb salt and lose moisture through the tissue. Within a couple of days near the water they start to curl at the edges and go papery."

"I worked at a florist at Salt in Kingscliff, right on the coast. It took one summer of customer complaints before I worked out the pattern. Every arrangement that went to a beachfront or waterfront address and fell apart early had the same problem: soft petals in salt air. Once I started leading with natives for coastal deliveries the complaints stopped. The flowers lasted longer and looked better because they were actually suited to where they were going."

"For somewhere like Cheero Point, where the Brisbane Water breeze is constant, a native arrangement is the smart choice. Not the boring choice."

Love and romance

Romance flowers do not always mean a dozen red roses. A mixed arrangement in deep pinks and burgundy tones can be more striking and more personal. If the recipient loves traditional roses, go for it. If you are not sure, our gift hampers combine flowers with chocolates or wine for something that covers more ground.

Congratulations

New job, new home on the peninsula, retirement, or just something good that happened and deserves recognition. Celebration flowers in bold oranges and yellows feel festive without being too formal. The florist will build something that matches the energy of the occasion.

Sympathy

Soft whites, creams and muted greens are the standard palette for sympathy flowers sent to a home. The colours are calming and they do not compete with grief. Keep the card message short and genuine. If the flowers are for a service or funeral, let us know at checkout and the florist will adjust the arrangement to suit. Our full sympathy range covers both settings.

Not sure what to pick?

The Florist's Choice at $71.95 hands the decision to the florist who knows what is freshest and what works. You set the price, they pick the stems. If you want to browse by colour or budget first, we have a full flowers under $60 range and a colour guide to help narrow things down.

How Your Flowers Get to Cheero Point

Chalkboard showing how a Lily's Florist order is routed to a partner florist who makes and delivers a fresh arrangement to Cheero Point

We match your order to a partner florist covering the Woy Woy peninsula area. That florist is a real shop with a workbench and a cool room, not a packing warehouse. They choose the stems, put the arrangement together by hand, and personally run the delivery out to Cheero Point.

Ordering Flowers to Cheero Point

Phone: 1300 360 469, Monday to Friday 7am to 5pm, Saturday 7am to 12pm AEST. Online orders are open any time and we pick them up first thing next business day if placed after hours.

Same day delivery: Order before 2pm weekdays or 10am Saturdays. The florist needs that window to select stems, do the diagonal cut, strip below the waterline, soak them in conditioned water, build the arrangement, and physically drive it out to Cheero Point. Cut that window short and the flowers skip their hydration, which costs days of vase life once they are sitting in the recipient's home.

No Sunday delivery: Flemington Markets in Sydney shut on Sunday. Most Central Coast florists buy their stock there. A florist working Sunday is using stems left over from Friday's market run, which means the flowers in your arrangement are already two days into their lifespan before they even reach the vase. Order on Sunday and we will deliver Monday with stock that came through the markets fresh that morning.

Delivery fee: $16.95 across Cheero Point and the surrounding peninsula. The real cost of a single delivery run often exceeds that but we absorb the difference to keep the total reasonable for you.

After You Order

The florist takes it from there, choosing stems, assembling the arrangement, and delivering by hand that same day if you made the cutoff.

If something goes wrong, get in touch within 24 hours. Take a photo of the front and back of the arrangement and email it to [email protected], call 1300 360 469, or use the live chat on our website. Co-founder, Lily's Florist

Andrew and I bought a tired flower shop in Kingscliff in 2006, pregnant, zero experience, and against our accountant's explicit advice. We started the Lily's Florist network in 2009 after a Yellow Pages listing we never meant to keep started bringing in flower orders from across the country. That accident became a business. We now work with over 800 partner florists and our two daughters, Asha (18) and Ivy (14), still hear more about flower logistics at the dinner table than they would like. Read our full story here.
