I'm Siobhan. Andrew and I used to live in Drummoyne, before that Strathfield, and if you had told us back then that we'd end up running a flower delivery network from the far north coast of NSW we probably would have laughed. We bought a little flower shop in Kingscliff in 2006, knew nothing about flowers, had a baby arriving in seven months, and sort of figured it out as we went. That shop became Lily's Florist in 2009. The full story is here if you want it.
Ducking down a laneway and eating something incredible for fifteen bucks while the kid tells you about whatever she's watching on her phone. That part felt exactly the same as every good Sydney memory we've ever had.

Asha at Spice Alley last April. We ordered too much, ate all of it anyway.
We don't get down to Sydney enough anymore. Last April we had an excuse though, so we loaded up the Tesla and pointed it toward Chippendale. First stop was One Central Park on Broadway, you know the one, the tower that looks like someone left it in the garden too long and the vines took over. Then Spice Alley. Lanterns overhead, that warm glow, rice paper rolls and a nasi goreng with a fried egg sitting perfectly on top, little bowls of things we couldn't name but ate anyway. Chippendale has changed a lot since Andrew was a kid catching the train through Central. Shinier now, greener, probably more expensive. But the laneways still have that same energy.
Chippendale is minutes from Flemington Markets. The biggest flower market in the country, and the florists covering inner Sydney buy there early, sometimes before five in the morning. Monday stock is Saturday's harvest. It has been sitting in cool storage all weekend, fully hydrated, untouched. By Monday morning those stems are fat with water and haven't been handled by half a dozen people yet.
Monday flowers outlast Friday flowers from the same florist, nine times out of ten. Friday stock was Wednesday's market buy, already three days into its lifespan before it even reached a vase. I used to time my best orders around this and the difference was days, not hours.
I took a call once from a woman in Adelaide who was sending flowers to her daughter's apartment on Kensington Street. She kept saying "I need it to last, she works long hours and she won't remember to change the water." I told her to request the Monday delivery if she could. Explained the market timing. She rang back two weeks later to say her daughter's flowers were still going. Two weeks in a Chippendale apartment with the aircon running. That only happens when the stems are hours old, properly conditioned, and the florist picked varieties that handle dry indoor air. Timing your order around the market cycle is free and it makes days of difference.
You place an order, we match it to a partner florist in or close to Chippendale who sources stems from Flemington that morning, builds your arrangement, and runs the delivery themselves. The inner city corridor means those flowers travel a short distance from market to bench to door. Chippendale orders spend less time in transit than almost anywhere else in Sydney, and that shows up in how long they last.

* How it works. You order, we connect with a local Chippendale florist, they deliver fresh. No post. No boxes.
Chippendale is young, creative, and mostly apartments. A lot of the flowers heading into this part of Sydney are for people who live in warehouse conversions along Kensington Street or the new builds near Central Park, and the occasions tend to reflect that. Our roses are always popular for the obvious reasons, but we see a fair spread across everything below.
Roses are the reflex. Nothing wrong with that. But a good florist can build something with lisianthus, garden roses, and seasonal fillers that feels less predictable and often lasts longer in the vase. If you want red and classic, our love and romance flowers are a solid starting point. If you are open to the florist choosing, tell them. They love being asked.
People default to red roses because they feel safe. I get it. But lisianthus has a similar ruffled look, comes in at a lower price point, and lasts longer in a warm apartment. I used to suggest it to callers who said "roses but not boring" and it landed every time. The florist will know what is looking good that morning.
Bright and cheerful works here. Something with colour that lifts a room, especially in apartments where natural light can be limited. Our thank you flowers lean toward warm tones that stand out against grey walls and white kitchens.
A mixed bunch with some texture gives it personality. Gerberas bring the pop of colour, chrysanthemums fill the arrangement out, and a few standout stems carry the weight. Beats a dozen of anything identical. Order before 2pm and it is there today.
Timing is the thing. Most Chippendale buildings have a buzzer system, and if the recipient is at work during the day, the florist needs to know how to get in. Include buzzer codes, unit numbers, or concierge details in the delivery notes when you order. It saves the florist a failed attempt and means your birthday surprise actually lands. Browse our birthday flowers and add the details at checkout.
I always told callers to double check the unit number. Sounds obvious but you would be surprised how many people order to "apartment 12" when the building uses letters, or give the street number but not the unit. One wrong digit and the florist is buzzing an empty apartment while the flowers sit in a warm van. Get the details right and the rest takes care of itself.
These are the hardest orders to get right and the most important to get right. Our sympathy flowers lean toward whites, soft creams, and muted greens. Those colours work because they are calming. They do not compete with grief.
Colour matters more than people think with sympathy. Bright arrangements feel wrong in that context, even if the person loved colour when they were alive. Whites and creams read as respectful without needing to explain why. If you are not sure, trust the florist on this one. They have done it hundreds of times.
Most common question we get. Let the florist decide. Florist's Choice from $74.50 means they pick the best stems from what they bought that morning and build something balanced. No guesswork on your end. If budget is the main concern, have a look at flowers under $60 for smaller arrangements that still arrive hand delivered and fresh.
Phone: 1300 360 469. Online: pick your arrangement, add the delivery address including unit and buzzer details, and check out. We handle the rest.
Same day cutoff: 2pm weekdays, 10am Saturdays. Flowers need a couple of hours of prep before they go out the door. The florist has to get to the market, pick the right stems, condition them properly, and plan the delivery run. Chippendale is a short run from most inner city shops, but the making takes time regardless.
No Sunday delivery. Flower markets close on Sundays. A Sunday delivery would mean using Friday's stock, and by Sunday those flowers have lost two days of vase life before they even arrive. We would rather not deliver than deliver something that won't last the week.
Delivery: $16.95. That is subsidised. The actual cost of a hand delivered, made fresh, same day arrangement is higher, but we absorb part of it to keep it accessible.
Once your order is placed, we route it to a partner florist covering Chippendale who makes your arrangement fresh and delivers same day if you ordered within cutoff. You will receive a confirmation email with the details.
If something is not right with your delivery, send photos of the front and back of the arrangement to [email protected] within 24 hours and we will sort it. Problems are rare but we handle them quickly. Phone is 1300 360 469, live chat works too.
