Your flower gift is powerful enough to deepen your connection with those who matter and bring you closer to your loved ones.
You may be curious to know what is a partner florist and what does it mean for my flower order. To put it simply, Lily's Florist has a number of partner, real florists in and around Hobart, including Hobart suburbs, and outer areas surrounding Hobart. These partners have real stores and shops, hire real and local staff and are experts in their field. Our flowers don't come from a warehouse, or are posted overnight. Your flowers are made by these local experts.
When you order your flowers to Hobart, or surrounding areas, whether you order by phone or online, your order is routed to one of our local partner florists based not only on the postcode where the flowers are going, but what is in the partner shop at the time. For example, if you ordered 24 red roses to the Hobart CBD and our partner florist only had 12 red roses left for that day, the order will be rerouted to the next florist closest to the Hobart CBD, that florist would then deliver your roses, it really is that simple.
In 2007 my partner and I bought a florist and gift shop in Northern NSW. We knew nothing about flowers but had a vision to tone down the flower side and build up the gifts side of the business to include, not just trinkets like they were, but to other products like skin care for men and women, baby products like BPA free baby bottles and just a few flowers in store for walkins that we had a contract florist deliver daily to the store for us. At least that was the plan.
Unbeknownst to us, the previous owner had taken out a Yellow Pages advertisement (yeah the book) just before we bought the business, at great cost to her back then, so that explained the 40+ calls a day we were still getting in the shop much to our annoyance (as out baby was often trying to sleep in the back of the shop and the phone was really loud :)), at times - initially - as our focus was more on gifts.
What struck us more than anything was the amount of calls we were turning away for people wanting to order flowers to other parts of Australia. That is how it was done back then, you call your local florist shop and ask them to organise the flowers for you.
After months of turning all those calls away, a thunderous light bulb moment appeared whilst counting the 'cents' we had many that cold winters day, really struggling hard; what if we took the orders for those people calling, called around ourselves, and filled the orders for them whilst taking a small commission for our efforts.
We had previously had loads of Hobart flowers calls over 6 months, all of which we had turned away, so we decided to take the next. Nervously, we found and called a Florist in Hobart named True Colours Florist. We told the owner who we were and asked if she could help us, she agreed, so over the next few months we called her around 3 times to ask her to place orders for us. Which got us thinking, we had 'cut our teeth' in ecommerce by making a website for our gift shop, what if we made a website for the florist in Hobart and gave her all the orders that came via it. So we partnered with a company called Ashop and built, by then, our 3rd website. The owner of the shop was very happy, she was getting at least 10 more orders a week without spending anything on marketing, and we were getting more orders via that website which was helping to save us from financial issues.
Based on the calls we were getting in the shop, we rolled that model out to a number of other, mainly regional, areas around Australia but after some time, having to manage so many website became impossible so we decided to shut all the websites down, created one national brand and call it Lily's Florist, and build landing pages for those florists we had partnered with instead. In 2008, Lily's Florist was born and Hobart was one of our foundation locations and pages, yes, this very page you are on right now.
We understand that what we just shared is a pretty long yarn, but that's only a fraction of it. For a full and in detail version please visit our About Us Page.
We mentioned "award winning customer service team" above here and at the very top of this page. That is big and bold statement, without some backing this up and context it's just unnecessary puffery. It's true, Lily's Florist won a Feefo Trusted Service Award this year and being awarded it isn't easy within an industry that, at times, can be so subjective like flowers which gives weight to the adage 'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'. Meaning, 3 people can see the same flower bouquet, or receive the same high level of service, and think three different things - especially flowers. So, aligning ourselves with a Google endoreed 3rd party review site was and still is a risk but we feel it was worth it. Reviews allow us to learn what we are doing right and what we are doing wrong, to improve, to evolve, to think outside the box based on honest feedback from customer experiences.
To qualify for a Feefo Trusted Service Award a business must receive more than 50 customer reviews in a 12 month period with an average star rating of at least 4. In that period Lily's Florist received 3,025 reviews from customers who have placed an order. 2,406 of those were either 4 or 5 stars which was an epic result and more than 60 times the minimum required to qualify!
For same day delivery across Hobart and surrounding suburbs, please place your order before 2 PM on Monday to Friday, or before 10 AM on a Saturday. Orders placed after these cutoff times will be delivered the following business day.
We work with a network of professional, local partner florists who have real flower shops in the Hobart area. Your order is sent to the nearest local expert, who then makes the arrangement using their fresh, daily stock and coordinates the delivery. Your flowers are always made by a local florist, not shipped overnight from a warehouse.
Our delivery network covers the entire Hobart metropolitan area. This includes the Hobart CBD, surrounding suburbs, and key neighbouring areas like North Hobart, West Hobart, and South Hobart. If you are unsure about a specific address, please call us.
Yes, we have extensive experience with these important deliveries. We coordinate directly with local funeral homes to ensure timing is appropriate for the service. For hospitals, we are familiar with ward requirements, just be sure to provide the patient's full name, and wing or bed number, to ensure a smooth delivery.
Absolutely. You can enhance any floral gift with a range of extras, including premium chocolates, balloons, teddy bears, a glass vase, or a selection of wine. You can add these items to your cart after you have selected a bouquet or arrangement.
