I'm Siobhan. Andrew and I built this network over almost twenty years, starting with a single florist shop and a lot of naivety. We now work with partner florists right across the Central Coast, including the Ourimbah area, which means your order stays local and your flowers stay fresh. Here's our full story if you want the longer version.
Most people pick flowers by colour alone. Red because it feels romantic. Yellow because it seems cheerful. I learned to think about colour differently. In my training in North Carolina, colour theory was structural. Dark blooms carry visual weight. Place them low in an arrangement and the whole piece feels grounded. Lift them too high and the eye reads it as top heavy, even when the stems are perfectly balanced in the vase. Light tones do the opposite. They open up the top and give it room to breathe.
You can feel when the colour balance is wrong even if you cannot explain it. I used to test this with customers at the shop in Kingscliff. I would show them two arrangements built with the same flowers, same vase, same number of stems. One had the darker blooms placed low and the paler tones reaching upward. The other was mixed at random. Every time, people chose the balanced version. They would say it looked "nicer" but could not articulate why. Visual weight is doing the work beneath the surface, and it is one of the things that separates a florist who arranges from a florist who builds.
For somewhere like Ourimbah, where your flowers might land on a student's desk near the uni campus, a family kitchen bench backing onto the creek, or an open plan living room in one of the newer builds off the highway, that balance matters more than people realise. Your arrangement sits in a real space with competing visual noise. A properly weighted bouquet holds its own on a cluttered table. A randomly assembled one disappears into the background or, worse, looks like it is falling over. The best partner florists I have spoken with over the years do this without thinking about it. Thousands of builds teach your hands where the dark stems go before your brain catches up.
This attention to colour and composition is what a local partner florist brings to your order. Stock for the Central Coast comes through Flemington Markets in Sydney, usually arriving before dawn. A florist in the Ourimbah area picks up those stems, conditions them in water for two to four hours so the vascular system is fully hydrated, and then builds your arrangement that same day. Conditioning is the step most people never see and most warehouse operations skip entirely. It is the difference between flowers that hold for four days and flowers that hold for ten.

* How it works. You order, we connect with a partner florist in the Ourimbah area, they deliver fresh. No post. No boxes.
Ourimbah sits between the M1 motorway and the bush. The University of Newcastle's Central Coast Campus brings a younger crowd through during semester, but the suburb itself is quieter than that. Families, creek frontage properties, a few hobby farms further back from the highway. What people order here tends to reflect that mix.
With the uni campus right here in Ourimbah, graduation season hits this suburb directly. If your graduate is sharing a house with three other students, think about the environment those flowers are walking into. No air conditioning in most older rentals up here. Limited bench space. Probably no vase. A flower arrangement in a box or container solves all three problems because it arrives ready to display and holds water without needing anything extra. Stick with hardy stems. Roses and alstroemeria handle warm rooms better than delicate options like sweet peas that wilt within hours if the house is stuffy. Our celebration flowers suit the mood without overwhelming a small kitchen bench.
No occasion, no pressure. These orders come through more than people expect, and they land differently because nobody is anticipating them. For a just because delivery, you do not need anything structured or formal. A mixed bunch with seasonal stems works because the variety reads as spontaneous, not planned. Our just because flowers range is built around that idea. Stems that look picked rather than engineered. If the recipient has no vase handy, mention it in the order notes and the florist can include a simple wrap that stands in a jar.
Birthdays are the one occasion where you can go bold with colour and nobody questions it. If you know what they like, pick a colour from our birthday flowers range. If you do not know, let the florist decide. A partner florist who builds bouquets every day understands colour placement instinctively. The visual weight principle Anna described above? They do it without thinking about it.
Grief narrows your visual tolerance. Bright colours that would feel cheerful in a normal room can feel aggressive when someone is exhausted and raw. Whites, soft creams, and muted greens work because they sit below the threshold where colour demands attention. Your eye can rest on them. Our sympathy flowers are built with this in mind. A skilled florist limits the palette and softens the texture, usually choosing blooms with rounded, open faces rather than tight buds. If the flowers are going to a funeral service, the florist coordinates timing with the director so they arrive that morning and not the day before.
Gosford Hospital is the closest major hospital to Ourimbah. If your recipient is in a ward, go with a boxed arrangement rather than a hand tied bunch. Hospital patients do not have scissors, a vase, or bench space. A boxed option arrives ready to sit on a bedside table without any fuss. Skip lilies and stock for hospital deliveries. Both release volatile organic compounds as they open, and in a small shared ward with limited airflow, that concentration builds quickly. Some patients find it nauseating, especially post surgery. Our get well flowers lean toward low scent stems like chrysanthemums, gerberas, and carnations that hold well in warm rooms and do not fill the space with fragrance.
You want to send something nice but the options feel overwhelming. When I was taking orders from the Pottsville office, the most common opening line was "I have no idea what I'm doing." People would apologise for not knowing flower names. I would ask two questions: who is it for, and what is the feeling you want them to have when it arrives? Those two answers told me more than any flower preference ever could. Our Florist's Choice from $71.95 works the same way. Your florist picks the freshest stems available that day and builds something with proper colour balance and proportions matched to the vase. You can also browse flowers under $60 if budget is the priority.
Phone: Call 1300 360 469 Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm, Saturday 7am to 12pm. You can also order anytime at lilysflorist.com.au or email [email protected] if you need to change something after ordering. Live chat is available during business hours too.
Same day cutoff: 2pm weekdays, 10am Saturdays. The cutoff exists because your florist needs time to source stems, condition them, build your order, and plan a delivery route. An order placed at 1:55pm still gets made properly. An order placed at 3pm cannot, because the florist has already loaded the van.
No Sunday delivery. Flower markets close Saturday afternoon. A florist delivering on Sunday would be working with stock that is already two or three days old. We would rather skip a day than send flowers that look tired before the week starts.
Delivery fee: $16.95. We subsidise this. The actual cost of a same day hand delivery by a real person in a real vehicle is often higher. Ourimbah has properties spread between the M1 corridor and the bushland roads west of the campus. A delivery run that starts near the highway might end on a dirt road backing onto Ourimbah Creek. That range of terrain adds time and fuel that $16.95 does not fully cover.
Ordering flowers for someone in another part of the country can feel like a coin flip. You pick something online, type in an address, and wait. This came through from a customer who sent to the Central Coast:
"Communication was amazing and even with short notice they were amazing in sorting out a quick birthday bouquet for someone in a small town on the central coast of nsw. Amazing!"
Short notice, small town, Central Coast. Notice what the reviewer leads with: communication, not flowers. That is a pattern we see across thousands of reviews. When someone orders for a place they cannot physically go, the anxiety is about control. Will it actually get there? Will it look decent? Will they know I sent it? Answering those questions throughout the process matters as much as the flowers themselves. A partner florist handles the quality. We handle making sure you are never left wondering what happened to your order.
Once you place your order, you will receive a confirmation email straight away. Behind the scenes, we route it to a partner florist in or close to Ourimbah. They will have sourced stems from the markets that morning. Your arrangement gets built, delivered locally, and you receive a notification when it is on its way. If you need to change the card message or delivery time after ordering, email [email protected] as early as possible and we will pass it to the florist before they start.
If something goes wrong, and occasionally it does, contact us within 24 hours with photos of the front and back of the arrangement and we will sort it out. We mean it. Email [email protected], call 1300 360 469, or use the live chat. We respond during business hours and we take complaints seriously because a bad delivery reflects on the whole network.
Our partner florists cover the broader Central Coast area, so these suburbs are on the same delivery run:
