Down on the Logan River flats the summer air is warm and heavy, and on a still night it barely moves. Past about ninety percent humidity, with warmth in it, grey mould wakes up. Florists call it botrytis. Seal a bunch tight in cellophane and you have handed it the trapped damp it wants: brown flecks on a rose's outer petals by morning.
So the wrap stays loose, the air moves through, and roses do beautifully. Spot a fleck? Pull that outer petal off. The bloom underneath is fine. I learnt it summer by summer in North Carolina, where the air hangs just like this.

Name the Church or Graveside in the Funeral Notes
You've read the service details three times and it still hasn't sunk in. Name the place in the notes, whether that's St Peter's Lutheran Church on Alberton Road, the funeral director or the graveside; funeral flowers are timed to the service, and flowers for the family home often mean more a week on. They're a small thing next to a whole life, and they're still what people remember. "With love, thinking of you all" is plenty.
