We deliver flowers to Bramston Beach, and an order placed before 2pm on a weekday can be there this afternoon. After that, just pick the day at checkout. Sending to a van at Bramston Beach Campground? Add the site number and a mobile to the notes. Lily's Florist has sent flowers into the Cairns region since 2009. Pick from our same-day flowers below and you are done in a few taps, or call us and have a yarn with one of our friendly, Australian-based team.
Which Flowers Last Longest in a Bramston Beach House
What finishes soft petals in a beach house is the sea breeze, and the heat only speeds it along. Salt settles on the petals and draws the moisture out, so thin petals go papery at the edges inside a couple of days. It took me a summer at the boutique in Kingscliff, a street back from the surf, to work out the easterly was doing it.
Waxy stems shrug it off. Orchids and waxflower let the salt slide away, and in my experience a cymbidium orchid still gives eight days or more in a warm room. Roses do beautifully too, indoors and out of the draught. Put the vase where the breeze can't reach it.
Flowers go to Bramston Beach for the same reasons they go anywhere: a birthday or a celebration you cannot be there for, a family saying goodbye, someone stuck behind a flooded road. Here is how each one lands in a small beach village.
It is their birthday or their anniversary, and you know the house or the van, maybe the colour of the awning, and not much else. I learned what that costs at Kingscliff Beach Holiday Park, along Marine Parade from our shop, in 2007: one birthday bunch, no site number, four annexes knocked on, and two of the wrong neighbours followed me to watch her open it. Put the site number or street number and a mobile in the notes.
Nobody packs a vase for a week at the beach. A box arrangement carries its own water in the foam and sits happily on a fold-down table. Top the foam up every couple of days and it goes the distance. Look for a box in the photos when you browse our best-selling birthday flowers.
The funeral notice names a service in Babinda or up in Cairns, and the family comes home to Bramston Beach afterwards. Service flowers go through the funeral director; sympathy flowers for the home go to the house, and a few days after the service is often kinder. Siobhan and I carried flowers into Tweed homes from 2006 to 2009, and the ones that came a few days after the funeral found people with time to read the card. "So sorry. Thinking of you all."
Lilies suit that house, and in tropical warmth the buds open fast, so the display moves along quicker than it would down south. Pinch the anthers off as each flower opens: no rust stain on a white shirt, and in my experience sympathy lilies last longer for it.
You have been watching the rain radar, and someone is sitting it out at the beach. The road in crosses the Russell River, and when the river is up nothing gets through, flowers included. If it is already under, date the thinking of you flowers for the day after the water drops. If it goes under after you order, in our experience the order is held and we ring you. Flowers can't do a thing about the rain, and they still tell her you were watching the weather from a long way off. "Thinking of you. Stay dry."
Anna's tip: on a long, warm run, the resin in a waxflower stem holds the tiny flowers on. Gypsophila is lovely on a short, cool trip, where its florets stay put.
Half our orders don't fit a heading, and nobody needs a reason to send flowers to the beach. Anna has a view on this one.
Go for mixed flowers built around chrysanthemums. In my experience they give about ten to fourteen days even in a 28 degree room, the fruit bowl doesn't bother them, and they come in nearly every colour. That is the bunch I would send.

Holiday people are hard to pin down, that's just how it is, they're down the beach or fishing off the boat ramp at Joyce Creek, so don't worry if you hear nothing until tonight. In my years on the phones the holiday orders that went wrong were nearly always the ones where they'd already packed up and gone home. A quick text to check their dates first saves everyone a bit of bother.
That is the whole process, and it has not changed since 2009.
