Carnegie Flower Delivery, Same Day to Home or Aged Care

Carnegie can have flowers today on orders placed before 2pm on a weekday or 10am on a Saturday; later orders go on the checkout date. Giovanni sent flowers here and called ordering "straightforward and hassle-free" (review below). Jewish Care's home on Wahgoo Road has eight separate houses, so give the house name with the resident's full name. Our 2 Lily Stems In Glass Vase below come in their own glass. Buy online, or call us and we'll ask the right questions.

Anna, on why an easy order helps the florist too

An order that was easy to place is easy to read at the bench, and that matters more than it sounds. The florist sees the stems, the size and the card message in one place, so nothing has to be guessed and the card goes in word for word. That is half of getting a red bunch right.

Red Flowers, Like This Order

Behind apartment glass, the colour goes before the flower does

Anna, qualified florist | on sunlight and what it does to red

A lot of Carnegie flowers go into apartments, and sunlight through a big window is hard on colour. The reds and purples in a petal come from pigments that sunlight breaks down, so a deep red bunch on a bright sill pinks out within days, while the same bunch on a table across the room keeps its colour for the week.

So put the vase where the room is bright but the sun never lands on it: the dining table, a bench away from the window. Change the water every couple of days, too, because a room behind glass warms through the afternoon and warm water breeds bacteria faster. I learned that one in a sunny shop window at Salt in Kingscliff: by the second summer, the reds lived inside.

Apartment, Care House or Classroom in Carnegie

Where in Carnegie is it going?

Tap the address type and copy the line into the notes.

Plenty of Carnegie flats sit along the elevated rail line and Koornang Road. The building, the unit, the name on the intercom and a mobile.

The home at 1 Wahgoo Road has 120 residents across eight houses on two levels. Full name, and the house if you know it, so it reaches the right door.

Carnegie Primary on Truganini Road, open since 1888. The teacher's full name and class, for the office.

Caulfield Hospital on Kooyong Road is mostly rehabilitation and aged care, so stays can run to weeks. The ward and full name.

Address sorted? Choose an arrangement

Close to four in ten Carnegie homes were flats or apartments at the 2021 census, so the intercom name often matters more than the street number.

Jewish Care, Koornang Road Flats and a Family at Home

Carnegie is a mixed suburb: at the 2021 census fewer than six in ten residents spoke only English at home, and almost one in ten was born in India. Our birthday flowers for a friend are an easy first pick.

A Birthday at Jewish Care on Wahgoo Road

Your grandmother lives at Jewish Care's home on Wahgoo Road, and her birthday is this week. The home is eight houses under one roof, so the house name matters as much as hers.

Her full name and the house go in the notes; in our experience reception takes the flowers and the staff carry them through. A birthday is a fine time for flowers. After a death, most Jewish families would sooner have a fruit basket or a note than flowers. Our 90th birthday flowers suit.

Anna's pick: roses and lisianthus in their own vase, with nothing heavily scented for a shared lounge.

Moving Day in a Flat Off Koornang Road

Your friend has just moved into a flat near the station on Koornang Road, and you want something on the bench before the boxes are unpacked.

The building, unit, intercom name and her mobile go in the notes. If she will be at work, say whether a neighbour can take them, or send them to the office instead. Our celebration flowers and purple flowers both suit a small flat.

Anna, on a flat full of boxes

In a flat full of boxes, nobody has unpacked a vase. Something already standing in water gets set down on the bench and keeps drinking while the hand-tied bunches wait.

Sympathy Flowers for a Family in a Flat

Someone has died, and the family is at home in a flat with relatives coming and going all week. Anything big ends up on the floor.

For the service at Tobin Brothers on High Street in Malvern, give the service time and the family name. For the flat, send in the days after, compact and low, with the intercom name and a mobile. Our sympathy flowers for the home and white sympathy flowers both work. “Thinking of you all. Here if you need anything.”

White and cream in a low bowl sit on a coffee table without crowding the room, and they look right through a week of visitors.

No Reason Needed This Time

A colleague's promotion, a neighbour who watered the plants, a friend who needs a lift. No category needed.

Anna's pick: our lilies. The buds open one after another through the week, so the vase looks a little different every morning. Pinch off the orange anthers as each one opens.

Reception at Jewish Care and the hospital, the school office, and at a flat whoever buzzes the florist in. Before 2pm on a weekday, it goes out that afternoon.

Thinking of You Flowers

Once the Order Is In

One of our partner florists near Carnegie takes the order that day and makes it up from the morning's stock. If a stem in the photo is not in, the florist matches the colour and keeps the size.

If something is not right, send a photo the same day and we sort it. Ring 1300 360 469 from 7am to 6pm weekdays or from 10am Saturdays; for changes, email [email protected].

Siobhan, on sending to a place you have never seen

Plenty of the apartment orders I took in my Kingscliff years came from people who had never been inside the building themselves (a grandchild's first flat, a friend who had just moved in). That is fine. What helps is the name on the intercom, which is not always the name on the order. Now and then a building has two entrances on two different streets, and the florist walks round the block twice. A mobile in the notes saves the second lap.

You may not have seen the flat yet. The flowers will get there before you do, and that is a nice way to arrive.

Carnegie I know from the orders that go into it, not from a flat by the station. Siobhan and I bought a Kingscliff flower shop in 2006 and launched the network in 2009; it now takes in more than eight hundred partner florists, including one near Carnegie.
