Cobram Flower Delivery

Cobram has 131 aged care beds for 6,148 people, so plenty of what we send here is taken at a front desk. The rest goes to houses, orchard frontages at Cobram East and the hospital campus. Order by 2pm on a weekday and it lands that afternoon; after 2pm the next working day, Saturday by 10am, no Sunday run. A florist in or close to Cobram builds it that morning, so nothing arrives in a box that has been on a truck since Tuesday. Not sure what suits a shared room or a farm gate? Ring 1300 360 469.

The 2pm cutoff

2pm weekdays, 10am Saturday, no Sunday. Set by build time and drive time.

Where it lands

A house in town, an orchard block, the hospital campus off O'Dwyer Street, a care desk.

Who makes it

No shop of ours here, ever. One of 800+ partner florists in the network builds it. The trade is below.

Who Actually Builds It, and Where They Are

We have never had a shop in Cobram and I will not pretend otherwise. Your order goes to a partner florist in or near the town who builds it the morning it goes out. The trade is that one shop shutting for a family funeral before Mother's Day stops being your problem. It goes out as a paid job with a deadline on it. One of us rings when a stem is short.

A bunch in paper is a job for whoever is on shift.

Anna, qualified florist | fifteen years on the bench, hired in 2010 to sign up country florists

People assume the flower chain runs out past Shepparton. It does not. Victoria grows a third to two fifths of the country's cut flowers. What runs short in a town this size is bench hours on a weekend.

Send a hand-tied bunch in paper to a care home and somebody on shift has to find a container and recut every stem before it holds water. In my experience that does not happen at eleven, and by then the cut ends have sealed. Two centimetres off at forty five degrees brings them back. A box turns up already holding water, so I steer these orders into one.

Where It Is Going in Cobram Changes What to Send

Six addresses take almost everything we send to Cobram, and each one changes the format before it changes the colour.

Pick the one that matches yours.

A house on the town grid

Nine in ten Cobram homes are separate houses and a third of them hold one person living alone, so an unanswered door is a porch in full sun. The town gets 27.5 days a year at or above 35 degrees.

Notes
A mobile number, and ask for a morning run from November to March.
Send
Chrysanthemum or carnation. Both hold in dry heat.
Skip
A kitchen bench with fruit on it. Cobram runs cherries from November, and ripening fruit finishes a carnation in about three days.
See bunches for a Cobram front door

Cobram East, out toward the river

Every dwelling out this way is a separate house on a block, averaging 3.7 bedrooms and 2.7 vehicles. People are in a shed or on the rows, and the front door is decorative.

Notes
A mobile number gets a driver there. A gate description usually does not.
Send
Anything sturdy. Out here the driveway is the variable and the stems are the easy part.
Skip
Authority to leave at a door nobody uses.
Let the florist build from this week's stock

Irvin House, and Cobram Regional Care on Campbell Road

Irvin House holds 30 beds at 1 O'Dwyer Avenue on the hospital campus. Cobram Regional Care runs 101 more across three houses on Campbell Road. Both take flowers at a front desk.

Notes
The resident's full name as the desk has it, plus the wing or house.
Send
A box arrangement or a vase. It turns up already holding its own water.
Skip
Hand-tied in paper. Somebody on shift then has to find a container and recut every stem.
See arrangements that arrive holding water

A shared room, or memory support

Eight of Irvin House's rooms are shared, and one of the Campbell Road houses is memory support. In a shared room the gift sits beside somebody else's medication. In memory support, residents may taste a flower or drink the vase water.

Notes
Say it is a shared room, or a memory support room. It changes what gets built.
Send
Small, front-facing, low scent, in a container a knock will not tip.
Skip
Into memory support, no bulb plants and nothing toxic. That rules out lilies of any kind.
See daisies and gerberas

Two entrances, and a delivery wants one of them

Urgent care fronts Broadway Street. Main reception and imaging are off O'Dwyer Street, the same side of the campus as Irvin House. O'Dwyer is the side a delivery wants.

Notes
Full patient name and the ward. The switchboard will tell you the ward.
Send
Compact and unscented. Pollen-free Asiatic lilies are the ward-safe lily.
Skip
Ordering while somebody is still in urgent care. Wait until they are on a ward.
See flowers built for a ward

No crematorium in this shire, so a Cobram burial ends at the cemetery

Cobram Cemetery is on Cemetery Road out at Cobram East, ten minutes from the town grid. One funeral director covers eight towns and a single Catholic priest rosters Cobram and Katamatite on the same weekend, so in our experience service times move.

Notes
The name of the person who died and the service time. Ring the family and ask before you pick a day.
Send
White at a service. At a celebration of life, ask what the person actually liked.
Skip
Red at any funeral, which reads as celebration in several traditions.
See wreaths and sheaths for a service

You will never see the room this lands in. Pick the line that matches it and the part you cannot control gets a lot smaller.

Bed counts and addresses are published figures checked August 2026. Housing and heat are the 2021 Census and the Bureau of Meteorology at Yarrawonga. The format advice is Anna's, from the bench.

Fresh Flowers for the Orders Cobram Sends Most

Two situations cover most of what we send to Cobram. Most sits under sixty dollars.

Thinking of You, When the Address Is a Care Home

It has been since Easter and you are not getting up there this month. A residence takes a thinking-of-you bunch at the front desk. Our florists say a first name at the Campbell Road home, a hundred and one beds, is how flowers sit until Thursday. Full name and wing in the notes and they are on the table by afternoon tea, standing in for the visit. On the card, thinking of you and no reply needed. If the memory has gone, send them anyway.

A box or a vase. Care rosters do not run to topping up water mid-week.

What to Send for a Funeral in Cobram, and Where

The family is dealing with enough without a delivery turning up in the wrong place. The service, the family home, or Cemetery Road: the service is usually yours, and in our experience times here move, so ring and ask first. White sympathy flowers go under the name of the person who died. Flowers will not touch what has happened. They mark that you tried to, from wherever you are standing. Put a name and a relationship on the card and stop there, because it gets kept longer than the flowers do.

Chrysanthemums are two different flowers in this town. In Italian tradition they read as the flower of the dead, right at the service and wrong at that family's door on any other day.

Still not sure?

Some orders have no name on them. A promotion, an apology, a week that went badly. Say where it is going and let the florist work from that week's stock, so the fourth bunch into a room does not look like the third.

Ask for lisianthus in a box, three stem types in it. It reads as the expensive stem, holds without scent, and the three fade at different rates, so day five looks nothing like day one. Asiatic lilies do the same for less, though not into memory support, where the rule is no bulbs at all.

Cobram Delivery Questions, Answered Straight

Can flowers get to somebody on the ward here?

Yes. Get-well flowers go to main reception on the O'Dwyer Street side, and from what our florists have seen they wait at the desk until a nurse walks them down. Full name and ward in the notes.

And a new baby?

Almost never to Cobram. No birthing service runs here or at Yarrawonga, so the baby is at Goulburn Valley Health in Shepparton, fifty minutes south. Confirm the hospital first.

Same Day Flower Delivery to Cobram, and What Happens Next

Cutoffs

2pm weekdays, 10am Saturday, no Sunday run. The markets shut Saturday afternoon, so a Sunday delivery would be Friday stock.

Where Delivery reaches

All of 3644, out through Cobram East and Koonoomoo. The cheese plant and the abattoir take deliveries at a gatehouse, so a bunch landing at two for a crew that knocked off at two waits until tomorrow. Put the department on it.

Hearing back

The photo comes when the recipient stops what they are doing, which in a residence is after the tea round. A quiet day is normal. If it looks wrong, send us your own photo inside 24 hours.

The birthdays this town sends

Cobram's largest five-year age band is 70 to 74, so eightieths and ninetieths are the birthdays this postcode takes most. Order before 2pm and it lands this afternoon.

After You Order

You get an order number the moment you pay, and the job goes out within the hour. Ring 1300 360 469, 7am to 6pm weekdays and 10am Saturday.

Andrew, who took these calls for seven years

Between 2006 and 2013 I answered that phone myself, and the calls about a residence came in one shape. The sender rang because the resident had not. The flowers had sat at a counter for two days under a first name nobody recognised. We were faxing orders off Word documents back then, yes I said fax. So we started asking for the wing. Get it right and they are on the table by three, which is what the money is for.

The person who can see the flowers is not the person who paid for them, which is a daft way to run a complaints process, so tell them to ring us. And the flowers were in the room regardless, whether anybody has got round to telling you or not.

I have never been to Cobram. In 2009 our list ran to Bendigo, Geelong, Mildura and Albury, so we hit the Murray at both ends and left everything between to sort itself out. Moira Shire waited years.

Andrew and I bought a flower shop in Kingscliff in 2006 with no floristry between us. The longer story is on the about Lily's Florist page.
