Flowers Delivered to Ferryden Park

Order before 2pm on a weekday and flowers reach a Ferryden Park address that afternoon, built that morning by a florist close by rather than freighted in overnight. Lily's Florist has been sending orders into these streets since 2013, through the renewal that re-cut half the allotments, so a unit or rear entrance written into the notes gets used. Pick from our range of same-day flowers below, or ring us and one of our friendly, helpful, Australian-based team will do it with you.

A real customer review

"The website was good and easy to use. The flowers were delivered not long after. My purchase was beautiful. My friend loved her flowers they were the florists pick."

Siobhan and Andrew replied

Thank you Brenda. Sympathy flowers that your friend actually loved are doing the hardest thing flowers are ever asked to do. When someone is going through a hard time, a beautiful arrangement is one small lovely thing to rest their eyes on when everything else feels heavy, and your friend responding the way she did means it gave her exactly that.

Trusting the florist's pick for something like this takes a bit of faith, since you are handing over the look of it at a tender moment, but a florist who handles these often knows how to make them gentle and right. Thank you for thinking of her, and for sending it through us to Ferryden Park.

It is the dry air out here, not the temperature, that takes the edges off a petal

Anna, qualified florist | fifteen years on the bench, and a season spent working out why

A January afternoon on this plain sits at around forty-two percent humidity. At that level the air pulls water out of a petal faster than the stem can push it back up, and the petal dries from the edge inward until it goes papery before anything has properly wilted. Six kilometres inland the gulf breeze arrives late, so the worst of the afternoon has already happened by the time any relief gets here. It took me a season to connect the two. The stems that hold are the ones with a waxy surface losing water slowly: a carnation, a chrysanthemum. Anything on the road longer than twenty minutes wants a wet pack rather than damp tissue.

The reverse is worth knowing. A lounge room here from June to August sits at fifteen or sixteen degrees, and the same rose that gives you a week in February holds a fortnight in July. What catches people out in winter is a reception desk: air conditioning holds a room near thirty percent humidity all year, so keep the vase off the vent and give it more water depth than it looks like it needs.

Sympathy, Birthdays and the Room Down the Hall

Most orders into 5010 come from somewhere else, and a fair share land at a reception desk in the Regency Park estate rather than at a house, which makes a workplace thank you a real category here and not a template one.

A Wake at the House, or a Service in a Chapel

Someone has died and you have a suburb, a name, and no idea whether the flowers go to a house or a chapel. Ask that first. Condolences go to the family home; service flowers go to the funeral director with the date on them. The wake often runs at the house for several days here, so early lands right. Flowers are a small thing against what has happened, and they are still what you send.

White carries almost every tradition on these streets. Red carries none. Name the venue in the notes: at Cheltenham a sheaf lies flat on a lawn grave where a tall vase tips.

If the House Is Empty Until Six, Say So

It is her birthday today, you are at work, and the address sits empty until the evening. I heard that one on the phone for years before 2013 and the fix never changed: a mobile number in the notes, a shaded spot named, or a workplace nominated instead. Thirty seconds, and it is the difference between a bunch handed over and a bunch on a step.

Anna's call: an unshaded porch in February finishes a soft-petalled bunch in half an hour. Carnations and chrysanthemums do not mind the wait. For flowers for mum or a fortieth, that is what I would build around.

Reception Signs for It, Then Walks It In

Linsell Lodge on Cardigan Street and RSL Care Morlancourt on Trafford Street are both a kilometre north, over the boundary in Angle Park. An order addressed to Ferryden Park with only a first name on it goes nowhere. Use the resident's full registered name and the wing, and get it to reception before mid-afternoon.

Anna, on the room it has to live in

Ask for a box, not a vase, and keep the scent low; in a shared room the next bed did not ask for it. For a ninetieth in a Greek or Italian household, keep white out of it: to those families it reads as a funeral tribute, chrysanthemums above all.

Tell Us Who It Is For and Let the Florist Decide

Plenty of what comes through does not fit a heading. A new arrival at The Queen Elizabeth, a neighbour who has had a rough few months, a thank you that is a year overdue. Anna has a view on this.

Say who it is for and what room it is going into, and let the florist build to that instead of matching a photograph. For a new baby: small, unscented, nothing that sheds. Nobody two days into a newborn is changing vase water.

Start somewhere

Order before 2pm today and it is at their door this afternoon.

Let the florist choose

There Is No Flower Shop in Ferryden Park

Cutoffs

2pm on a weekday, because the florist needs the morning to condition the stems and build the order.
10am on Saturday, because the runs finish at midday.
No Sunday delivery, except Mother's Day.

What the notes need

The unit or rear-entrance number in full, not just the street number. A mobile that will answer. A shaded spot, named, if nobody is home. For a facility, the resident's full registered name and the wing.

Who receives it

At a house it goes to a person, or to the spot you named. Anywhere with a front desk, reception signs for it and logs it, and the recipient is called. Order this morning and it goes out on today's run.

Nobody Rings to Say They Arrived

You place the order, you get a confirmation, and then nothing. Ring 1300 360 469 or email [email protected] and one of our team will look it up. If the person you sent them to does not call, that is normal. Someone grieving, or unwell, or eighty-seven and tired does not reach for the phone.

From Andrew, on the funeral calls we used to take ourselves

Siobhan and I took the phone orders ourselves from 2006 to 2013, and the funeral ones ran to a pattern. Someone would ring at ten for a service at eleven and nobody had asked whether the flowers went to the chapel or the house. So we started asking for the venue and the time before anything else. The other one was addresses that looked right and were not, a street number where the order was for the unit behind it. The notes field asks for that now.

The flowers last a fortnight. The card gets kept.

I have never stood on Nairn Street. What I have is orders into this postcode going back to 2013, through the years the renewal was still re-cutting allotments, and the florists who have covered it the whole time.

Andrew and I bought a flower and gift shop on Marine Parade at Kingscliff in 2006 and worked the rest out from there. That part is on the page about Lily's Florist.
