Same Day Delivery - Kaleen Wide
Need flowers delivered to Kaleen today? Order before 2pm weekdays or 10am Saturdays and we'll have them there. $16.95 delivery. Call us on 1300 360 469 if you'd rather chat with a real person. We're a Mum and Dad business from Northern NSW who've been sending flowers to Kaleen and greater Belconnen since 2009, back when we first partnered with a florist over at Bailey Place who agreed to take a chance on two strangers from Kingscliff asking if she'd help with their flower orders. Sixteen years later, that gamble turned into an 800 plus partner florist network spanning every corner of Australia. But we'll get to that.
Andrew's Mum, Ann, has family scattered through Canberra. Growing up in Sydney, he'd visit a few times a year. The drive down, the cold that hits you the moment you step out of the car, the way Canberra suburbs feel different to Sydney ones. Quieter streets. Established trees. That distinct ACT architecture from the 70s and 80s.
In 2019 we did a family trip down to Perisher. Stopped in Canberra for the night. Ivy was 10 and got sick basically the moment we arrived. We spent the whole time in an Airbnb wrapped in blankets instead of doing the Parliament House tour we'd planned. Could see it from the window though. The irony of being stuck in a city we deliver to daily but had never properly explored as a family.
This is 2008. We had a florist and gift shop in Kingscliff, far northern NSW, that we'd bought in 2006. The previous owner had just paid for a Yellow Pages ad. Yeah, the book. We kept getting calls for flowers to places we'd never heard of. Canberra was one of them. A lot of them, actually.
For months we said sorry, we can't help. Then one day, maybe $20 in the till, we thought why not try calling a florist in Canberra and seeing if they'd make the flowers for us?
The first one we rang was over at Bailey Place. I remember being nervous. Andrew rehearsed the pitch in the car beforehand. "You want to send us orders from where?" she asked. "Northern NSW," we said. Long pause. "Why not? Let's give it a go."
That one yes became Canberra. Canberra became part of a network that now covers the whole country. Sixteen years on, we still deliver to Kaleen through partner florists who know the suburb, know the hospital, know where Dorabella Circuit actually is without needing Google Maps.

* Andrew and I with Asha and Ivy. Most business decisions get made at the dinner table eating Andrew's famous tantanmen ramen, or on the drive to netball. Sometimes both.
Canberra winters are brutal on flowers. Anna, who trained as a florist and spent 15 years on the bench before joining us as bookkeeper, has strong opinions about cold weather deliveries.
"Moving tropical blooms from a heated van into sub-five-degree air is a recipe for disaster," she explains. "Ice crystals form in the cell walls. The petals blacken almost immediately. Anthuriums, Phalaenopsis orchids, anything tropical. We double-wrap with tissue and thick kraft paper for Canberra deliveries from late autumn through to spring. The extra insulation prevents thermal shock."
It takes an extra minute. That minute adds days to the vase life.
For Kaleen specifically, Anna recommends hardy varieties that handle temperature swings. Natives do well. Roses with tighter buds that haven't fully opened. Chrysanthemums. "Avoid anything soft-petalled if it's going to sit outside even briefly," she says. "Canberra frost doesn't care how pretty your hydrangeas looked in the shop."
If you're ordering for someone in Kaleen and you're not sure what will survive the journey and the weather, call us. Anna's not on the phones anymore but she trained the team. They know what works for Canberra conditions.

* Our shop at 1/98 Marine Parade, Kingscliff. This is where it started in 2006. Zero florist experience, one pregnant Siobhan, and a Yellow Pages ad that changed everything.
Kaleen is close to Calvary Hospital. We deliver there often. Sympathy flowers, get well flowers, new baby flowers.
Anna has thoughts on sympathy arrangements too. "The peach and cream palettes provide more warmth than pure white," she says. "Pure white can feel clinical, almost cold. Grieving families respond better to softer tones. A hint of blush, some apricot, it adds comfort without being inappropriately cheerful."
We've been delivering sympathy arrangements for 16 years now. The card messages are the hardest part. People agonise over what to write. Our team reads every one as they transcribe it onto the card. Not because we have to but because a machine can't feel the weight of those words. A person can.
If you need sympathy flowers to Kaleen or to Calvary Hospital, browse our sympathy flowers collection or call us and we'll help you choose something appropriate.

* How it works. You order with us, we route it to a Canberra partner florist, they make your flowers fresh that morning and deliver to Kaleen. No warehouses. No Australia Post overnight parcels.
We've been partnered with Feefo since 2013. Over 23,000 verified reviews. We can't edit them, can't delete them, can't get our mates to write fake ones. Feefo only collects reviews from customers who've actually placed an order.
One customer wrote about a Canberra delivery: "The native floral arrangement you delivered to my daughter in Canberra was stunning and has lasted so long. You delivered within the time frame that I asked."
Anna reads reviews like this with a professional eye. "Native arrangements lasting a long time tells me the florist selected good specimens at the market," she says. "Natives have what we call senescence cycles. Certain pods and seed heads are chosen specifically for structural integrity post-bloom. They offer a second life as dried elements long after softer fillers fade. When someone says an arrangement 'lasted so long', that's intentional selection, not luck."
Another customer simply wrote: "I sent flowers to my friend in Canberra who said they were soft and very pretty."
That's what we aim for. Soft. Pretty. Delivered when we said they would be.

* Our Feefo Trusted Service Award for 2024 and 2025. Over 23,000 verified reviews since 2013. We cannot edit or delete them, which is exactly how it should be.
Order online or call 1300 360 469. We're available Monday to Friday 7am to 6pm, Saturdays 7am to 12:30pm. Real Australians answer the phones from our office in Armidale NSW. No offshore call centres.
Andrew's mum still lives in Canberra. We still visit when we can. The kids are older now. Asha graduated Year 12, turns 19 in May. Ivy is 15 in February. Most of our business decisions still get made at the dinner table. Kaleen has been part of our delivery network since 2009, through partner florists who actually know the suburb. That's how we've always done it.
Siobhan and Andrew own and operate Lily's Florist from their base in Kingscliff, Northern NSW. They bought a struggling florist shop there in 2006 against their accountant's advice, with zero florist experience and a baby on the way. A Yellow Pages ad left behind by the previous owner led to so many interstate flower requests that they pivoted, creating a partner network model to help local florists across Australia. The BPA-free baby bottle craze accidentally funded their early flower expansion when they spotted the trend before Australian supermarkets did.
Today, Lily's Florist works with over 800 partner florists nationwide. Andrew grew up in Strathfield and Summer Hill, Sydney, with family connections to Canberra through his Mum's side. Siobhan's parents lived in Taree, which meant the Central Coast became their family meeting point for years. They have two daughters, Asha (almost 19) and Ivy (15), who get dragged into business conversations whether they want to or not.
Anna, their bookkeeper, trained as a florist and spent 15 years on the bench before moving to their back office. She still checks arrangements and provides the floristry expertise quoted throughout this page. Her knowledge of stem selection, seasonal factors, and climate-specific delivery challenges adds depth that competitors simply cannot replicate.
Lily's Florist received Feefo Trusted Service Awards in 2024 and 2025, based on over 23,000 verified customer reviews since 2013.
