Flower Delivery Kidaman Creek Today, Home, Ward or Funeral

A place this small, and part of you is expecting a no.

In 2007 a woman rang our shop on Marine Parade in Kingscliff and asked, very carefully, if we could get birthday flowers to her mum at Nobbys Creek, out past Murwillumbah. I'd never heard of it, so I said what I said to most things that year: hang on, I'll just check with my wife. Siobhan said yes before I'd finished. I drove them out that afternoon. Her mum's first words were that her daughter had said we mightn't come out that far. I didn't mention the phone call.

Kidaman Creek is smaller again, 125 people at the 2021 census, and it's still yes, today: any of our birthday flowers, the best-sellers included.

If they're working outside until dark, an arrangement suits better than a wrapped bunch: its foam is soaked, so the stems keep drinking while they wait on the verandah.

Someone in Kidaman Creek is in hospital, and all you've been told is the town.

The likely two are Maleny Soldiers Memorial on Bean Street and Nambour General on Hospital Road, so put which one, the ward and their full name in the notes. I carried plenty of flowers into Tweed Hospital in our shop years, and in our experience reception takes hospital flowers in and staff carry them up, so the ward name is what finds the bed. You have a funeral notice and a town you may never have been to.

Put the funeral director's name and the start time in the notes, and our funeral flowers go to the director in time for the service, wherever it's held. For a morning service, order the day before. Sympathy flowers to the house can follow a few days later, once the visitors thin out. It's a small thing against what they've lost, and they still notice who sent one. Something like: With love, and so sorry.

The White Lily & Rose Sheath is flat-backed, made to lie on the casket, with wet tissue at the base where an arrangement would have foam. That's plenty for a service of a few hours, and afterwards the family can untie it and put the stems in a vase at home.

Some orders don't fit a card above: a thank-you to the neighbour who checked the troughs, a welcome for new people down the road, a 60th or a wedding at the hall. That hall is the Obi Obi Hall, 856 Obi Obi Road, shared with Obi Obi since Kidaman Creek sold its own hall in 2008. If the invitation just says the hall, write Obi Obi Hall, the start time and a name in the notes.

For a hall I'd pick the Native Arrangement With Chocolates. It's built in soaked foam in its own container, so it sits on a trestle table all night with nobody hunting for a vase, and the protea and pincushion in it don't mind a warm room.
