Same Day Flowers Delivery - Australia Wide!
Manunda flower delivery, same day: order before 2pm on a weekday and your flowers are made fresh in Cairns and delivered today, to a home, a unit or an office. Any later, just pick the day at checkout. We've been delivering birthday, get well and sympathy flowers around Cairns since 2007. For a funeral at the Pease Street chapel, pop the service time in the notes. Choose an Australian Natives Bunch or a White Funeral Wreath from our range of same-day flowers below, or call us and one of our friendly, Australian-based team will have it sorted before you hang up.
Which flowers last longest in a warm Manunda flat?
Warmth is what shortens a vase in Cairns. Every ten degrees roughly doubles how fast a cut flower ages. Chrysanthemums are the ones that shrug off a warm lounge room: in my experience, ten days or more even at twenty-eight degrees. Roses and lilies are just as lovely, and they want a cool corner away from the window and fresh water every second day.
The catch in a flat is that the kitchen and the lounge are often one room. Ripening fruit gives off ethylene, and carnations read it as the signal to finish, curling their petals inwards within a day. The first time I saw it, on a shop counter beside a bunch of bananas, I blamed the grower. Keep the flowers and the fruit bowl apart.
Whatever the occasion, what decides the order in Manunda is where it's going: a unit upstairs, the funeral director on Pease Street, or the house on graduation day. Here's how each one works. For most of them, a good bunch of flowers is the place to start.
Nearly half the homes in Manunda are flats, which can mean a stairwell, a buzzer and a unit number you had to text someone for. Put the unit, the building and a mobile in the notes, or send it to their work. Birthday flowers for Mum go the same way.
Get the cellophane off once it's inside. Wrapped tight in Cairns humidity, the petals sit in their own wet air, and botrytis, which is grey mould, turns up as fuzzy spots on the roses by morning.
You've read the notice twice and still aren't sure if it's the chapel on Pease Street or the grave at Martyn Street. Either way, sympathy flowers for the family go to their house, and on the card, "Sending love to you all" is plenty. Funeral flowers, a wreath or a sheath, go to the funeral director, with the director's name and the service time in the notes.
Andrew learnt why in 2007, carrying a wreath the length of the Catholic section at Tweed Heads Lawn Cemetery on Kirkwood Road until a groundsman pointed him three rows over. (He wasn't lost, he says.)
Anna's call: if it's staying at the grave, the Wreath With White & Purple Tones, because a wreath sits in wet foam and a sheath has no water at all. If the family is taking it home, the White Lily & Rose Sheath goes straight into a vase.
Trinity Bay State High sends its Year 12s off at the end of the year, and TAFE Queensland's Eureka Street students graduate too. It's the proudest day, and for plenty of parents the one that makes the house feel emptier. Send graduation flowers to the house on the day.
If they're coming to the ceremony, keep them out of the car: a wrapped bunch on a back seat in the Cairns sun cooks through the photos. If the 3 Wrapped Gerberas droop, take two centimetres off each stem on an angle and stand them in shallow warm water for an hour.
A thank-you for a neighbour, someone home from hospital, a new job, a rotten month. No heading fits those. Anna has a view on this one.
A Florist's Choice Bunch is built from whatever looks best in the bucket that morning, with no theme to match. Give it a colour they love in the notes and let the florist do the rest. If they're outdoorsy, ask for natives.

Flat: the unit, the building and a mobile. Funeral: the funeral director, the name on the notice and the service time. Cairns council's cemetery policy rules out vases and glass at a grave, so choose a wreath for a graveside.
At a house or flat it's whoever answers, or a neighbour if the notes say so. At work, reception or the desk. Funeral flowers go into the funeral director's hands. The sooner it's in, the more of the day it has.
Your order confirmation comes by email, and then it goes quiet. That's normal. A family planning a funeral, or someone busy turning sixty, hardly ever rings to say the flowers came (I fretted about that for years when I was on our phones).
To check on an order or fix the name on a card, call 1300 360 469, 7am to 6pm weekdays, or email [email protected].
When we took the calls ourselves, up to 2013, the funeral orders that went wrong were nearly always timing: flowers reaching the chapel after the family had left. So the service time goes in the notes and the florist works back from it. If anything isn't right, send us a photo the same day. Cairns was one of the first eight towns in the network, in 2009.
Somewhere in Manunda, a buzzer is about to go.
