Same Day Flowers Delivery - Australia Wide!
Flowers can be at a Moffat Beach house or holiday unit this afternoon on any weekday order placed before 2pm, or 10am on a Saturday. Later than that, just pick the day you want at checkout. Lily's Florist sends every order to a florist close by, who makes it fresh on the day it's delivered. If it's for a service at Caloundra Cemetery on Queen Street, add the time to the notes and the florist works to it. Choose from our hand-picked range below and pay securely online, or call us and one of our friendly, helpful, Australian-based team will have it booked before your coffee goes cold.
Choosing flowers for Moffat Beach that can wait on a warm verandah
At a beach house, flowers don't always go straight into a vase. Someone's at work or out in the surf, and the bunch sits in its wrapping for an hour or two. A hand-tied bunch leaves the bench with a small water pack at the base, and in the shade that keeps most stems going nicely. The tough ones barely notice the wait: chrysanthemums, carnations, and natives like leucadendron and protea, whose woody stems and leathery leaves hang on to their water. If you're not sure anyone will be home, that's the mix I'd lean toward.
Roses and hydrangeas are lovely too, they just want water sooner. Hydrangeas drink through their petals as well as the stem, so they're the first to droop, and it looks worse than it is. I learnt floristry in North Carolina, where half the houses seem to have one by the porch, and the first trick I was shown was the rescue: recut the stem, split the base a couple of centimetres, and sit the whole head face down in cool water for thirty minutes. It comes back. A droopy hydrangea is only thirsty.
Three orders come to mind first for Moffat Beach: a birthday, a service, and someone on the mend. Each one lands better with a single detail in the notes, and for the birthday or the get well, a bright mixed bunch suits almost any house by the water.
The birthday is today, you're somewhere else, and they're the kind who is in the water by seven if there's a wave. House or unit, the notes want the same two things: their mobile, and a shady spot to leave the birthday flowers if nobody answers. If it's a big one, there's a 50th birthday range too.
I learnt that one in 2008, standing on the sand below Norries Headland at Cabarita Beach in my shop shoes, holding birthday gerberas for a woman whose husband had pointed past the dunes and said she'd be in soon. She came in about twenty minutes later and dripped all over the card while half the car park watched (I think they thought it was a proposal). Moffat Beach has its own point break off the headland, so a mobile the florist can ring, and somewhere shady to leave them, really do make the difference.
Anna has a view on the wait.
A west-facing front step takes the full afternoon sun, and that's what shortens soft petals. The side of the carport, or behind the outdoor shower screen, keeps a bunch in good shape for hours.
You have the notice, maybe a time, and not a lot else. There are two different orders here: something for the service, or sympathy flowers for the family at home once it's over. Caloundra Cemetery on Queen Street ran out of room for new adult burials in 2024 and still takes ashes, so a service there now generally means ashes being interred, and in our experience those are small, quiet family gatherings more often than big funerals. Put the service time and the funeral director in the notes and the florist works to it. For the service itself, our funeral flowers are the place to start.
Flowers are a small thing to send when someone has died, I know that, and I also know families notice every single one. On the card, "Thinking of you all today, with love" is plenty, or "Remembering them with you."
Anna's call: whites, creams and soft greens, hand-tied into a posy. Pale colours don't compete with anyone's grief, and a posy can be laid flat or held in a hand, which suits a small graveside better than a tall vase that tips on the grass. For the house afterwards, the same colours go in a vase.
Someone came off second best at the point, or it's nothing to do with the surf at all, and you've got a text with half the details. First, home or hospital. Minor injuries often go through the clinic at Caloundra Health Service on West Terrace and are home the same day, so the house is the likelier address for get well flowers. If they're kept in overnight, it's more likely to be Sunshine Coast University Hospital in Birtinya, and then the ward goes in the notes. Our hospital flowers are sized for a bedside.
"Heal up quick. The waves will wait." works for the surfer. "Thinking of you, and hoping you're home soon" works for anyone.
An oriental lily's perfume is gorgeous in a lounge room and a lot for the next bed on a shared ward. Gerberas and chrysanthemums bring all the colour with barely any scent, and a boxed arrangement means nobody has to go hunting for a vase.
Some orders don't fit a heading at all. A thank you to the neighbour who kept an eye on the house, a new job, a "just because" from a long way off, and that's all fine.
With no theme to match, Florist's Choice suits it best. The florist builds it from whatever came in strongest that morning, and stems chosen on their own merits usually have more life in them than stems picked to match a photo.

Order before 2pm on a weekday and it's at Moffat Beach this afternoon.
Our Best-Selling Birthday Flowers2pm on weekdays, so the florist has time to make it and still get it out the same afternoon.
10am on Saturdays, because the Saturday run finishes early.
No Sunday delivery, except Mother's Day.
For a later date, order any time and pick the day at checkout.
Their mobile, first. For a unit around the headland, the unit number and the building name. For a house, a shady spot to leave it if nobody's in. For Queen Street, the service time and the funeral director.
Whoever answers the door. If nobody does, in our experience the florist tries the mobile before leaving it where you've said. On a ward, the flowers tend to go to reception on that level. Get it in before 2pm and it's there this afternoon.
Australian Natives for a Beach House
Once you've paid, a confirmation email comes through, and that's your record of the order. If you haven't heard from whoever it's for by dinner, that's normal (people put flowers in a vase and forget their phone exists), and it nearly always means they arrived.
If something isn't right, ring us on 1300 360 469, 7am to 6pm weekdays, or email [email protected], and one of our team will chase it up for you.
The order lands in our system and gets matched to a florist in or close to Moffat Beach. They make it on the day from that morning's stock. If a stem hasn't come in, they swap it like for like, same colour and same value, and it's noted on the order. If you tell us something looks wrong, we ask the florist for a photo the same day. I built most of this after 2009 from things that went wrong in the shop. It still runs the same way.
Thank you for trusting us with it, whoever it's for.
