Andrew grew up in Sydney and lived in Abbotsford for a while, Walton Crescent, 7 story apartment block with a wharf on the ground floor. His mate Dave used to pick him up in his tinnie, they'd speed up the Parramatta River, often ending up at Putney. Swim, fish, mess around, good old days kind of stuff. This was way before flowers, before we bought Kingscliff Florist in 2007, before any of this business existed. Just two blokes in a boat on the Parramatta River.

How We Get Flowers to Putney

"Cut flowers are still metabolising," she says. "They're breathing, losing water through their petals every minute. Trap them in a sealed metal space and the temperature climbs fast. I've seen petals go translucent within 2 hours. By evening, that's an $80 bunch of wilted stems and someone's anniversary ruined."

In 2006, Andrew and I were both working in Sydney, living in a Drummoyne apartment, expecting a baby. We left for a sea change, bought Kingscliff Florist in 2007 with zero flower experience.
