I am Siobhan. Andrew and I run this business together from the same house we have worked from for years. Andrew grew up around this part of Sydney. His dad Ken used to take him to kung fu classes in Sefton every week, and every second week they would stop at the old Sefton McDonalds afterwards. Cheeseburger, small fries, Coke, chocolate sundae. Every second Sunday, same order. We left Sydney for a small flower shop in Kingscliff back in 2006, and the full story of how two people with no flower experience ended up coordinating 800+ florists is on our About Us page.
Lilies are one of those flowers that people either love or are terrified of. The pollen is what scares them. Orange powder on a white tablecloth, on clothes, on the cat. I get it. Removing the anthers does more than prevent stains though. It extends the life of the flower.
The science is straightforward. Once pollen makes contact with the stigma, the lily receives a chemical signal that pollination has occurred. That signal triggers senescence, which is the flower's way of shutting down and redirecting energy toward seed production. Remove the anthers before the pollen starts to shed and the lily keeps blooming. It stays open, waiting. You can add three or four extra days of vase life with a ten second job.
I remember a caller from somewhere near Parramatta who rang us years ago in the Pottsville office. She wanted to send lilies to her mum for her birthday but was worried about the pollen staining the carpet. I explained the anther trick and she went quiet for a second. Then she said, "So you're telling me I can have lilies AND keep my security deposit?" That became my go to explanation. Pinch the anthers off with a tissue as soon as the flower opens. Do not wait until the pollen starts to powder because by then it is already loose. Use gloves or tissue, not bare fingers. The stain from lily pollen is stubborn and heat sets it permanently. For anyone in Sefton ordering lilies, especially if they are going to someone near Chester Hill Road or around the station where a lot of our Sefton deliveries end up, pass that tip along to whoever receives them. It costs nothing and turns a five day flower into a nine day flower.
When you order flowers to Sefton through us, your arrangement is made that morning. A partner florist in or close to the area sources stems from Flemington Markets, conditions them properly, builds your arrangement by hand, and delivers it personally. The flowers that arrive at a Sefton doorstep are hours old. That freshness is the reason a well made bunch can last well over a week when the recipient looks after it.

* How it works. You order, we connect with a partner florist covering Sefton, they deliver fresh. No post. No boxes.
Sefton is a quiet, family suburb and most of the orders we see for this part of western Sydney reflect that. Birthdays, get well wishes, a gesture to let someone know you are thinking of them. If you already know the occasion, the cards below will point you in the right direction. If you are unsure, have a look at our flower bunches and let the florist do the thinking.
Bankstown Hospital is the nearest major hospital to Sefton, and we send a lot of get well flowers to this part of Sydney. If the recipient is still in hospital, think about format before colour. A boxed arrangement works better than a bouquet at the bedside because there is no vase to find, no scissors needed, no water to spill. The florist will keep scent light and colours cheerful without tipping into anything too formal.
The just because orders are some of our favourites. No pressure to get it perfect for a milestone. No expectation from the recipient. It lands on the doorstep and the surprise does all the work. A bright mixed bunch or a simple bunch of seasonal stems is usually all it takes. The florist picks what looks best on the day.
Birthdays are the easy ones. Bold colour, seasonal variety, and something the florist can have fun with. If you know their favourite colour, mention it in the order notes. If you do not, birthday flowers in a mix of brights almost always hit the mark. For someone who says they do not want anything, flowers on the doorstep at lunchtime change their mind quickly.
Let the florist decide. Our Florist's Choice Bunch at $74.50 gives the florist freedom to use the best stems available on the day. It regularly outperforms more expensive arrangements because the florist works with what is freshest rather than matching a fixed recipe. Or start with flowers under $60 if budget is the priority. Same quality, smaller bunch.
Phone: Call 1300 360 469 and speak to a real person in Australia. Or order online any time and we will get it to a partner florist first thing.
Same day delivery: Order before 2pm weekdays or 10am Saturdays. The florist needs time to source the stems, condition them in water, build the order, and deliver before end of business. Rushing that process means shorter vase life, and we will not do that.
No Sunday delivery. Flower markets close Saturday afternoon. Stock sitting through a weekend loses around 30 percent of its vase life before it even reaches the van. We would rather not deliver on Sunday than deliver flowers that are past their best by Tuesday.
Delivery fee: $16.95 to Sefton. We subsidise the actual cost of delivery because we believe flowers should be accessible. The real cost of a personal, hand delivered service is often higher, but we absorb the difference.
A warehouse arrangement ships in a box for 24 to 48 hours. By the time it reaches a doorstep in Sefton, it has lost days of vase life before anyone unwraps it. Our model works differently. Your order goes to a partner florist who buys stems that day, treats them properly, and brings the finished arrangement to the door in person. That gap between warehouse shipping and same day handmade is the gap between flowers that fade by Wednesday and flowers that last into the following week.
If anything is not right with your delivery, send photos to [email protected] within 24 hours and we will sort it out. We also take calls on 1300 360 469. Problems do happen in floristry. Fresh product, weather, transport. When they do, we fix them. No runaround.
