Two people. No warehouse. No factory. Just a network of actual florists who make fresh arrangements by hand. I'm Siobhan, and Andrew and I have been running Lily's Florist since we bought a small flower shop in Kingscliff back in 2006 with zero experience and our daughter Asha seven months away. We started covering the peninsula suburbs like Umina through our Central Coast partner florists around 2012, and the corridor has grown steadily since. The full story is here.
The most common mistake I saw during fifteen years on the bench was placement. People spend good money on flowers and then put them on the windowsill in full afternoon sun. In a coastal suburb like Umina, where the light bounces off the water and magnifies through glass, that is a recipe for flowers that fade in forty eight hours.
Red flowers are the worst affected. The compounds that give roses and gerberas their deep colour break down under UV light faster than any other pigment group. A red rose in direct sun will fade to a dull pink by day two. I saw it constantly at the shop in Kingscliff, where beachside customers would call wondering why their roses had lost all colour. The sun had bleached the anthocyanins right out of the petals.
My rule is simple. Keep them out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources. A kitchen bench, a hallway table, somewhere with good ambient light but no direct beam through the window. In Umina, most of the houses along Ocean Beach Road and up toward the Bouddi National Park side get strong afternoon light from the west. Move the vase to a shadier spot and you will get an extra four or five days. That is free vase life for doing nothing except shifting a vase two metres to the left.
When your flowers arrive at Umina, they have been made that day. A partner florist covering the peninsula sources stems from the Sydney markets early in the morning and brings them back to the shop. The stems go into water for a couple of hours so they rehydrate properly after transport. Then the florist builds your arrangement and gets it out the door. Hours old when it arrives.

* How it works. You order, we connect with a local Umina florist, they deliver fresh. No post. No boxes.
Umina has young families and a growing number of retirees, so the mix of occasions we see leans toward celebrations and milestones. The florist builds each arrangement from what looks best at the market that morning. Seasonal by default, suited to whoever is receiving it.
Anniversaries reward quality over quantity. A smaller arrangement of premium stems will always outperform a large bunch of filler. Our anniversary flowers lean toward classic combinations, roses with seasonal greenery, and the florist will adjust the palette to suit the tone you describe. If you are not sure, tell us the colour of their living room. The florist can work with that.
New parents are running on three hours of sleep and cold toast. The flowers need to be zero maintenance. Nothing that drops petals into a bassinet, nothing with a strong perfume that might unsettle the baby. Simple, bright, and built to last without daily attention. Our new baby flowers are designed with that in mind. The florist selects hardy stems in cheerful colours and keeps the design clean.
Most people reach for roses when it is a birthday. That works, but a florist with access to a full market will do better. Gerberas, lilies, seasonal mixes in whatever colours are peaking that week. Bright and cheerful is the brief for birthdays and the florist knows that. Browse our birthday flowers for ideas, knowing the florist will use what looks best on the day, which is why the result often exceeds the photo.
Let the florist decide. Our Florist's Choice Bunch at $74.50 gives the florist full creative control using the freshest stems available that day. It is our most popular option and the feedback is consistently strong because the florist picks what they know will last. For a lighter budget, flowers under $60 still get you a genuine, hand made arrangement.
Order online any time or call us on 1300 360 469 between 7am and 5pm AEST. If you are calling to discuss an order or need help choosing, Anna and the team are on the phones and they have been doing this for over fifteen years.
Same day delivery: Order by 2pm weekdays or 10am Saturdays. The cutoff exists because the florist needs time to build your arrangement properly. Rushing past that point means stems that have not been conditioned, and unconditioned stems lose days of vase life. The cutoff protects the quality of what arrives.
No Sunday delivery. Flower markets close Saturday afternoon. Any florist delivering on a Sunday is using stock from Friday, which has already lost roughly a third of its potential vase life before it reaches the vase. We would rather skip a day than send flowers that disappoint by Tuesday.
Delivery fee: $16.95. That is subsidised. The actual cost of a driver, a vehicle, fuel, and the time to physically deliver to an Umina address is higher. We absorb part of it to keep the fee reasonable.
Your order moves fast once it is placed. We route it to a florist covering the Umina Beach area. They source their stems from Flemington, condition them, put your order together, and deliver. Most same day orders are at the door within a few hours of the cutoff. You will receive a confirmation email with a reference number you can use if you need to contact us.
If something is not right, we want to know quickly. Email [email protected] or call 1300 360 469 within 24 hours and include a photo. We move fast on complaints because the florist relationship depends on quality. If the flowers do not meet the standard, we will make it right.
