Windsor, Hawkesbury River, historic outer western Sydney. Andrew lived in Strathfield back then, his mate Brian had a boat. Brian's dad would take them out water skiing on the river a few times a year. About an hour's drive from Strathfield to Windsor but absolutely worth it for a day on the Hawkesbury. Windsor Through Water Skis and Weekend Adventures

Windsor is in the Hawkesbury area, outer western Sydney, proper river town. One of Australia's oldest settlements, Georgian architecture scattered throughout, completely different vibe from inner city Sydney. Close to Richmond, Pitt Town, Wilberforce. The Hawkesbury River runs right through it which brings its own complications at times, sadly.

Andrew lived in Strathfield at the time, inner west Sydney. His mate Brian had a boat, like proper ski boat, unlike is other mate Dave and the 'tinny'. Brian and his dad would take Andrew out water skiing on the Hawkesbury River, few times a year throughout the warmer months. Not often, but memorable all the same. Quite a drive from Strathfield to Windsor, about 50-60 kilometres, roughly an hour depending on traffic back then. But worth it for a proper day on the river.

Water skiing, messing around on the boat, good times with Brian's family. Windsor felt like actual countryside compared to Strathfield, like proper country, for a city boy. The generosity of your mate's family letting you tag along for these adventures, that sticks with you. Different era of Andrew's life, before Abbotsford and the tinnie days, before any of the rest of his Sydney chapters.

Windsor is a bit more spread out than inner Sydney suburbs, mix of historic homes and newer developments around the edges. Business addresses typically by 5pm, homes by 6pm. We're originally from Sydney ourselves, lived in Drummoyne before the big move north in 2007. Western Sydney came into our delivery network early on, makes sense given our Sydney origins.

From Water Skiing Weekends to Flower Deliveries

We both worked in Sydney before buying Kingscliff Florist in 2007. Lived in Drummoyne as a couple, knew the inner west well. But we also knew the outer west through friends, adventures, weekend escapes. Andrew's water skiing trips to Windsor with Brian's family, that kind of thing teaches you geography without realizing you're learning it.
