I'll be honest, Bonville is a small town, you could blink and miss it on the Pacific Highway, but it holds a strange little place in our family history and I thought I'd share it.
My partner Andrew has this story he tells, usually after a few beers, about December 1993. His Dad, Ken, was up in Coffs Harbour for some pharmacy conference and they'd planned a father son golf trip to Bonville Golf Resort for about 6 months. Andrew was living in Sydney at the time, early twenties, and decided to drive up in his yellow Mitsubishi Colt. No air conditioning. In December. On a day that hit 44 degrees.

* Andrew, Ivy, me, and Asha. Andrew still tells that story about the yellow Mitsubishi Colt and the 44-degree Bonville heatwave like it was yesterday. I think he’s still trying to justify shooting a 96, but at least our flower delivery logistics are a lot more reliable than his 1993 golf swing!
He reckons the median strips on some roads were literally popping from the heat expansion. It was so hot that having the windows up was cooler than having them down, if you can believe that. By Hexham he had to pull over, both him and the car were close to passing out. He arrived 3 hours after their tee time, they had to reschedule to the next day, Andrew shot a 96 which he describes as painful, while Ken cruised around in 74, his usual brilliant self.
Fast forward to February 2020, Andrew and I stayed at Bon Villas Bed and Breakfast in Bonville when we drove up for the Elton John Farewell Yellow Brick Road concert in Coffs Harbour. We skipped breakfast at the B&B and drove into Coffs for coffee at Urban Espresso Lounge instead which was a good call. The concert was unreal, one of those nights you don't forget.
Bonville is one of those towns where milestone birthdays matter. Maybe it's the retirees on acreage, maybe it's grandparents who moved up from Sydney for the quiet life, but 60th birthdays outsell every other occasion here by about 10%. There's something lovely about that.

* I keep this chalkboard to show exactly how we work. No warehouses, no 'flowers in a box' via Australia Post. We route your order directly to our local partner in Coffs Harbour who hand-delivers straight to those beautiful Bonville acreage properties.
If you're sending flowers for a 60th, or any birthday really, our florist in Coffs Harbour will have them delivered fresh on the day. Same goes for anniversaries, thank you flowers, or just because. You order, we send the details to our partner florist, they make the bouquet that morning from whatever is freshest in shop, and their courier gets it to Bonville that same day.
The short version is that we bought a tiny florist and gift shop in Kingscliff NSW back in 2006. We knew nothing about flowers, we were more interested in organic skincare and baby products at the time. But the previous owner had just paid for a Yellow Pages ad, the actual book, and suddenly we were getting 40 plus calls a day for flower deliveries to places we'd never heard of. Coffs Harbour was one of them, and Bonville by extension.

* This was our world in 2006 on Marine Parade, Kingscliff. It was behind this counter that we first started taking those random calls for places like Bonville. I didn't even know where the golf resort was back then (Andrew did), we just knew people needed a way to send something beautiful to the Coffs Coast.
After months of saying sorry we can't help, we had a lightbulb moment. What if we found florists in those towns and asked them to help us with the orders? No fees, no memberships, just a small commission covered by adding a few extra stems to each bouquet. Our first partner said yes, then another, then another. By 2009 we had over 150 florists and Lily's Florist was born. Today we work with over 800 partner florists across Australia, and we're still a Mum and Dad operation making decisions at the dinner table, not in boardrooms.
We partnered with Feefo back in 2013 because we wanted honest feedback, even when it stings. Feefo only allows reviews from verified customers, people who have actually ordered flowers, so you won't find fake 5 star reviews from someone's cousin or nasty 1 star rants from competitors. Every review is real.

* This award matters to us because it’s based on over 3,000 reviews from real people. As I said, sometimes the feedback stings, but with over 2,400 four and five-star reviews last year, it tells us that our 'Mum and Dad' approach is actually working for our customers.
In 2024 we received over 3,000 customer reviews and were awarded the Feefo Trusted Service Award. To qualify a business needs at least 50 reviews with an average of 4 stars or above. We hit over 2,400 reviews at 4 or 5 stars which is more than 60 times the minimum. Flowers are subjective, what one person calls lush another might call over the top, so putting ourselves out there with zero control over what people say took some guts. But it keeps us honest and helps us improve.
Order online or call us on 1300 360 469. Our Australian based team, including Anna who has been with us for 15 years and is an ex florist herself, will help you choose the right flowers and get them delivered same day to Bonville. No scripts, no offshore call centres, just real people who know flowers.
