We'll have flowers in Cambooya this afternoon, in town or out on the farm. Anything ordered before 2pm on a weekday, or 10am Saturday, goes out today; after that, you pick the day at checkout. We've been sending flowers to Cambooya since 2007. The Bright Arrangement With Chocolates makes an easy birthday, and the Wreath With White & Purple Tones suits a service at All Saints or Sacred Heart on Eton Street. Buy securely online from our same-day range below, or call us and one of our friendly, Australian-based team will do it with you, card message and all.
How Long Will Flowers Last in Cambooya? A Week or More
Most flowers give a week or more, and a Cambooya winter stretches that. July nights there average two degrees in the post office weather records, and a cold house slows a flower right down: every ten degrees warmer roughly doubles how fast a stem burns through its stored sugar. In my experience a rose that gets a week in a warm room can go ten days or more in a Cambooya July. I learnt how much the cold matters from a bucket of roses forgotten in the cool room over a long weekend. They came out looking better than the fresh delivery.
January afternoons average thirty degrees. That's when I'd lean on the woody stems, the natives and their cousins such as leucadendron, which holds ten days or more even in a warm room. Roses still do beautifully in summer, kept in the coolest room and out of the afternoon sun.
A birthday in town or on a farm, a service on Eton Street, someone in a Toowoomba ward. Here's what to send for each, and what the notes need. Our native flowers suit all three.
A town address is simple enough. On a farm they could be in a paddock or at the cattle sale all day, so put a mobile in the notes and where to leave it, the back verandah or the shed. Our florists tend to call first. There are birthday flowers picked for men, and our best-selling birthday flowers are a safe start for anyone else.
Anna's call: an arrangement in wet foam (the Blissful Botanics Arrangement is one) keeps drinking on a shaded verandah until somebody comes home.
You've got the notice, a church and a time. All Saints, Sacred Heart and the Uniting church are a few doors apart on Eton Street, so name the church and the time in the notes, or the funeral director if Burstows or Hiram Philp in Toowoomba have it. Funeral flowers go to the service, and sympathy flowers for the home to the family after. "Thinking of you all today" says enough on the card.
Uki, 2008. The notes said "the church, 11am". I found Holy Trinity locked, nobody about, and rang the funeral director from the car park. Graveside. I beat the hearse by four minutes. That's why we ask for the church by name.
A sheath, like the White Lily & Rose Sheath, is tied to lie flat on the coffin, so it needs no vase. Whites and creams don't compete with anything else in the church.
You've got a ward number off a text and you can't drop in. Put their full name, the hospital and the ward in the notes: Toowoomba Hospital on Pechey Street, St Vincent's Private or St Andrew's. In our experience the ward desk takes them and the staff bring them in. Hospital flowers are sized for a bedside, and get well flowers work for the house once they're home. "Rest up. The dog misses you." does the job.
Send something that brings its own water. The Blue Mist Arrangement sits in wet foam, so nobody on the ward has to find a vase.
A teacher at Cambooya State School on Harrow Street, the neighbour who fed the dogs, or no reason at all. Thank you flowers and thinking of you flowers cover most of it.
Anna has a view on this. The Australian Natives Bunch suits nearly anyone, and once the softer stems finish, the woody ones dry where they stand and keep on a shelf for months.

Birthday today? Before 2pm on a weekday, it's still a same-day order to Cambooya.
Shop Birthday FlowersBefore 2pm weekdays for same day, so it's made and out to Cambooya that afternoon. Before 10am Saturday, because it's a short day at the Brisbane market in Rocklea. Later than that, you pick the date at checkout.
No Sunday delivery, except Mother's Day.
A service: the church or funeral director, and the time. A farm: a mobile and where to leave it. A ward or aged care room: their full name and the ward or room.
In our experience, the funeral director's staff at a church, the ward desk at Toowoomba Hospital or St Vincent's, and reception at an aged care home such as Bolton Clarke Westhaven in Harristown. Before 2pm, it's in Cambooya this afternoon.
A confirmation email comes straight away. Our partner florists in Toowoomba, some with us more than thirteen years, make it up and drive it down. In 2007 and 2008 the Toowoomba area was one of our ten busiest, and every order went to the florist on a fax.
If anything's wrong, ring 1300 360 469, 7am to 6pm weekdays and from 10am Saturday, or email [email protected] with a photo, and we sort it out with the florist.
Don't worry if nobody rings to say thanks straight away. People on the land tend to ring at night, once the jobs are done (and after a funeral it can be a week or more). I took orders on the phones from 2006 until Ivy came along in 2011, and now and then a funeral order came through without the church on it, which meant the florist ringing the sender to ask which one. Flowers are such a small thing to send, and somehow they're the thing people mention a year later.
Then the flowers are on the kitchen table at their place, and the card's on the fridge.
