Ordering Lilies for a Drayton Home? They Look Their Best From Day Four

Send lilies with most of the buds still shut. Day one can look a little sparse; by day four the stem is full. Each bud opens after the one below it, so in a cool room an Oriental lily goes a fortnight or more, in my experience.
The only job at the other end is the pollen. Pinch the orange anthers off with a tissue as each flower opens. Dry pollen bonds to fabric, so lift any on a shirt with sticky tape and never wipe it. I learnt that on my own white shirt, first year on the bench.

Get Well Flowers for Someone Just Home From Hospital
She's home, she's tired, and nobody's meant to drop in yet, so get well flowers do the visiting. If she's still on the ward at Toowoomba Hospital or St Andrew's, in our experience hospital flowers go to the ward desk and staff take them in. On the card: "No need to ring back. Just rest."

For a Birthday at a Retirement Village, Keep It Benchtop Size
Mum's turning eighty at Drayton Villas on Drayton Road and you're in Brisbane. With more than a hundred homes in the village, her villa number in the notes is what gets the 80th birthday flowers, or the 70th, to the right door.

Funeral Flowers for St Matthew's or the Cemetery on Anzac Avenue
If the service is at St Matthew's, the old stone church on the hill, send the funeral flowers to the church and something smaller to the house a week on. A card as plain as "With you in every way we can be" is plenty. The Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery is a separate address, on Anzac Avenue in Harristown, so name it in the notes.
I'm fussy about cemetery names for a reason. In 2008 a sheath left our Marine Parade shop in Kingscliff marked "graveside, Tweed Valley Cemetery, Duranbah". Andrew drove to Duranbah Beach. The cemetery is on Eviron Road among the cane, and he made it with ten minutes to spare. It's our funniest funeral story, and I still feel a bit sick telling it.

Before 2pm on a weekday for same day, which leaves time to make it and get it out the same afternoon.
Before 10am Saturday, as most florists work a half day.
No Sunday delivery, except Mother's Day.
What the notes need
The villa number at Drayton Villas. The ward at Toowoomba Hospital, St Andrew's or St Vincent's Private. For a funeral, the church or chapel and the time. The cemetery and the villas both carry Drayton's name and sit just outside it, so write the place's own name in the notes.
Who takes it
At a house, whoever answers, or a shaded spot you name. For a service at St Matthew's, or one arranged by Hiram Philp or McGrath Funerals, in our experience the florist aims to get there ahead of the family. Order before 2pm and it's in Drayton this afternoon.
Most Orders Go Quiet After Checkout, and That's Fine
You'll get a confirmation email, then it usually goes quiet, and quiet is good. Someone just home from hospital isn't reaching for the phone. I took those "she hasn't rung" calls from 2006 until Ivy arrived in 2011, and nearly every time the flowers were already on the table.

The order goes to our partner florist in Toowoomba on the day. It's built, the card goes on as you wrote it, and it goes in the van. Lilies usually leave in bud. Now and then that gets us a call saying they look smaller than the photo. Give them two days. If something is actually wrong, email a photo the same day and we fix it.
Name the place, add the number, and leave the rest with us.
