Flowers delivered in East Toowoomba today, to a house, a boarding school or a room at St Vincent's Private Hospital, when your order is in before 2pm on a weekday. We have been delivering into Toowoomba since 2007. For a birthday, the Bright Arrangement With Chocolates is the easy pick. For a hospital room, 3 Gerberas In A Vase. Choose from our same-day range below and buy online in a couple of minutes, or call us and one of our friendly, Australian-based team will sort it while you wait.
Will they last in East Toowoomba? Longer than in Brisbane, mostly
Cool air slows down everything a cut flower does, and at about seven hundred metres up, Toowoomba has plenty of it. Most stems simply go further in an East Toowoomba front room than they would in a Brisbane one. The catch is winter. Heaters run all day in the older houses, and warm dry air pulls water out of a petal faster than the stem can replace it, so the edges dry first. A heater is harder on a bunch than any frost outside.
Keep the vase away from the heater and top it up every day. Roses, gerberas and carnations then give the full run, and in my experience carnations will go fourteen days or more.
Our flower arrangements arrive in their own container, which suits the three kinds of address packed into East Toowoomba's four square kilometres: old family homes, two big boarding schools and a private hospital.
The birthday is today and you will not be there to hand them over. For a house, put the recipient's mobile in the notes in case nobody is home. If the birthday girl boards at Fairholme College, add her boarding house too; from what our florists tell us, the school office signs and boarding staff pass them on. Our best-selling birthday bunches and birthday flowers for a daughter both travel well.
Anna's call: the Australian Natives Bunch. Woody native stems drink slowly and hold their shape for a week or more, and if there is a banksia in it, the cone dries on a shelf for months afterwards.
You have a ward number off a text and a first name. Ward or home is the first call. Hospital flowers tend to go to reception, and staff carry them up, so the notes need the full name and ward. I learnt that at John Flynn in Tugun in 2008, holding a big arrangement and a first name on a Post-it for twenty minutes. Our new baby flowers fit a bedside. Card idea: Welcome, little one.
Scent travels in a shared room. An Oriental lily fills the whole space, so for a ward I always steered toward gerberas, roses and carnations, whose pollen stays inside the flower. Save the lilies for the homecoming.
Someone has died, and the family is fielding visitors and phone calls. For the service, a wreath or sheath goes to the funeral director, with the director's name and service time in the notes. In our experience sympathy flowers for the home land better a week later, when the casseroles stop. Card idea: Thinking of you all. No need to reply.
Whites and soft greens sit easily in a room like that. The Gorgeous White Arrangement comes in its own container, so nobody grieving has to find a vase.
Plenty of orders never sit under a heading. A thank-you to a neighbour, a new job, an aunt you have not rung in a while.
Anna's call: the Florist's Choice Bunch. With no theme to match, a florist can work from whatever came in best that morning and put some personality into it. Mention any colour they cannot stand. Our flower bunches show the rest of the range.

From what we have seen, the hospital desk or ward clerk signs, and the school office takes it in for boarders. In before 2pm, there this afternoon.
Your order goes to our partner florist in Toowoomba, who makes and delivers it on the day. To change a card or a date, email [email protected]. If something is wrong when it lands, ring 1300 360 469 (7am to 6pm weekdays, from 10am Saturday) and send a photo the same day.
The part nobody warns you about is the quiet afterwards. You send flowers to a new mum at St Vincent's and then nothing, no text, no photo. I heard that worry on the phone for years (usually from a grandmother, usually around dinner time). She has a baby to feed, so give her a few days. It is a small thing next to a new baby, and somehow it is still the card that ends up in the baby book. Now and then a patient goes home the morning the flowers arrive, so if discharge is close, send them to the house.
Whatever the address, the notes field is still the most important box on the order form.
