Rangeville gets same-day flowers on any weekday order placed before 2pm; after that, you pick the day at checkout. We’ve sent flowers into Toowoomba since 2007, when it was one of our ten busiest areas. For Bupa Rangeville or Symes Thorpe, add the resident’s full name and wing or house in the notes. Pick 3 Gerberas In A Vase for a care room or the Rose, Gerbera & Lilies Bunch for a birthday from our range below and buy online. Or call us, and one of our friendly, helpful, Australian-based team will stay on the line until it’s done.
Will the Roses Look Like the Photo When They Reach Rangeville?
On day one, usually not quite, and that’s a good sign. A rose that arrives in tight bud still has its whole vase life ahead of it. At the market I used to check the green sepals under the head first: folded right back meant the bud had stored enough sugar to open properly. Give it a day or two and it opens into the rose you were picturing.
Rangeville’s cooler air helps. Every ten degrees of warmth roughly doubles how fast a cut stem burns through that sugar, so in my experience a rose that gives four or five days in a hot Brisbane room can go a week or more in a mild house near Picnic Point. Keep it off a sunny sill and let it open in its own time.
The address decides the bunch here: a family house, a room at Bupa or Symes Thorpe, or a service. Each card below covers one, and our roses suit all three.
The invitation says 60. Lunch is at the family house. You are in Sydney with a deadline. Send the Rose, Gerbera & Lilies Bunch to the house for the morning, before the kitchen bench disappears under platters; it suits a 60th birthday or a 50th. Put a mobile number in the notes so the florist can ring it if nobody comes to the door.
Toowoomba tap water in winter comes out properly cold. For the first fill, run it until it is just warm, because warm water climbs a thirsty stem faster.
Mum’s birthday, or just too long since your last visit. Bupa Rangeville on Mackenzie Street has 108 beds and two dementia communities; Symes Thorpe on Stenner Street is smaller houses on 44 acres. Either way, the full name and the wing or house go in the notes. For a 70th or a 90th birthday, the card can be simple: “Happy birthday, Mum. Save me a slice.”
Early in 2008 I carried lilies into Noble Lakeside Park, the retirement village up the road from our Kingscliff shop, with Asha, nine months old, objecting from the car. Pollen down my shirt, a stem snapped on the path, residents at the window. I drove home looking like the intern. Anna has firm views on what should have been in my hands.
Send it standing in its own vase or box, in flowers they would know from a garden: roses, daisies, gerberas. Save lilies for a house, where someone will pinch the pollen off as each one opens.
The notice is up, the service is Thursday, and you cannot be there. Send a wreath or sheath, such as the Wreath With White & Purple Tones, with the funeral director, church and start time in the notes: St Mark’s on High Street, Hiram Philp on Herries Street, or a memorial in the chapel at Symes Thorpe. Sympathy flowers for the home can follow a week later, with a card as short as “With love to you all.” You may never know if they noticed yours among the others, and sending them is still right.
White, cream and soft green sit quietly among the tributes. A bright mixed bunch among all that white looks like it came to the wrong event. At the house afterwards, colour is welcome again.
A thank-you to a teacher at St Joseph’s College on James Street. The neighbour who fed the dog for a fortnight. No reason at all. None of them needs a category.
Anna’s pick: the Pastel Pink Lilies & Roses Arrangement. It arrives in a container, so nobody hunts for a vase, and soft pink reads right for a teacher, a neighbour or a friend. Pinch the lily anthers off as each bloom opens and the pollen never reaches a shirt.

A weekday order placed before 2pm makes this afternoon’s run to Mackenzie and Stenner Streets.
Send Thinking of You Flowers2pm on weekdays, so the florist has the afternoon to build it and get it out.
10am on Saturday, because the Saturday run finishes early.
No Sunday delivery, except Mother’s Day.
A house: a mobile, and where to leave it. Bupa Rangeville or Symes Thorpe: the full name, plus the wing or house. A hospital: the ward. A service: the funeral director, the church and the start time.
Care homes tend to take flowers at reception. St Vincent’s Private on Scott Street and Toowoomba Hospital on Pechey Street usually send them up from the front desk. In our experience, funeral flowers go to Hiram Philp or whichever funeral director is running the service, ahead of the start. A weekday order placed before 2pm reaches Rangeville this afternoon.
The order goes to our partner florist in Toowoomba, who builds it on the delivery day. To change a name, a room or the card, write to [email protected], and the sooner the better.
Something not right when it lands? Ring 1300 360 469, 7am to 6pm on weekdays, and email a photo the same day.
When I was on the phones, the calls I remember best were from people whose mum hadn’t rung to say thanks. Nearly every time the flowers were already on her windowsill; she just hadn’t found the phone yet, or the words (care homes are busy places, and so are the people in them). Give it a day or two. Now and then a stem in the photo isn’t at the market that morning, and the florist swaps in the closest colour, so it can look a little different and still be lovely.
Write the card as if it will be kept. Plenty are.
