From June until late in the year the mills are crushing, and on a cane farm the harvester runs till dark, so if your person hasn't rung by tea time, that's normal (they're probably asleep on the couch). When one went wrong out that way in my years on the phones, it was usually the hour: flowers at three, party at lunch. If there's a lunch, say so in the notes and the florist knows to go early.
