Same Day Flowers Delivery - Australia Wide!
Flowers can reach Harper Creek this afternoon on any weekday order placed before 2pm, made that day by our partner florist nearby. If their address now reads Conondale, that's fine: Harper Creek was folded into Conondale, and Lily's Florist takes orders under either name. Some Crystal Waters lots still carry the Harper Creek name, so if that's where they live, add the lot number and the florist can find the house. Pick from our hand-selected range of same-day flowers below and pay securely online, or call us and one of our friendly, helpful, Australian-based team will help you choose and sort out the address, old name or new.
On the Harper Creek flats, still wet air is harder on a rose than the heat is
In a creek valley that takes around 1,400 millimetres of rain a year, damp, still air does more damage to a bunch than the heat does. Botrytis is grey mould. Its spores sit on every flower there is, waiting for warmth and no breeze, so a bunch left sealed in its wrap on a sticky afternoon can show fuzzy grey patches on its roses by the next morning. The first time I saw it, one February at the bench at Salt in Kingscliff, I blamed the stock. It was the plastic. Whoever takes the flowers in should get the wrap off straight away, recut the stems, and stand the vase somewhere the air moves, near an open door or a window that gets a breeze. Roses do beautifully once they can breathe.
If it's a birthday, and it usually is, our best-selling birthday flowers are the quickest place to start. The three below take a bit more thought, mostly because of where they're going.
Someone you love has just bought a few acres on the creek, and you'd like something waiting when the boxes come off the truck. Our celebration flowers suit a new place. Put a mobile in the notes as well, because new owners haven't always got a sign up yet.
I found that out in 2008, with Asha in her baby seat, taking a welcome bunch up Byrrill Creek Road past Uki, where the letterboxes sit a long way apart up the valley. The couple had moved in that week and there was nothing on their gate, so I counted letterboxes instead (and I was sure I'd counted right). Wrong farmhouse. The man there looked at the name on the envelope, said "You'll want the new people, two gates up, green tank," and went back to his fence. Harper Creek Road is that kind of road, so a word about the gate helps the florist more than the number does.
Anna's call: in a house full of boxes, nobody has unpacked a vase yet, so go with something from the flower arrangements range. An arrangement comes in its own container with water already in it, so it can go on the first flat surface and keep drinking. A hand-tied bunch has to wait for someone to find a vase before it can drink.
They're out of hospital, from Maleny or from Sunshine Coast University Hospital at Birtinya, and you're a long drive away. Once they're home, send get well flowers to the house. If they're still in, our hospital flowers are sized for a bedside, but check the discharge date before you order; when we took the calls ourselves, we heard more than once about flowers reaching a bed that had been stripped that morning. Flowers won't get anyone back on their feet faster, and they still make the first week home feel like somebody noticed. On the card, "Home at last. Take it slowly." says enough.
A recovery room tends to stay shut and dim, and scent builds up fast when the doors stay closed. Oriental lilies and stock are glorious in an open kitchen. For a sickroom, pollen-free Asiatic lilies and chrysanthemums give the same colour without filling the air.
It's the last week of term, and your grandchild's teacher at Conondale State School on the Maleny-Kenilworth Road has earned a proper thank-you (teachers get given a lot of mugs). Send it to the school in school hours with the teacher's full name and class. In our experience the front office takes flowers in and gets them to the right room, and a school that has emptied out for the day has nobody left to take them.
Teachers carry these home at three o'clock in a hot car. A hand-tied bunch rides that trip best standing upright in the footwell, and if it came with a water pack, the little bag of water tied around the stems, leave it on until they're inside.
Plenty of good reasons to send flowers don't have a heading: a new job, a calf that finally arrived, a friend you haven't rung in too long. Anna has a view on this one.
Go with Florist's Choice. The florist gets to build it from whatever came in firmest that day, and in a humid week those are the stems that hold their heads up longest.
Or browse by what you have in mind
Get it in before 2pm on a weekday and it can be on their kitchen table this afternoon.
Mixed Flowers, Made Today2pm on weekdays for same-day, because the florist makes each order that day and needs time after that to get it out along the valley roads. Order later and you pick the delivery day at checkout.
10am on Saturday, because Saturday runs finish early.
No Sunday delivery, except Mother's Day.
The road and number, under either Harper Creek or Conondale. Then what the gate looks like (a tank, a shed, a cattle grid) and a mobile, so the florist can ring from the road.
Whoever is home. If there's a chance nobody will be, say where the shade is, a verandah or a carport, and in our experience the florist leaves them there, out of the sun. Order before 2pm and it can be up the valley before dark.
You'll get an email confirmation, and after that it's in the florist's hands. If you want to check on it, or something isn't right, ring us on 1300 360 469, 7am to 6pm weekdays and from 10am Saturday, or write to [email protected].
If your phone stays quiet afterwards, that's normal on a property. In our years on the phones, 2006 to 2013, we talked a lot of worried senders through the wait for a thank-you call that didn't come until after dark, once the day's jobs were done (and it nearly always came).
The corner of Harper Creek Road and Aherns Road has had a sawmill on it since the 1930s. It is heritage-listed. It is also a very good landmark. "Third gate past the sawmill" gets a van to a house faster than a number in the hundreds. The first try that fails out this way is usually a shut gate with nobody answering. When that happens the florist rings the number on the order, so keep yours within reach on the day. If something arrives wrong, tell us and we get a photo from the florist the same day.
After that it's their table, their vase, and their turn to ring you, which was the whole idea.
