We deliver flowers to Helidon Spa today: order before 2pm on a weekday and they arrive this afternoon, or pick any later day at checkout. For a birthday, the Australian Natives Bunch and the Bright Arrangement With Chocolates are easy picks, and sympathy flowers have their own tab below. A house well back off the road just needs a mobile in the notes, and for someone living at the Helidon Spa Eco Village, add their site number. Buy online in a couple of minutes, or call us and one of our friendly, Australian-based team will take the order with you.
Keeping Flowers Fresh at a Helidon Spa House Starts With the Water
Nobody thinks about the vase water, and it decides how long the flowers last. Hard bore water is heavy with dissolved minerals and usually alkaline, and a cut stem drinks it slowly while bacteria get going in the vase. By day three the water's cloudy and the heads are dropping.
Rainwater from a tank is far softer, so use that if the house has one. If a sachet of flower food comes with the flowers, tip in the lot: sugar, something to stop the bacteria, and an acid that takes the water down to around pH 4, where a stem drinks freely. I learnt it the slow way, on a run of buckets that went cloudy by Wednesday every week until I changed the water I was filling them with.
Birthdays, funerals and care rooms each need a different detail from you at checkout, so pick the card that fits. Our hand-tied flower bunches suit all three.
It's Mum's birthday, or a mate's, and the address you have is a site at the Helidon Spa Eco Village on the Warrego Highway, or a house set well back off the road. For the house, add a mobile and how to find the gate. For the van, add the site number.
I learnt the site-number lesson in January 2008 at the Kingscliff Beach Holiday Park, along Marine Parade from our old shop. The order gave the park and a name. I walked three rows of annexes with a birthday bunch, every camp chair watching, and knocked on the wrong van twice. The second bloke pointed with his coffee. Two rows over, the one with the bunting. Any park with rows of vans works the same way.
A bunch needs someone to find it a vase and fill it. An arrangement is built in wet foam and arrives already drinking, so the Florists Choice Birthday Arrangement can sit in the shade of an annex until they wander back.
The notice says St Joseph's on Gunn Street, or a service with Gatton Funerals, then a burial at Helidon General Cemetery.
In our experience service flowers go to the funeral director: Gatton Funerals on Crescent Street or Burstows on Cochrane Street, with the name of the person who has died and the service time in the notes. Funeral flowers or a wreath or sheath for the day itself, then sympathy flowers for the home a few days on. For the card, "Thinking of you all today" is plenty.
The White Lily & Rose Sheath is built to lie flat on the coffin lid. For the house, choose lilies in bud: they open one by one over the next week, and the vase stays full well after the funeral.
Dad's in care in Gatton now, or someone's in a ward, and you haven't got there in weeks.
Put the full name and the room or ward in the notes. From what our florists see, Regis on Dawson Drive and Gatton Hospital on William Street tend to take flowers at the front desk, and staff walk them through. Get well flowers for the ward, thinking of you flowers for the care room, with a card like "See you soon, Dad." He may not remember by Friday who sent them. They'll still be on his cabinet.
Anna's call: low and small. The Blue Mist Arrangement is built in a mirrored cube of wet foam, so it fits a bedside cabinet and nobody goes hunting for a vase.
Some orders fit no heading: a thank-you to the neighbour who fed the horses, a new job, a just-because. Anna has a view on this.
The Australian Native Arrangement is my pick when you don't know their taste. Woody native stems shrug off a warm room, and if the mix has leucadendron, in my experience that goes a fortnight.

Order natives before 2pm on a weekday and they can be on their way to Helidon Spa this afternoon.
Shop Australian Natives2pm weekdays for same day, which leaves time to make the flowers and get them out that afternoon. 10am Saturday, a short trading day for florists. Order after either cutoff and you choose the delivery day at checkout.
No Sunday delivery, except Mother's Day.
A site number at the eco village. A mobile and a landmark for acreage. The ward at Gatton Hospital or Toowoomba Hospital, the room at Regis Gatton, or the funeral director and service time.
The person, a neighbour, the eco village office, the reception desk at a ward or care home, or a shady spot you name in the notes. Order this morning and it goes out on today's run.
Once you've paid, the order goes to one of our partner florists in Toowoomba, some of them with us since before 2013, and it's made on the day. If it lands looking wrong, send a photo that day and we fix it.
Questions or changes: 1300 360 469, 7am to 6pm weekdays, or [email protected].
I took calls at the shop counter from 2006 until February 2011, just before Ivy came along, and the calls I remember were from people who'd sent flowers out to a property and then heard nothing all night (everyone was fine, they'd gone to bed at eight). Now and then an eco village order comes through with no site number, and the florist asks at the office. It works, it's just slower.
One site number saves a lap of the park.
