Same Day Flowers Delivery - Australia Wide!
We deliver flowers to Machans Beach today on any weekday order placed before 2pm, or on any later day you pick at checkout. Our reviews sit on Feefo, where we can't edit or delete them. Sending to a house on O'Shea Esplanade? Add a mobile in the notes so the flowers are handed to someone, out of the sea breeze. Choose an Australian Natives Bunch or a White Funeral Wreath from our same-day range below, or call us and our friendly, Australian-based team will read the order back before it goes.
Sending to a house by the sea? Pick flowers that can take the breeze
A bunch going to an address that looks straight at the sea wants its toughest stems on the outside. The breeze carries salt, salt settles on petals and pulls the water out of them, and the thin ones on the windward edge go papery at the tips within a couple of days. Woody stems round the outside take the wind for the softer ones inside. Native flowers are woody right through, so the wind has nothing to work on: the Native Arrangement With Chocolates is protea, pincushion and leucadendron in wet foam. In my experience the leucadendron lasts close to a fortnight in a warm room.
Roses and lilies do beautifully a room back from the open doors. I learnt that on beach-house tables on the Outer Banks in North Carolina: the vase nearest the deck always went first.
Birthdays are what we send most, sympathy next. Nine in ten homes in Machans Beach are houses, so flowers usually land on a verandah, weather and all. If nobody's going to hunt for a vase, our flower arrangements come ready to set down.
The birthday's at the beach and you're stuck somewhere else. Send birthday flowers for Mum or a 70th birthday bunch with a mobile in the notes and a neighbour or a shaded spot named, so if nobody answers the door the flowers still end up out of the wind.
I learnt the wind part in 2008 at Hastings Point, which has the same bones as Machans Beach: a creek on one side, the sea on the other. I put a seventieth birthday bunch on the outdoor table so I could knock, and the card went over the rail into Cudgera Creek. The birthday girl's husband fished it out with a landing net. She read it damp and laughed for a solid minute.
Anna's call: a boxed arrangement sits low in its foam and won't tip easily in a gust.
Someone's had a stint in Cairns Hospital and you're not sure they're still in. If they are, put the ward name in the notes; hospital flowers go to the ward desk and, in our experience, the staff take them through. If they're home, send get well flowers there instead. On the card: "Rest up. Thinking of you."
Oriental lilies fill a room, which is lovely at home and a lot for whoever's in the next bed. The 3 Gerberas In A Vase fits a bedside table and has no perfume to speak of.
Word travels fast in a place this size, and the family's house fills up before the funeral is even booked. Sympathy flowers for home go straight there. Wreaths and sheaths go through the funeral director, with the service time in the notes. On the card: "So sorry. We're thinking of you all."
White chrysanthemums are the long stayers in a sympathy bunch, around ten days in a warm lounge room.
Plenty of orders don't fit a heading: the neighbour who kept an eye on the place, a mate who's just moved in down the street.
Anna's pick: the Blue Mist Arrangement. It comes in a flower box, so there's no vase to find. Keep it out of the afternoon sun, where blue flowers and purples lose their colour, and away from the fruit bowl, because the delphinium in it drops its florets near ripening fruit.
Or browse by the person and the colour

When I was on our phones (2006 until February 2011, when Ivy was nearly here) so many orders came from people who'd moved away. Then they'd hear nothing and ring back worried. The quiet is normal. The thank-you tends to come once the fuss has died down, sometimes a week later. Flowers are a poor stand-in for the drive up, and they're still on the table when the neighbours call in.
Order, confirmation, flowers at the house. That's the lot.
