Mount Kynoch gets same-day flower delivery on any weekday order placed before 2pm, and after that you choose the delivery day at checkout. If the house is one of the new ones in Habitat, off Habitat Drive, and the number isn't up yet, pop the lot number in the notes. The Bright Bunch & White Wine suits a birthday, the Pink Lily & Rose Sheath a service. Both are in our same-day range below, or call us and one of our friendly, Australian-based team will take it from there.
Will Flowers Last in a New Mount Kynoch House? Give Them the Shady Side
Two houses a few minutes apart in Mount Kynoch can give the same bunch a different week. Plenty of the older acreage homes sit under tall gums, while the trees in the newest streets of Habitat are still saplings, so the afternoon sun comes straight through the glass.
Warmth is what ages a cut flower: every ten degrees roughly doubles how fast it burns its stored sugar, and in a bright room the petals drop days sooner than they would in shade. I learnt that in North Carolina, from a sunny front window that finished every bunch we stood in it. Keep the vase on the shady side. Chrysanthemums and carnations go two weeks or more in a mild room, in my experience, and roses and lilies do beautifully there too.
Flowers sent here go to someone's home, on acreage along the range or a new street in Habitat. For a promotion or a new set of keys there are our celebration flowers; the three usual reasons are below.
It's their birthday, they've not long moved in, and you've only seen the house in photos.
New houses are easy to miss. In 2008 I drove a birthday bunch from our Marine Parade shop to a brand-new street in Casuarina (where we lived, which makes this worse), Asha in her car seat, and not one house had a number. I knocked at the display home and walked out holding a brochure. So describe the house in the notes, and if it's your daughter's first place, have a look at our birthday flowers for a daughter.
Anna's pick: a rose bunch from the best-selling birthday flowers, recut on an angle the first night so the stems keep drinking, and kept out of direct sun.
A baby has arrived, the visitors are queued, and you'd love to be one of them.
At St Vincent's Private on Scott Street or Toowoomba Hospital on Pechey Street, put the mother's full name and the maternity ward in the notes. At home, any day in the first fortnight is lovely. A card that works: "Congratulations. Sleep when you can." More in our new baby flowers.
Choose one of the flower arrangements over a bunch: it sits in wet foam in its own base, so nobody hunts for scissors at 2am. Go gentle on scent, too; a newborn's room is small.
Someone has died, the notice is out, and this week the family is at the house more than anywhere.
For a service with Hiram Philp on Herries Street or McGrath Funerals on Mylne Street, our funeral flowers can go straight there. For the house, a day or two after the service tends to land well, and our sympathy flowers for the home suit it. Flowers can't touch what they're going through, and the family still notices every one. A card that works: "Thinking of you all, with love."
Whites, creams and soft greens sit quietly in a house like that, where bright colours can shout. The Florists Choice Sympathy Bunch is hand-tied, so it wants a vase, and a family home nearly always has one.
Plenty of flowers go out with no heading: a thank-you to the neighbour who fed the dog, a hard week, a new job. Just because flowers need no reason.
Anna, if you want a steer: the Australian Native Arrangement. Woody stems like protea and leucadendron don't mind a warm room, and leucadendron can go about a fortnight even then. The rest are under native flowers.

Order natives before 2pm on a weekday and they're in Mount Kynoch this afternoon, ready for the brightest room in the house.
See the Native RangeBefore 2pm on a weekday for the same afternoon, giving our partner florist in Toowoomba time to make it and drive it up.
Before 10am Saturday, as most florists close around lunchtime.
No Sunday delivery, except Mother's Day. Later, choose the day at checkout.
Acreage: describe the driveway or gate, as the number is often on a post at the road. New street: what the house looks like. Hospital: the ward and full name. Funeral: the funeral director and the start time.
Whoever is home. If nobody is, the florist tends to find a shady spot or a neighbour, and rings you if neither works. At St Andrew's on North Street it's the ward desk, in our experience, and at Burstows on Ruthven Street the front office. Ordered before 2pm, it's delivered this afternoon.
After you order, a confirmation email comes through and our partner florist in Toowoomba makes it on the day you picked. Then it often goes quiet, which is normal; someone who's just moved in is knee-deep in boxes.
To check on an order, call 1300 360 469, 7am to 6pm weekdays and from 10am Saturday, or email [email protected] to change it.
If the florist can't find the house, they ring you, the sender, so keep your phone handy that afternoon. Now and then a street in Habitat is new enough that the driver's map hasn't caught up, and a lap or two eats into the run. One call sorts it. If anything arrives looking wrong, email a photo the same day and we take it up with the florist.
Then give them a day to find the kettle.
