You remembered this morning, and you're nowhere near Woombye. That was most of the birthday orders I took on the shop phone (and, if I'm truthful, most of my own). Our birthday flowers can go out this afternoon, and for your mum, start with the birthday flowers for Mum. Put a mobile in the notes in case nobody's home.

Mum has moved into care in Woombye and you can't just drop in on a Tuesday. There are 90th birthday flowers. No reason at all? Thinking of you flowers. On the card: "Thinking of you, Mum. Talk Sunday."

Send something that arrives in its own vase, like the 3 Gerberas In A Vase. A wrapped bunch waits for somebody to find a vase, and in care that somebody is busy.

You have the notice and the start time, and you're sorting it from somewhere else. Funeral flowers go to the funeral director, so give the director's name and the time, plus the church if it's St Margaret's on Blackall Street. Morning service? Order the day before. Sympathy flowers for the home can follow. Flowers can't do much on a day like that, and the family will read every name on the cards. Something like: "With love to you all."

The card said "To Mrs Wilson, love Jack." There were two Mrs Wilsons, and three Jacks. The office rang every classroom while Asha chewed a lanyard. We found her. I still don't know which Jack.

Woombye has three schools, two of them Prep to Year 12, which is a lot of Jacks. Put the teacher's full name and class in the notes, and the child's full name on the card. Anna's pick for a teacher's desk is the Blue Mist Including Vase & Chocolates: it arrives in its own vase, so nobody hunts for one at the end of a school day.
