From very, very humble beginnings buying a florist and gift shop in Northern NSW, and realising a need for customers to be able to send flowers long distances, our partner network now has over 800 florists spanning most of Australia, including of course, Parkes.

How Did You go From a Florist Shop to a Network?

We didn't even plan it, to be honest, it happened by accident. Figuring gifts, baby products, and a large organic food and skincare range was our future, we kept getting calls flowers both locally where our shop was located and for other parts of NSW, as this was often how flower orders were done in 2007. That is, call your local florist, and get them to organise the delivery for you. 

After turning away 100's of calls over the first few months of owning the shop, the penny dropped, so to speak. Instead of saying, "no, sorry, we cannot help you with your flower delivery to Parkes..." for example, we said "yes, sure, we will help you with that flower order...". My partner and I would then ring around until we found someone that could help, tell the florist who we were and what we did, then ask them if they could help with orders in the future. It worked! We then went on and created Lily's Florist a few years later and, this very page you are on right now, was made not long after that.

What Happens to my Order Now?

Nothing has changed except that we sold the shop when we went fully online in 2010 and significantly expanded our partner network. When you order from us say over the phone, your order is taken by one of our Australian based staff, the order is then sent into our network, and based upon postcode, is funneled to one of our partners, like in this example to a Parkes partner florist. They can then choose to accept the order based on the time of the day and what flowers are in store. The same happens when you order online via our SSL secured website also.

Lily's Florist is still run by the same Mum and Dad, we don't have a massive marketing team or budget, we don't have board meetings, only now our then baby in nappies, I hope, is deciding if she wants to join her Mum and Dad on the flower journey, as she is about to graduate from year 12.

In the current calendar year alone, we have received 1,320 reviews, of which 981 have been either 4 of 5 stars for our service. Suffice is to say, we're are doing okay.
