Yes, flowers can be in Blanchview this afternoon. Order before 2pm on a weekday, or 10am Saturday, and they go out today; any later, just pick the day at checkout. Behind a gate on acreage? Add the code or a mobile in the notes. In St Vincent's Private or St Andrew's in Toowoomba? Add the ward. The Australian Natives Bunch is an easy birthday pick, and the Gorgeous White Arrangement suits sympathy. Choose from our same-day range below, or call us and one of our friendly, Australian-based team will read the card back to you before you hang up.
How Long Will Gerberas Last in Blanchview? A Week or More
In my experience gerberas give a week or more in a mild room, as long as the water stays clean. The other thing they want is a turn of the vase each morning. A gerbera faces the brightest window, and a Blanchview house that looks out over the Lockyer Valley tends to have a big one. The stem is hollow (a scape, in the trade) and it bends toward the light until every head is tilted at the glass; a quarter turn each morning keeps them standing straight.
That hollow stem clogs fast, too. Bacteria block the base, water stops reaching the head, and it drops at the neck. Change the water every second day. If one droops, cut two centimetres off and stand it in shallow warm water for an hour. I learnt that on a bucket I'd already written off.
Birthdays are what we send most, then sympathy, then flowers for someone in hospital. The first three cards below say where the flowers end up and what goes in the notes. If you want somewhere to start, natives are our biggest seller: see our native flowers.
You know the house, but maybe not the gate. Pick from our best-selling birthday flowers, then put the gate code in the notes if you have it, and a mobile for whoever's home if you don't. In 2008 I left a birthday bunch on a gatepost on Clothiers Creek Road, inland from Kingscliff. Nobody home, nice bit of shade. Their horse got there first and ate most of the gerberas. The birthday girl rang the shop to thank us for the lovely ribbon. Blanchview has horses too, so say where to leave the flowers.
Anna's call: the Australian Native Arrangement sits in wet foam, so it keeps drinking while it waits on a shaded verandah, and woody native stems are built for a warm afternoon.
You have a service time and a place, maybe Holy Family on Rutherford Road in Withcott, or a Toowoomba chapel such as Burstows on Ruthven Street. Put the funeral director and the start time in the notes, and the funeral flowers reach them before the service. Sympathy flowers for home land better a week later, when the visitors thin out. A card: "Thinking of you all."
The White Lily & Rose Sheath lies flat on the coffin and needs no vase. Lilies sent to the house want their anthers pinched out as each one opens. Dry pollen bonds to fabric, so lift any that lands with sticky tape, never a cloth.
A ward number off a text, or a photo of a brand-new baby. Blanchview has no hospital of its own, so the ward is most likely in Toowoomba: St Vincent's Private or Toowoomba Hospital on Pechey Street for a new baby, and St Andrew's as well for a get well. Put their full name and the ward in the notes; in our experience the name is what finds the room. Already home? Send get well flowers or new baby flowers to the house. For the card: "Rest up. See you soon." For a baby: "Welcome, little one."
In a shared room or beside a newborn, skip anything heavily scented or anything that sheds. 3 Gerberas In A Vase bring their own water and no perfume, and nobody in a hospital bed is hunting for a vase.
Some orders have no occasion attached: thank-you flowers for the neighbour who fed the horses, an anniversary, a just-because. Anna has a view on this.
With no theme to get wrong, I'd send the Florist's Choice Bunch. The florist builds it from whatever came in best at the market that week, and the rest of the florist's choice range is made the same way.
Something else in mind?
Order a bunch before 2pm on a weekday and it heads out to Blanchview this afternoon.
Shop Flower Bunches2pm weekdays for same day, which leaves time to make the flowers and still reach acreage that afternoon.
10am Saturday, because Saturday is a short day; even the Brisbane market at Rocklea shuts at noon.
No Sunday delivery, except Mother's Day.
Acreage: the gate code or a mobile, and a shady spot away from horses and dogs. Hospital: full name and ward. Aged care: the resident's full name and room, at Bupa Rangeville for example.
Funeral flowers go to the funeral director (Burstows, Hiram Philp, Gatton Funerals) before the service, including a graveside at Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery. Wards and aged care tend to take flowers at the desk. At a house, whoever's home takes them, or they wait in the spot you named. Order before 2pm on a weekday and the flowers go out today.
A confirmation email comes straight away. Our partner florists in Toowoomba, some with us more than thirteen years, make the flowers that day and drive them out to Blanchview. In 2007 and 2008 the Toowoomba area was one of our ten busiest, and every order reached our florist there by fax. Yes, fax.
To change anything, email [email protected] or ring 1300 360 469, 7am to 6pm on weekdays and Saturday mornings.
If there's no thank-you call by tonight, that's normal, they're probably down the paddock, or the flowers are already on the kitchen bench and they'll ring when they get a minute. Now and then a gate code has changed and nobody thought to tell you, so the florist rings the mobile in the notes, or you if there isn't one (which is why that mobile matters). If something's wrong, ring us and we'll put it right. I took orders on the phones from 2006 until Ivy arrived in 2011, and the quiet after an order was always the hardest part for people, and nearly always the best sign.
Gate code, a mobile, a bit of shade. That's your part done.
