Flower Delivery Preston QLD

Preston QLD flower delivery runs same day: order before 2pm on a weekday and the flowers arrive this afternoon, at the house on the block, or the ward desk at St Vincent's Private (after 2pm, pick any later day at checkout). Birthday? The Australian Natives Bunch; natives are our biggest seller. Funeral? The White Lily & Rose Sheath, straight to the funeral director. Buy online in two minutes, or call us and our friendly, Australian-based team will make sure it's this Preston, not the Melbourne one.

Will the Flowers Last? A Week or More, in the Right Spot

Anna, qualified florist | on where to put them

Most bunches and arrangements give a week or more with the water changed or topped up every second day. Where they sit decides the rest, and colour tells you where. White shows everything. A pale petal has a thinner wall than a deep one, so a knock shows as a bruise, a drip as a water mark, and an hour on a sunny sill as petals on the table. I learned that on a white wedding job in North Carolina, watching the roses by the window go first.

So white goes in the coolest room, away from the glass. If the only spot is a sunny one, send yellow. Yellow holds its colour in the sun longer than red does.

Birthdays, Funerals and Hospital Stays, Sent Today

Preston is nearly all family homes on big blocks (2021 Census), so birthday flowers go to the house, and a mobile in the notes is what gets them up a long driveway. Funeral flowers go to the funeral director, usually in Toowoomba, and get well flowers to a ward in town. For a ward, pick something that comes in its own vase or foam, like our arrangements.

Send Birthday Flowers to the House, Long Drive and All

It's her birthday, the house is well back from the road, and she could be down the paddock. Send the flowers to the house anyway, with a mobile and where to leave them if nobody answers. With more than half the families here raising kids, birthday flowers for Mum are a safe bet.

Anna's call: the Australian Natives Bunch, from the best-selling birthday flowers. If there's banksia or protea in it, split those stems a few centimetres up from the base. A woody stem can't drink through a clean cut alone and the head starts to droop.

Funeral Flowers Go to the Funeral Director

The notice names a funeral director, usually in Toowoomba, and you can't get up for the service. Send the flowers to that funeral director, Burstows on Ruthven Street or Hiram Philp on Herries Street, say, with the service time and full name in the notes; a burial at Drayton and Toowoomba Cemetery goes through the funeral director too. Flowers won't change what's happened. The family reads every card anyway, and short is fine: "Thinking of you all." Later on, sympathy flowers for home.

Anna, on the service

A sheath, like the White Lily & Rose Sheath in the funeral flowers, lies flat on the casket and needs no vase, because the stems sit in wet tissue under the binding. The lilies go in as buds and keep opening, so if the family takes it home afterwards, there's still something good in it.

In Hospital in Toowoomba, or Already Home?

You've got a ward number off a text, or they're home already and sore. If they're still in, get well flowers go to St Vincent's Private on Scott Street, St Andrew's on North Street or Toowoomba Hospital on Pechey Street, with the ward and their full name in the notes. In our experience the ward desk takes them in and they reach the bed when the ward has a minute. If they're home, the house it is. A card like "Rest up, we'll mind the dogs." does the job.

The 3 Gerberas In A Vase is the one. It comes in its own vase, and a gerbera has no scent at all, so nothing drifts to the next bed. Whoever visits should top the water up: the stem is hollow, and once the water drops the flower folds at the neck.

A Wedding at Preston Peak, a Teacher, or Just Because

Not a birthday, a funeral or a hospital stay? For a wedding at Preston Peak or the Village Chapel on Preston Boundary Road, put the couple's names, the venue and the date in the notes. Names matter. In 2007 I took a bunch to the room number on an order at Peppers Salt in Kingscliff. The groom opened the door holding two ties. The flowers were for the bride, from her mum, two floors up.

Anna has a view on the wedding. The Gorgeous White Arrangement, somewhere cool. And if there's a lily anywhere near the dress, pinch the anthers off first. Dry pollen bonds to fabric.

A teacher at Middle Ridge State School? Thank-you flowers go to the school office with the teacher's name. And a just-because bunch needs nothing on the card but your name.

When to order

Before 2pm on a weekday for same day, which leaves time to make it and drive it out.
Before 10am Saturday, a shorter trading day.
No Sunday delivery, except Mother's Day.

What the notes need

Preston QLD 4352, the street number and a mobile, plus where to leave the flowers if nobody's home. A ward and full name for a hospital, the service time for a funeral, the couple's names and venue for a wedding. Sending to Preston in Melbourne? Use our Preston VIC page.

Who takes it in

In our experience: at home, whoever answers. Funerals: the funeral director. Hospitals: the ward desk at St Vincent's Private, St Andrew's or Toowoomba Hospital. Weddings: whoever the notes name at the venue. Aged care: reception, at places like Nubeena or Yukana in Kearneys Spring. Order before the cutoff and it goes out the same day.

Once It's Ordered, Here's What Happens

Your order goes to our partner florists in Toowoomba, some of them with us more than thirteen years. They make it on the delivery day and drive it out. In 2007 and 2008 Toowoomba was one of our ten busiest areas, every order written up at the Marine Parade shop and faxed. Yes, faxed.

Something not right when it lands? Send a photo the same day to [email protected], or ring the team on 1300 360 469, 7am to 6pm weekdays, from 10am Saturday.

Siobhan, on why the thank-you call comes late

Hearing nothing that night is normal, and after a wedding it's practically guaranteed (they're a bit busy). I took a lot of the did-they-get-them calls myself, from 2006 until Ivy arrived in 2011, and nearly every time the flowers were sitting on a bench and nobody had got to the phone yet. The thank-you comes. A few days late, usually with a photo.

Names in the notes. Every time.

Co-founder, Lily's Florist

Siobhan and I bought the flower shop on Marine Parade, Kingscliff, in 2006 and delivered most of the orders ourselves until 2009: Tweed Hospital, John Flynn, nursing homes, and one hotel room at Peppers Salt.

We started Lily's Florist in 2009, and I took calls until 2013. The longer story is on about Lily's Florist.
