Same Day Delivery - Sorell Wide
You have someone in Sorell who needs flowers and you are not there. Maybe a birthday in one of the new estates, a thank you for the neighbour who helped with the move, or something that happened today you want to mark. It is already mid-morning and nothing is organised. I am Andrew, and I run Lily's Florist with my partner Siobhan from Kingscliff in northern NSW. We have a partner florist in or close to Sorell who can put together a fresh arrangement today if you order before the cutoff.
Sorell has had a school on the same site since 1821. Over two hundred years of continuous operation, making it Australia's oldest public school still running. A suburb with that kind of continuity is not a dormitory town people pass through. The families settling into the new estates east of the town centre are joining something that has been here longer than most Australian cities have existed. Our florist crosses the Tasman Bridge to reach Sorell most days. They know the new estates as well as the streets that have been here for two hundred years.

Picked for Sorell
Anna, qualified florist, 15+ years on the bench and 10,000 calls processed from the Pottsville office. These four cover birthdays, new arrivals, and the kind of colourful thank-you that suits a growing suburb full of young families.
Anna: The bestseller for a reason. Seasonal blooms picked strong from the day's stock, plus chocolates. In Hobart's cool climate, this bunch holds colour well past a week on a kitchen bench.
View ProductAnna: The florist works from whatever came in strongest. At 335 reviews and 4.5 stars, this one delivers because the latitude means better flowers, not leftover ones.
View ProductAnna: All gerberas, nowhere to hide. The flat heads photograph brilliantly for the text message back to the sender. In a Sorell living room at 16 degrees, these hold five to seven days easily.
View ProductAnna: The mint dahlias and coral roses in this one sit above the usual pastel pink. For a new baby gift heading to a warm bedroom, the staggered bloom cycle gives a week of changing colour.

Hobart is the coolest capital in the country, and that single fact changes how long a bunch performs once it lands on someone's table. A rose that gives a Brisbane customer five days at best will sit in a Sorell kitchen for ten, sometimes twelve, because the ambient temperature slows the bacterial growth that kills stems from the waterline up. I processed orders into Tasmania for three years and the complaint rate for wilting was the lowest on the network.
The trade-off is supply. Every stem in a Sorell arrangement crossed Bass Strait overnight on a refrigerated truck, usually from the Epping wholesale market in Melbourne. The crossing adds roughly a day to the supply chain compared to a Melbourne florist pulling the same stock off the shelf at 5am. The Hobart wholesaler in Kingston recuts and rehydrates on arrival, and the cool rooms reset the clock. By the time a florist near Sorell picks up stock, the conditioning has caught up. But it means the florist needs to be sharper on what they select. A stem that is borderline in Melbourne is past its best by the time it reaches Hobart. The good florists in Hobart know which varieties travel well and which do not, and they work from that knowledge every day.
Gerberas, for the record, travel well in cold freight. Roses in the mid-open stage handle the crossing without issue if the temperature stays consistent. Tulips and ranunculus, which are naturally cool-climate stems, actually perform better in Hobart than almost anywhere else I used to process orders to. The worst performers in transit tend to be tropical stems. Anything that wants warmth and humidity loses condition fast on an overnight ferry through Bass Strait.
No warehouse. No pre-packed box shipped from an airport. A florist near Sorell opens the cold store, makes your arrangement on the bench that day, wraps it, and drives it to the door.
* How your Sorell order moves from our system to the florist's bench.
You have seen what is available. Now the question is how to get it right. Sorell's population has grown 18 per cent since 2021, which means a lot of new addresses, new neighbours, and reasons to say thank you that did not exist three years ago.
A child turning five in a new estate or a parent marking a milestone in the house they just moved into. You are not there and the day is happening without you. The flowers arrive. They are not you. But they are something, and the person opening the door will know you thought about them today. Order by 2pm weekdays or 10am Saturday and the florist can have them at the door that afternoon. If nobody is home, leave a delivery note in your order specifying a safe spot. We have found that most of the newer Sorell homes have covered porches or side entries where a bunch can sit out of the weather.
The question that came up dozens of times on the phones was about morning delivery. People wanted birthday flowers there by 9am, before the party started. Realistic earliest is mid-morning. The florist still needs to make it, and that takes time to do properly. I used to tell callers to order the day before if morning arrival was critical. The florist prepares it that afternoon, stores it overnight, and runs the delivery first thing. The Hobart air means overnight storage barely costs any vase life at all.
Someone close to you just had a baby. You want to mark it, but you are probably not sure when to send or what to write. Hold off on day one. Day one is chaos, hospital paperwork, visitors, exhaustion. Day two or three, when the adrenaline has worn off and the reality of sleep deprivation has set in, is when flowers on the kitchen bench actually land. Address the card to the mother, not the baby. Reception staff and florists deal with parcels addressed to "Baby Smith" more often than you would think, and it creates confusion. If the gender has not been announced, or you are unsure, skip the pink and blue entirely. Bright mixed colours work just as well and nobody has to guess.
I processed hundreds of new baby orders from the Pottsville office and the card message was the thing people agonised over most. Keep it simple. "Congratulations" is enough. New parents read those cards at 2am with a baby on their chest. Two words and your name. Done.

Order Before 2pm for Same DayIf the occasion does not fit a neat category, that is fine. You do not need a label to send flowers. Go back to the four products above. They were picked because they cover the widest range of reasons people send flowers to Sorell. The Colourful Bunch Including Chocolates is the safest bet across almost any occasion because the florist works from what is freshest and the chocolates turn it into a proper gift without you needing to add anything else. If the budget is tight, a single wrapped rose at $42.95 still arrives by hand the same day. If you want to browse more widely, the Florist's Choice range gives the florist full creative latitude, or arrangements arrive in a box with water so the recipient does not need to find a vase.
July 2024, we packed up Asha and Ivy for a family trip to Hobart. Landed at minus two with wind chill, coming from Kingscliff, that is a real shock. We hired a Tesla for the trip, just for fun, and all was going brilliantly until we found ourselves in Sorell with a flashing battery warning, down to seven per cent, and no idea where to find an EV charger.

2pm weekdays, 10am Saturdays. No Sunday delivery. Sorell is 27 kilometres from the CBD, and the Tasman Bridge crossing adds time to every run. Sunday orders queue for Monday morning.
Flat rate, subsidised. The actual cost of a hand delivery out to Sorell is higher than $16.95 once you factor the bridge transit and the distance. We absorb the difference because a fixed price removes one more variable.
Sorell is one of the fastest-growing suburbs in Greater Hobart, with new estates being developed south and east of the town centre. If the delivery address is in a recently built area, include the estate name and lot number in the order notes where possible. Street names in new developments do not always appear on GPS immediately. Our partner florist close to Sorell knows the area and can usually find the address, but the extra detail saves time and ensures the flowers arrive while they are at their best. Order before 2pm today and your flowers are there this afternoon.

"On point this florist. Easy to use site and flowers were exactly as pictured. Great price also."
Rob · verified customer · Colourful Bunch Including Chocolates, 30 September 2024
Send Flowers to SorellRob ordered the same product sitting at the top of this page. When he says "exactly as pictured," that means the person who opened the door saw the same colour and volume Rob saw on the screen. The first impression held.
The number one fear I heard on calls was "will it look like the picture?" With Florist's Choice products, the answer is always "similar, not identical," because the florist works with what is fresh. Rob's review matters because he specifically said the flowers matched. The florist read the brief, understood the product photo, and made something that honoured it. Across hundreds of reviews on the Colourful Bunch page, the half-star gap from five is almost always taste rather than quality. Someone expected the exact photo. What they received was different varieties in the same colour palette, assembled from stronger stock. The product is better because it flexes.
One review worth reading honestly is Margaret Anne's from the same product page: "Flowers different to picture on website they were supposed to be in a vase. What got delivered was nice but not as good as picture provided on website." The product is a bunch, not a vase arrangement, and the photo can mislead if you do not read the description. When this happened on calls, I would walk the customer through the difference between a bunch (hand-tied, needs a vase) and an arrangement (arrives in a container with water). If you are ordering for someone who does not have a vase handy, add one to your order or choose an arrangement instead.
Your order goes to one of our partner florists near Sorell. They make your arrangement fresh on the day and drive it out to the address. If you have a colour preference or want to avoid a particular flower, put it in the order notes. The florist reads every note before they start. The Tasman Bridge run is part of their daily schedule, so Sorell deliveries slot into an eastern-shore route they already cover. If you need to change anything after ordering, or if the flowers arrive damaged or late, call 1300 360 469 during business hours or email [email protected]. You get a person, not a chatbot.
The part most people do not see is the phone call after. The recipient opens the door, takes the flowers inside, and then nothing. Silence. You are sitting there wondering if they arrived, if they were any good, if the card was attached. That silence is completely normal. New parents are asleep. Birthday recipients are at dinner. People dealing with difficult news take time. If you have not heard anything by the end of the day, it does not mean something went wrong. It almost always means the flowers are sitting on a bench somewhere and the person just has not had a chance to pick up the phone yet.
Sorell is a suburb that is changing fast. New families, new streets, new house numbers that the GPS has not caught up with yet. If the florist cannot find the address, they will call the number you provided at checkout. Make sure it is a number that will be answered. One answerable phone number is worth more than any delivery instruction you could type into a text box.
